She had been with her mother, Mrs. Will 1am Fryrear a few days at Hast ings where Mrs. Fryrear had sur gery on her eyes Wednesday morning. Mr. Fryrear was also at Hastings with Mrs. Fryrear. Amelia News By Miss Florence Lindsey Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Forbes went to North Platte to attend a horse sale Monday of last week. They returned home Wednesday. Their daughter, Donna, stayed with Mrs. Maude Forbes while they were away. Vern Sageser took his mother, Mrs. Link Sageser, to a doctor April 10 for medical care. Sherry and Bonneloe Hansen and Michael Pospichal took eighth grade examinations at Atkinson April 10. They are Amelia stu dents. Bruce Waldo, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Waldo, was a patient in the Atkinson hospital a few days last week. He was able to return home Thursday. Ricky Slaymaker, little two year old grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Fix, was hospitalized a few days last week in the At kinson hospital. Mrs. Fix stayed at the Slaymaker home a few days to help care for him. The Frahm children have been ill with sore throat and colds. Mrs. Frahm and her mother, Mrs. Maude Forbes, took little Gregg Frahm to the doctor in Atkinson Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Louis Forbes of Atkinson, Mrs. Irvin Forbes and Mrs. Hienie Frahm were in Omaha Thursday. The Helping Hand club met at the home of Mrs. Berl Waldo Thursday. There were 11 mem bers and one visitor, Mrs. Ber tha Sammons, present. Mrs. Ar thur Hiatt and Mrs. Lew Back haus had charge of the enter tainment for the afternoon. The next meeting will be the last for the season and will be held at the Methodist church annex. Mrs. Vem Sageser returned home Friday from Omaha and Council Bluffs, la. Her father has been in an Omaha hospital for several weeks. She visited her mother, Mrs. E. G. Minter in Council Bluffs. Mrs. Joe Stoecker has been in ill health for sometime. She expects to have major surgery at a Norfolk hospital the last week of April. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Coolidge were Burwell visitors Wednesday. Sam Gilman has returned to his home at Amelia this week. He spent the winter months at Glen dale, