Dorsey News By Mrs. Harold Osborn Mrs. Georgia Butterfield came Wednesday to spend a few days with her sister, Miss Sadie Derickson. There has been a bridge crew in this vicinity working on several bridges that needed re pairing. A new one was put in at the Lee Brady sr., farm as it was damaged by the water earlier this spring. Hal Rosenkrans come out from O’Neill and captured a swarm of bees that swarmed on the Lee Brady sr., house Thursday. He was very fortunate as the bees were very cooperative and took to their new home hight away. Linda Hughes is spending a few days at the R. L. Hughes home. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Lundeen and daughter of Lincoln came to spend the weekend at the Sadie Derickson home. They will also visit Mrs. Lundeen’s mother, Mrs. A. E. Derickson, before re turning to Lincoln after the 4th of July. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Johnson called on Mrs. Carrie Hunter, a patient at Sacred Heart hospi tal, Thursday evening. Beverly Carson of Lincoln came home for a few days visit with her parents and relatives. She returned to Lincoln Satuday. Sgt. and Mrs. Vernon Oleson and Neil returned to their home at Waynesville, Mo., Wednesday after spending their vacation here in Nebraska visiting rela tives and friends. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Barta and Evelyn enjoyed a barbecue sup per Tuesday evening at the Har old Osborn home along with the Vernon Olesons. Ruth Osborn called on Janice Crawford Saturday evening. Janice was released from Sacred Heart hospital after being in traction and getting her leg in a cast. Janice is able to get around with the aid of crutches. Mr. and Mrs. Vic Pickering were helping at the Claude Pickering home Saturday doing some cement work. Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Carson and daughter called at the Carson sisters Sunday afternoon. They also visited Mrs. Carrie Hunter at the Lynch hospital. Mrs. Mary Wolfe hasn't been feeling very well since Thursday. Walter accompanied his grandson, Dean Smith, to Sioux City, la., Friday. They arrived in South Sioux City just minutes after the bridge was opened for a boat to go through and were delayed several hours before the bridge closed. Cars were lined up for several miles on each side. The Women’s Society of Chris tian service of the Methodist church met Thursday in the church dining room. In the ab sence of the president, the vice president presided. Nineteen members were present. Business consisted largely of details con cerning the dinner for the Read funeral, the shower for Carolyn Wintermote, and the Karen Er mer wedding. Lavina Grimes and Leona Gleed conducted the mis sion study lesson, this being the first session using the new book, “Safe in Bondage” by Robert W. Spike. The hostesses, Chloe Adams and Jean Hoffman, served lunch, after which the meeting adjourn ed. Ewing News By Mrs. Harold Harris The Let’s Sew group of the Happy Hollow 4-H club visited Hill’s store in Ewing Wednesday afternoon. The girls, who are ma king sewing boxes, were interest ed in seeing the sewing tools needed, followed by a discussion. Roll call was answered by nam ing a sewing tool and giving its use. It is planned for each member to give a demonstration at the next meeting July 5 at the John Miller home. Mr. and Mrs. Ben Larsen were hosts at a family dinner Sunday at their home honoring her bro ther and sister-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Pruden, on their wed ding anniversary. It was also Mr. Pruden s birthday. Present were the honored guests, James H. Pruden, Mr. and Mrs. S. M. Mrs. Norwood accompanied them to Kearney where she attended the Assembly of the Church of the Nazarene, returning home Saturday with the Rev. Mrs. Nina Haines, pastor of the Ewing Church of the Nazarene. Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Briggs and children of San Juan, Calif., spent several days at the home of his mother, Mrs. Grace Briggs. Mr. Briggs and family are moving to Cincinnati, 0., to make their home. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Funk and Mary Karen attended the wedding of Jerome Thoendel and Margar et Mary Funk held at St. John’s church Saturday morning. A family gathering was held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Sam Regan July 4. A picnic dinner wes served.
