Sharon Kokes, Stephen Gaines Wed Saturday ATKINSON — Miss Sharon Kokes became the bride of Ste phen Arthur Gaines Saturday, June 17, 10:30 a.m. in St. Joseph’s Catholic church at Atkinson. The Rev. Ronald Kokes, a cousin of the bride, Loup City, performed the double ring ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Kokes, Atkinson. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen O. Gaines, Grand Island. Vows were exchanged before an altar arrangement of white gla dioli and white Majestic daisies with cathedral tapers in candel abras forming the background. The communion rail was flanked with baskets of yellow Majestic daisies. The bride chose a floor length gown of silk organza and Chan tilly lace, fashioned on princess lines, with portrait neckline and cap sleeves. A wide inset of the imported lace defined the high rising waistline, and a wide pan el of the lace falling from the waistline fashioned the aisle wide train. Her triple tier shoulder length veil of imported illusion was caught by a crown of organza leaves interspersed with seed / ouc tai iiru a. bascauc bouquet of pink sweetheart roses and ivy streamers. Mrs. Chttrles Tillotson, Chica go, was matron of honor. Her dress was a Topsey original in heaven blue silk organza. The molded bodice was accented by a scoop neckline and very full sleeves. The bouffant ballerina length skirt was accented by a deep hemline. She carried a cascade bouquet of white daisies and yellow roses with ivy leaves. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Gary Kokes, Chicago, Mrs. Char les Kokes, New Orleans, La., Miss Gretchen Gaines, Grand Is land, sister of the bridegroom, and Miss Mary Siattery, Atkin Carol Nausler Weds Don Frickel At Lincoln ATKINSON—Miss Carole Sue Nauslar, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Nauslar, Lincoln, and Donald Frickel, son of Mr. and Mrs. Conrad Frickel, Atkin son, were married June 10 at 6:30 pun. in the Chapel of Fellow ship Center on the University of Nebraska campus. Performing the double ring ceremony was the Rev. Herbert Garner. Miss Gayle Galloway was soloist and Mrs. Anderson was organist. Baskets of Majes tic daisies and yellow gladioli and candelabra decorated the altar. The bride was attired in a silk organza over taffeta dress, styl ed with scoop neckline, scalloped bodice and organza skirt, all hav ing appliques of embroidered lace. The full skirt ended in a chapel train. A pleated tulle pillbox sprinkled with pearls and sequins held her veil. She carried a bou quet of yellow roses and lilies of the valley. The attendants, all of Omaha, wore mint green ny lon organdy dresses over net and taffeta with fitted bodices, scoop necklines and full skirts. Their bouquets were of daisies. Ronald Frickel, Lincoln, bro ther of the bridegroom, served as best man. Ushers were Robert Koenig, Omaha, Dan Roberts, At kinson. and Wayne Purtzer, Lin coln. Miss Raynelle Hutton, Omaha, was flower girl and Greg McDon ald, Omaha, was ring bearer. Approximately 130 guests at tended the reception. The three tier cake baked by Mrs. Paul Nel son, O’Neill, was cut by Miss Na omi Nelson, Kansas C it y. The bridegroom’s cake' was cut by Mrs. Leon Hendricks, Man hattan, Kan. Both the bride and bridegroom received degrees in commence ment exercises held earlier the day of their wedding at the Un O'Neill photo co son. Their gowns were styled identically to the one worn by the matron of honor. They car ried cascade banquets of white daisies and ivy leaves. Gary Gaines of Speonk, Long Island. N. Y., served his brother as best man. Ushers were Fred E. Gaines, Grand Island, brother of the bridegroom, Gary H. Kokes, Chicago, Charles Kokes. New Orleans, La., and Charles Falls, Harlan la. Miss Leona Kilmurry, organist, accompanied Mrs. Richard Bur back, Hay Springs, who was vo calist. Following the ceremony a buf fet luncheon was held for the guests at the Knights of Colum bus hall. Guests were registered by Mrs. Patrick Hayes, Peoria, 111. Mrs. Gary Gaines cut and served the bride’s cake. Mrs. Fred Gaines poured coffee and Miss Marilyn Wallinger, Omaha, served the punch. Mrs. Gaines attended the Col lege of St. Catherine, St. Paul, Minn., and the University of Ne KlVielra ol-in urne rrvorll i o -- -- - -- with a master of arts degree. She was affiliated with Kappa Gamma and Sigma Alpha Eta soroities. Mr. Gaines is attending the Un iversity of Nebraska. After a short trip to the Black Hills, Mr. and Mrs. Gaines will spend the months of July and August as counselors at the Min nesouri Angling Club, Alexandria, Minn. In the fall Mrs. Gaines will be employed in the Lincoln public schools as speech therapist and Mr. Gaines will resume his stu dies at the University of Nebras ka. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph M. Kokes entertained at a rehearsal din ner in their home honoring their daughter, Sharon Lynn and her groom-to-be on the evening pre ceding their marriage. The bride wore a ballerina length gown of white nylon lace Jver taffeta with little puff deeves, a Sabrina neckline and i bodice trimmed with cummer jund of taffeta. The skirt was styled in a gored-flare with shell Jink rosettes and ribbons trim ning the hem line. She wore a ■iny half hat, and a shell pink car ration corsage. The matron of honor, Mrs. Don ra Staub, sister of the bride, vore a beige suit with white ac :essories. Leroy Keim, brother of the jridegroom, served as best man. Mr. and Mrs. Keim will make heir home at Chadron where he bridegroom is employed by ris father. Announce Engagement CLEARWATER—Mr. and Mis. Clarence Michael announce the approaching marriage of their daughter, Belva, to Lonnie Pat ras, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Patras. Miss Michael is a graduate of the Clearwater high school and the Norfolk Beauty school. She is presently employed in Ilene’s Beauty shop in Clearwater. A July 2 wedding is planned. JoAnn Putnam Weds Larry Mitchell At Atkinson BUTTE—Miss JoAnn Putnam, Butte, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles E. Putnam, Naper, and Larry Mitchell, Atkinson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Adrian Mitchell, Butte, were married June 3 at 7 p.m. in the Immanuel Lutheran church at Butte. The Rev. E. Burgdorf, Spencer, officiated at the double ring cer emony. Rollen Kibby, was vocal ist, accompanied by Miss Lois Kibby, Naper. A Chantilly lace and tulle gown was chosen by the bride, design ed with sweetheart neckline ac cented with seed pearls and iri descents, fitted bodice and long tapering sleeves. The full skirt was trimmed with appliques of lace, and a front panel of pleat ed tulle enchanceu the .bouffant floor length skirt which featured a chapel length train. They wore identical dresses of white nylon dotted swiss over satin, styled with round necklinees. They had matching headbands and acces sories, and carried colonial bou quets of carnations. Acting as best man was Den ton Colfack, Bristow. Ushering were Ray Coburn, O’Neill, and Dale Dunn, Atkinson. Joyce Angus, Spencer, and Gwenda Syfie, O’Neill, were flow er girls. Dennis Lampman, Ano ka, was ring bearer. Two hundred and fifty guests attended the reception which was held in the church parlors. The cake was baked and decorated by the bridegroom’s mother, Mrs. Adrian Mitchell, and Mrs. Wil bur Mitchell, Mrs. Ed Horst and Mrs. Russell Angus. The bride attended Chadron Teachers college and Seward Con cordia college. She has taught school in Holt, Boyd and Mad ison counties. Mr. Mitchell attended Butte high school and served in the U. S. Army. He is presently en gaged in ranching south of Butte where the couple is residing Jacqueline Bennet Weds Joseph Sobotka The marriage of Miss Jacque line Kay Bennett, Omaha, daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. G. N. Ben nett, Omaha, and Joseph Sobot ka, Omaha, son of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sobotka, O’Neill, was per formed June 11 in the Pearl Mem orial Methodist church in Oma ha. Officiating at the ceremony was the Rev. Albert Lophthome. The altar was decorated with white mums and roses, and 12 pew candles and white bows were ad ditional church decorations. The bride chose a white flat tering dome silhouette gown, fashioned of Peau D’Ange lace and highlighted by seed pearls and sequins. The skirt swept into a bouffant back of Bougent Peaa. Her veil of French illusion was held by a crown of sequins. She carried a Christian Dior rose on a white Bible, surrounded by stephanotis. Miss Sharlene Raye Owen, Om aha, was maid of honor. Brides maids were Mrs. James O'Don nell, Denver, Colo., Miss Jacque line Margrave, and Miss Phyllis Nelson, both of Omaha. They wore identical sheath gowns of ■white pure silk. Their headnieoes were white veils and they each carried one Happiness rose. Rodney