A Poem From Virs. iby .. . —Tempered— The best steel knife blade is sub ject to white heat, then cold. Then heated again then beaten till it follows a perfect mold. Then out to the grandstone till it cries enough. But the cutler is steadily making it tempered and tough, Stop, to the cutler, the knife blade said, But again into white heat the blade is fed. Now keep me off the grindstone, can’t more endure, But it’s made to kiss the stone till the cutler feels sure. Every flaw is removed and the blade bright and pure. Some souls are heated in afflic tion ’tis true, Then plunged into col 1 tribula tion for you. Then ground it seems on stones of adversity’s foes. But they come out ready for high er service He knows, Some come for lower service, They can't stand the test, God would shape them for, but must take second best. Oh! be si ill and let God temper and polish you through. Then you’ll be ready for His best service too. And be prepared for a life of God given might. Then He’ll give you a past that’s sure to be right. Dtella Stuart Eby) MADISON RAGES J ay./y'ailf Double on 1st nd 2nd Room Sponsored by Mbdison County Agricultural Society. ST.
