Ardee Rose Block, Harold Miller Wed A double ring ceremony per formed at 3 p. m. Sunday, Aug. 6, in the Christ Lutheran church, O’Neill, united in marriage Miss Ardee Rose Block, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rouchey, Er ie, Penn., and Harold Norman Miller, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ro bert E. Miller, O’Neill. The Rev. A. S. Gedwillo offi ciated at the service, before an altar decorated with candelabra and two baskets of gladioli and Nile green Fujii mums. White ro ses were placed on the altar. Vocalists were Dennis Van Sea gram and Claude Cole. Miss Jan et Krugman was at the organ. The bride, given in marriage by her grandfather, Albert C. Block, wore an imported silk or-’ ganza gown which featured a Bateau neckline and Saxon sleeves pointed over the hands. Iridescent sequins and seed pearls enhanced the front and neckline of the gown. The bouffant skirt ended in a chapel train. Her veil of imported silk illusion fell from a flat crown style headpiece of lace illusion ruching. She carried a red rose cascade arrangement. Mrs. Ruben Meiers, Grand Is land, sister of the bride, was ma tron of honor. Bridesmaids were VERDIGRE — Mr. and Mrs. •lames Kudloff announce the ap proaching marriage of their daughter, Phyllis Mary, to Ro bert Tharnish, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tharnish, Creigh ton. The wedding will be September 2 at St. Weneeslaus Catholic church in Verdigre. Miss Rudloft is a graduate of Verdigre high school and has been teaching. The last year she instructed in the Verdigre public school. Clubs Donate EWING—On August 3 the Hap py Hollow 4-H club held their eighth meeting of the year. Ted dy Hagemoser gave a demonstra tion on how to groom a calf. Among 11 4-H clubs $332 has been donated to the new 4-H building at Chambers. Three members were absent from the meeting at Dean Pofahls. The next meeting will be held at the E. P. William son farm. Reporter. Teddy Hage moser. Miss Dion Honored BUTTE—Many friends and rela tives gathered at the Butte Le gion hall Monday evening for a shower in honor of Miss Betty Dion who will be married in the near future to Dave Sextro. Mrs. J. Sextro and Mrs. H. Schultz were in charge of decorating. Hostesses were Mesdames Paul Weber, Joe Lechtenberg, George Weber, Mervin Fuhrer, Wilbur Reiser, Ray Weber, Joe Sextro, Russell L. Luth, Vince Weber and Herman Schultz. Seated with the couple at the honored table were Mrs. Louis Dion, Mrs. Mane Sex tro, Miss Mary Dion and Miss Donna Carmichael. Mrs. Earl Miller and Miss Caro lyn Walker, Grand Island. The attendants wore Nile green dress es made of silk organza. They had matching headpieces of ny lon net, and carried colonial bouquets of red roses and white pom pons. Earl Miller, brother of the bridegroom, served as best man. Ushers were Radean Block, Grand Island, and Douglas Mil ler, Verdigre. Cindy Meier, Grand Island, was flower girl, and Randy Christ, Corvallis, Ore., was ring bearer. At the reception Mrs. Harold Cihlar and Mrs. Floyd Kinnison were hostesses. Mrs. Ted Kinni son and Mrs. Art Sanders cut and served the wedding cake. Serv ing punch were Mrs. Radean Block and Mrs. Wallace Cihlar. Miss Connie Wicht, Grand Island, had charge of the guestbook, and Mrs. Perry Walker and Mrs. Frank Cernousek took care of the gift table. The bride is a graduate this year of McDowell high school at Erie, Pa. Mr. Miller attended O’Neill high school and is presently engaged in ranching near O’Neill where the couple will reside following a wedding trip to Colorado Springs, Colo. Mrs. Morgan Entertains The Janawa club met at the home of Mr. Esther Morgan. Tuesday. Winners in bridge were Mrs. Ben Heriford and Mrs. Bob Murphy. The American Legion Auxiliary Simonson Unit No. 93 met August 2 at the park for a picnic. An informal meeting was held. Gertrude Streeter, Junior counse lor, reported the Juniors would have their picnic at the park August 12. Patricia McKenzie was on the program Friday at the Department convention in Grand Island. Patti .Min Heerman, Girls Stat er, reported on her trip to Girls State. Membership chairman. Mary Lowery, requested that all mem bers pay their dues during the following month or at the Septem ber meeting. Luella Fritton won the attendance award. Bridal Shower honors Miss Corkle Mrs. Howard Jackson and Miss Helen Hynes entertained Thurs day at the Hynes home at a pre nuptial shower honoring Miss Cera Corkle who was married Saturday at St. Patrick's Catho lic church. Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Rentsch ler announce the engagement of their daughter, Mary June, to James Mellor, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Mellor, Atkinson. Miss Rentsehler is a I960 grad uate of Atkinson high school and completed a course at the Per sonnel Training Institute in Om aha. Mr. Mellor is a 1958 graduate of Atkinson high school and at tended the Norfolk Junior col lege and Kansas State Univer sity at Manhattan, Kans. A fall wedding is being plan ned. O'Neill Locals Mr. and Mrs James Kudera and daughter, Jom, San Diego, Calif., spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Don Wecker and family. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Wells left Saturday for North Platte to meet Mrs. Wells’ sister, Leala Mae, Herrick, S. D., who has been visiting in Fort Collins and with the Leonard Kruger family in North Platte. The Fred Wells returned home Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. John Turner and grandson, Billy Kostic, went to Norfolk Thursday to take Billy home He has been with the Turners for several days while his parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Kostic, Storm Lake, la., moved to Norfolk. Mr. Kostic is employed with the Hest ed store. Mrs. Kostic is the for mer Mary Katherine Turner. The Turners returned home Thurs day evening. Rose Mary Urban, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Urban, is visiting at the home of her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Char ley King, Missouri Valley, la. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Harley and family and David Schnier, Fort Collins, Colo., and Nathen Harley, El Paso, Tex., were Sun day dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Beckwith. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Jackson ar rived home Thursday after visit ing friends and relatives in Springfield, Mo. The Jackson children remained in Missouri with their grandparents, and will return home at a later date. Mr. and Mrs. Robert McFall and daughter, Tulsa, Okla., and Mrs. George Kelly, Rogers, Ark., spent a week visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Don McKamy and family. Mr. and Mrs. A1 Fritton return ed from Miller, S. D., where they spent a week visiting Mr. and Mrs. Tom Blake and family. Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Adams and son visited Thursday at the home of Bernard Gribble, Cham bers. Mr. and Mrs. Adams left for Wayne to spend a week visit ing friends and relatives. Entertain at Brunch Mrs. Ed Gleeson and Mrs. Ro bert Devoy entertained 25 guests at a brunch in the Gleeson home Friday in honor of Mary Elize beth Gatz. Judy Bartak Weds Robert Eggerling In Catholic Rite EWING — Miss Judy A. Bar tak, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles R. Bartak, Ewing, and Robert L. Eggerling, son of John H. Eggerling, Norfolk, were uni ted in marriage Tuesday, Aug 8, at 10 a.m. in St. John’s Catholic church southwest of Clearwater. Performing the double ring cer emony was the Rev. Francis Kubart. White glalioli decorated the altar, and lavender and white daisies were used on the two side altars. Traditional wedding music was provided by Miss Sharon Shavlik, Norfolk, solo ist, and Miss Lois Kaczor, Ewing, and Miss Patti Spittler, Norfolk, organists. A floor length gown of Chan tilly lace and nylon tulle was chosen by the bride. It was fash ioned with smooth line lace bo dice, Sabrina neckline trimmed with jeweled handclipped roses, and long tapering sleeves ending in bridal points. The full tulle skirt was worn over taffeta and hoops, and accented with hand clipped floral motifs. A crown of sequins held the elbow length veil of net and lace. She carried a satin covered prayer book centered with a lavender orchid and stephanotis streamers. Miss Beverly Bartak, sister of the bride, was maid of honor. Sisters of the bridegroom, the Misses Marilyn and Barbara Eg gerling, Norfolk, were brides maids. The attendants wore street length gowns of lavender nylon chiffon over net and taffeta slips. The dresses were accented by a Schiffli embroidery pattern. Larry Liedtke son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Liedtke, left today to spend