L. Bennett, Omaha, brother of the bride, served as best man. Ushers were Lloyd Simmons, Hastings, Richard Fox, Ida Grove, la., and John Henning sen, Omaha. Following the ceremony, a re ception for 275 persons was given by the bride’s parents at the church./ The bride attended North high school at Los Angeles. Gloria Grimes Weds Roger Lyle Hoppe At Chambers CHAMBERS — In the presence of 200 guests Sunday afternoon, June 11, the marriage of Miss Gloria Ruth Grimes, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence A Grimes of Milford, formerly of Cham bers to Roger Lyle Hoppe, son of Mr. and Mrs. Virgil L. Hoppe, Dorchester, was solemnized at the Milford Methodist church. Baskets of mums and candela bra decorated the altar. Candle lighters were Miss Charlene Obermeyer and Gary Henke. The double ring ceremony was performed at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Cecil Bliss, Milford. The wedding music was played by Miss Jolene Eberspacher, organist. Ronald Hoppe, brother of the bridegroom was vocal soloist. The bride selected a gown of white imported chantilly lace over taffeta. Opalescent pail lettes highlighted the lace scal lopes of the Sabrina neckline and the brief sleeves were comple mented by mitts of matching lace. Below the slim waist, ac cented at the back by two large silk roses, the skirt flared to hemline width and ended in a whisper train. A crown of jeweled lace held her illusion veil, and she carried a white Bible ornamented with a white orchid, carnations and stephano tis. The attendants, Miss Charlotte Grimes, sister of the bride, maid of honor, Mrs. Gary McFarland, matron of honor and Miss Martha Hickerson, bridesmaid, all of Mil ford, were costumed in aqua dacron frocks and matching crowns. They carried white lace fans and carnations tinted to match their frocks. Miss Lori Portz acted as flower girl and John Stutzman was ringbearor. Gordon Hoppe, Dorchester, served his brother as best man. and Gleason Grimes, brother of the bride, and Jerry Backmeyer, Lincoln were groomsmen. Ushers were Gleason Gimes, Jerry Back meyer and Erlis Hermen. A reception was held in the Fellowship hall of the church immediately following the cere mony. Mrs. Richard Read, Mil ford, cut the cake and Miss Edythe Grimes and Mrs. Bill Cox, Lincoln, poured. The bride is a graduate of the Milford high school and Reece and Sybills School of Hairdress ing in Lincoln. She is employed at Lucille Duerrs Beauty Salon in Seward. The bridegroom is a graduate of the Dorchester high school and is employed as salesman for Rediger Chevrolet Co., of Mil ford. After a week’s wedding trip to Estes Park, Colo., Mr. and Mrs. Hoppe will make their home at the Skyline Trailer Court in Mil ford. Harrington retum to her home Monday after visit ing her brother and sister-in-law. Mr. and Mrs. Charles M. Daly of Omaha, former O’Neill residents, and attending the wedding of Miss Mary Kay Daly and Dr. John J. Graham of Spokane, Wash. The wedding was performed June 10 in St. Margaret Mary's church in Omaha. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard L. Daly. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Daly brought Mrs. Harrington to her home. Family Reunion Held Members of the Charles Ziska family gathered at the home of Marvin Ziska Sunday for a fam ily reunion. Present were Mrs. Bob Hazelhurst and family and Mrs. Neil Harkins and family, Denver; Mr. and Mrs. Walt Kaup and family, Stuart; Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ziska and family, At kinson. Marvin, Kenneth, Mrs. Hazelhurst, Mrs. Harkins and Mrs. Kaup are children of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ziska. There were 32 members present, includ ing 22 grandchildren. Officers Installed Over 100 women attended St. Patrick’s Altar society Sunday evening in St. Mary’s gymnasi um. New officers and chairmen were installed for the ccming year. Miss Hilda Gallagher re places Mrs. James Gallagher as president, and Mrs. William Kel ly is the new vice president. Officers remaining for another year are Mrs. Joe Dufek, secre tary, and Mrs. Bernard Bazel man, treasurer. Warren Bugess and childen, Patti Jo and Jerry, have been visiting this week at the home of his parents, Dr. and Mrs. L. A. Burgess. Another daughter of Warren’s, Kathy Sue, accom panied her mother to a Girl Scout camp this week where Mrs. War ren Burgess is serving as a coun selor.
