French CITY CLERK Dorsey News By Mrs. Harold Osborn A surprise party was held Sun day on Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Greene, the occasion being a belated birthday celebration on Mrs. Greene. The uninvited guests brought “well filled" pincic baskets and had dinner and supper with the Greenes. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hiscocks, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Wilson, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Osborn and Ruth, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Counts, Dana and Randy, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hoff man, Mrs. Leman Huber and N. E. Baker. Later in the afternoon Mr. and Mrs. Edward Carson called. Some of the men ami women in the Dorsey community gathered Monday to shingle the church. The women served a picnic dinner to the workers. Mr. and Mrs. Joe Cihlar vi sited Sunday evening at the Leon ard Haineraich home. Mrs. Howard Slack has been caring for the Robert Wells boys, while their parents w'ork in the hay field. Janice and Jerry Derickson visited from Monday to Wednes day at the Sadie Deriskson home. They then spent the rest of the week at their grandparent’s home, the John Dericksons. Kenny Dmbny had the mis fortune of getting kicked by a cow on Friday on his leg. He consulted a doctor for the in jury Mr. and Mi's. Fred Svatos and Arlin visited at the Harold Os iiorn home Sunday evening. Harry Carson called on Mrs. Mary Wolfe and Lizzie Carson Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Harold Oslxirn called Friday on Mr. and Mrs. Lee Brady sr. They also stopped at the Tom Alder home to see how little Donovan was getting along from his recent illness. Donovan is felling fine again and friends are glad to hear the good news. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Barta and Evelyn visited at the William Kalal home in Verdigre Sunday. Mrs. Howard Graham ac companied Mrs. Gordon Barta and Mrs. Frank Gehlsen and the children to O'Neill Saturday. The children took their swimming lesson. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Brady sr.. and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Johnson visited Mrs. Carrie Hunter in the Lynch hospital Sunday af ternoon. Mrs. Hunter is reported to be unimproved. Mrs. Mary Wolfe, who had been a patient at Sacred Heart hospi tal for several days, was able to return to her home Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Howard Slack entertained the following at a dinner Wednesday, Mrs. Eva Hiscock, Robert, Glen and Helena and Mrs. Thomas Hiscock. Mrs. Elizabeth (Ly) Hooie and son, Jim and wife of Omaha, vi sited Tuesday at the Thomas Hiscock home and with her sister in-law, Mrs. Eva Hiscock and family. There were also 18 grandchildren there. They ate their dinner at the Improvement club building and spent the af ternoon at the Nissen home, re turning to the building for their supper. Those attending were Mr. and Mrs. Harold Rock and child ren, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Raasch and family, Mr. and Mrs. David Eby and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Dale Nissen and family and James Nissen and friend, all of Omaha; Mr. and Mrs. Esmond Weber and daughter, Denver. Mrs. Jessie Cronk will be the next hostess. The American Legion held a special meeting Friday night in order to discuss the county con vention to be held on Sunday evening at Page. Twenty-five members answered roll call. De legates to the state convention are Ben Asher, Lloyd Cork and Keith Kennedy. It will be held at Grand Island August 4, 5, and 6. The members of the SOS club enjoyed a fried chicken supper at the home of Mrs. Leila Snell Friday. Afterwards the women played cards with Mrs. Ethel Park winning the “mystery” prize. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Stewart, Mr. and Mrs. Edd Stewart and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Smith, Walton, Ore., were coffee guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gene Mudloff Saturday night. Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Mr. and Mrs. Tony Mudloff and Brenda visited on Sunday in the home of their daughter, Mrs. Marvin Prokup and family in Spencer. Mr. and Mrs. N. D. Ickes, Page and Mr. and Mrs. A. M. Inness, Meadow Grove, returned home Wednesday after a week of va cation and sight seeing through the Black Hills. Enroute they vis ited with Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Pratt, Big Stone, Minn. The Improvement club met Wednesday night for a meeting. Sixteen members answered roll call. It was voted to tile the kitchen floor in the Improvement club building. Mrs. Evelyn Gray and Mrs. Leila Snell were hos tesses. Mrs. Frieda Asher was hostess Wednesday afternoon when KNA kensington members and Mrs. Joe Williamson, a guest met with her. They enjoyed an afternoon of card playing. Mrs. Melvin Roach won high score honors when the Bid or Bye Bridge club met with her Wtdnesday afternoon. Mrs. Mel vin Carson and Mrs. Alton Brad dock were guests in the absence of Mrs. Harold Kelly and Mrs. Gerald Lamason. The Neighborhood club met Wednesday with Mrs. Lee Fink. Mrs. Glen Harris won the door prize. All members of the NOK club will hold their annual picnic Sun day at the Ford park in O’Neill at 1 p.m. Mr. and Mrs. Lorenz Nissen, Kathy and Larry Wayne left Tues day for their home in Wilmington, N. Lin da Smith, who had been visiting at the Ivan Stewart home, re turned with the Arnold Sewarts. Barry Fink, Oakland, Calif., is spending a few days visiting in the Lee Fink home. A group of neighbors helped Mrs. Mabel Smith enjoy her birthday Friday by spending the evening with her.
