Mrs. Hattie Tibbets Returns
From Winter Visit in Arizona
Mrs. Hattie Tibbets returned
home Friday from Tucson, Ariz.,
where she had spent the winter
■with her niece, Mrs. Hale Os
borne and family. Mrs. Tibbets
■was accompanied home by her
niece, Mrs. Donald Grimes of Ft.
Collins, Colo., who spent several
days visiting her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. E. R. Carpenter at
Chambers and her brother-in-law
and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Dean
Stevens and family at Atkinson.

Mrs. Lloyd Gleed drove to
Brady April 18 to attend the
spring musical of the Brady
school which was under the di
rection of her daughter, Doreen
Gleed. Mrs. Leo Adams of At
kinson accompanied her.
Mr. and Mrs. Roy Russell of Ft.
Worth, Tex., were overnight
guests Saturday in the Raymond
Beed home and also spent Sunday
there. Mrs. Russell is the former
Mary Lou Hoerle of Chambers,
a niece of Mrs. Beed. Other
guests in the Beed home Sunday
were Mr. and Mrs. Glen Grimes
and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Beed and
family.
The Home Circle club met Ap
ril 17 at the home of Mrs. Bob
Koci with Mrs. Emerson Loes
ke as co-hostess. Twelve mem
bers and one visitor were pre
sent to enjoy the noon meal. En
velopes for the cancer drive
were distributed. “Mystery Sis
ter” birthday gifts were opened.
Lunch was served by the hostess
es. The next meeting will be at
the home of Alice Johnson with
Mrs. Dellie Fauquier, co-hostess,
May 17.

penter home Sunday were Mrs.

The Womans Society of Chris- |
tian Service met at the Methodist
church Thursday with 21 mem
bers present. The executive board
met prior to the opening of the
lesson to complete reports and
to dispose of various matters
coming up in the near future
Mrs. E. R. Carpenter led the
worship service then Mrs. T. E
Newhouse and Mrs. James
Grimes presented the last two
chapters of the study. At the
business session conducted by the
president, Mrs. G. H. Winter
mote, a report of the district
meeting at Bloomfield was given
and a letter from a Nebraska
girl, Sandra McCaig, who is a
missionary to Sarawak was read.
It was voted to present Bibles to
all Methodist seniors. It was an
nounced that the pledge service
would be held May 4 and the in
stallation of officers and a mem
orial service will be held May
18. Lunch was served by the hos
tesses, Mrs. William Ermer and
Mrs. LaVern Hoerle.
The Valley Center Extension
club met Friday at the home of
Mrs. Raymond Beed with 14
members answering roll call by
telling of some older person they
especially admired and why.
There was one visitor, Mrs. Don
ald Grimes, present. The meet
ing was in charge of Mrs.
Lloyd Wintermote, president.
A letter from Catherine Indra,
Home Extension Agent, urging
members to read more books
was read; also a report on the
council meeting was given. Plans
for the National Home Demon
stration Tea May 10 was discus
sed. The lesson on “Senior Citi
zens” was presented by Mrs.
Clyde Kiltz and Mrs. E. R. Car
penter, Lunch was served by the
hostess.
Mr. and Mrs. John Honeywell
drove to Omaha Monday for a
short visit with her brother-in-law
and sister, and her brother, Ray
mond Urban.
The girls glee club from
Chambers high school received
an excellent rating at the Dis
trict Music Contest In O’Neill
April 20. Duane Miller of O’
Neill is their teacher.
The annual spring conference
and work shop meeting of the
District Garden clubs was held
Monday at the Methodist church
basement. A covered dish lunch
eon was served at noon. The
Beautiful Valley Garden club of
Chambers was in charge of ar
rangements. The State President
and the State Vice President, also
Mrs. Dewey Schaffer of O’Neill,
participated in the program.

Fourteen members and one vi
sitor were present April 19 at the
home of Mrs. James M. McMa
han when the Inman Workers
Project club met for the '-egular
meeting. Mrs. Clifford Sobotka,
president, presided. She also
gave a report on the recent meet
ing held in O’Neill for club presi
dents. Mrs. Lewis Kopecky and
Mrs. Clifford Sobotka presented
the lesson. Mrs. McMahan served
a lunch at the close of the after
noon.
Bill DeLong and Lyle Gillogly,
who attend college at Grand
Island, spent the weekend with
their parents, Mr. and Mrs
Merle DeLong and Mr. and Mrs.
Glenn Gillogly.
Mrs. Ray Siders entered St.
Anthony’s hospital Monday for
medical treatment.
Mr. and Mrs. Leon Tompkins
spent Tuesday in Norfolk on
business.
Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Couch re
turned Tuesday from Montpelier,
Ida., where they had spent the
weekend on business.
Mrs. James McMahan attended
a special meeting of the Butte
OES Thursday evening at Butte,
for the purpose of initiation

Bonesteel, S. D., chapters were
guests of the Butte chapter.
Mr. and Mrs. Bill Butterfield J
visited Mr. and Mrs. Dave Anson
at Ewing Wednesday evening.
Mr. and Mrs. Milo Gorgen and
son moved to Lynch Tuesday
where Milo will be employed.

day anniversary was held Sun
day at the Keyes home. Those
attending were Mrs. E. E.
Keyes and Ralph anil Donna of
Newport, Mr. and Mrs. Karl
Keyes, Mr. and Mrs. Donald
Keyes and family, Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence Hansen and
family, Mildred Keyes and
Blanche and Marvin Rous**, all
of Inman. Mrs. Keyes received
many gifts and cards In honor
of the occasion.
Ralph Sholes, who is employed
at Atkinson, visited over the
weekend with his mother, Mrs.
Violet Sholes. Mrs. Sholes visited
her daughter, Mrs. Dick Clark
and baby daughter Friday after
noon at St Anthony's hospital
Charles Young, James Sholes
and Bill Stamp, who are em
ployed near Sutton, spent the
weekend at their homes here.