several days visiting his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. John Kahler, Meadow Grove. Mr. and Mrs. Paul W. Mose inan sr., announce the engage ment of their daughter, Caro lyn JoAnu, and Robert P. Bau er. Mr. Bauer is the son of Mr. and Mrs. N. H. Bauer, Scran ton, la. Charles Bartak, brother of the bride, and Arthur and Robert Rolf and Dale Funk were mass servers. Over 200 guests attended the re ception following in the church parlors. Prior to this a dinner was served. At the reception, hostesses were Mrs. Eleanor and Mrs. Lucille Rolf. Mrs. Marie Bartak cut and served the wel ding cake. Mrs. Carol Gibson and Miss Susan Broderson poured. In charge of the guest book was Mrs. Nancy Setting, and arrang ing the gift table were the Misses Vera Dwinell, Julie Brinkman and Kathleen Spitzenberger. Ser vers were the Misses Mona Mo sel, Patty Kasselder, Renie Bar tak, Suzie Andrews, Julie Mig nery, Loretta and Evelyn Egger ling and Earleen Schrunk. The bride attended Wheeler county school and Wayne State Teachers college. She is employ ed by the Norfolk public school as a second grade instructor. Mr. Eggerling attended Norfolk Sacred Heart school. He is pre sently employed as manger of the work clothes department at the J. C. Penny company in Nor folk. Following a wedding trip to! Wisconsin, the couple will be at! home at 1108 Roselane. Norfolk. , Cera Corkle Marries Michael DeFeo, Saturday In St. Patrick's Church Before an altar flanked with candelabra and baskets of gla dioli, Miss Cera Corkle, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James M. Cork le,, and Michael De Feo, son of Mrs. Peter De Feo, Kansas City, Mo., were united in marriage at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, in St. Patrick’s Catholic church, O’ Neill. Msgr. Timothy O’Sullivan per formed the marriage. Soloist was Mrs. Joseph Hansen, Nor folk, accompanied by Miss Jac que Arbuthnot. The bride appeared in a floor length gown of Chantilly lace ov er taffeta, styled with a fitted Basque bodice and a portrait neckline accented with seed pearls. The fitted skirt featured a cathedral train. An illusion veil was held in place by a queen’s crown. She carried a white or chid surrounded by lace and sa tin trimmed leaves. Mrs. Bernard Mohr, Wichita, Kan., sister of the bride, was matron of honor. She was attired in a street length sheath gown of mint green peau de soie with avocado green silk organza trim ming the neckline, draped across the back and released in a back skirt panel. Bridesmaids were Miss Coleen Corkle, Kansas City, Kan., and Miss Rita Corkle, sis ters of the bride, and their gowns were identical to that of the ma tron of honor. They wore silk or ganza picture hats and carried avocado green double rings, the lower ring covered with garnet roses and streamers. Stanley Raczynski, Kansas City, Mo., served as best man, and groomsmen were Jerry King and George Delisio, both of Kansas City. Ushers were Tom and John Corkle, Tilden. A reception was held in tne Legion hall and attended by 150 guests. Miss Judy 9ullivan and Miss Patricia Heermann presid ed at the punch bowl. The bride attended St. Mary’s academy and is a graduate of the Providence School of Nurs ing, Kansas City, Kan. She at tended St. Mary’s college, Xavi er, Kan., this year. The bridegroom is a graduate of Rockhurst college, Kansas City, Mo., and is attending School of Law, Kansas City university, where he is a senior. Following a wedding trip to Colorado, the couple will reside in Kansas City, Mo. O'Neill Locals Mr. and Mrs. Mike Langan left Sunday to visit friends and rela tives in Columbus. Mrs. Pat Sullivan went to Council Bluffs last week to at tend a family reunion and visit her son-in-law and daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. John Mc Gill in Omaha. Mrs. Sullivan’s brother, Henry J. Barrett, Coun cil Bluffs, drove Mrs. Sullivan home Thursday and visited here until Saturday. Visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Froelich for the last few days were their daughter and grandchildren. Mrs. B. Wanser and sons, Hornick, la. They left Wednesday to go back to their home. Mrs. Robert Kurtz is on vaca tion this week from her duties at; Helen’s Flower shop. Mr. and Mrs. Willard Claussen and family returned Monday to their home at Thorp, Wis. after spending eight days with his mo ther, Mrs. Cora Claussen.
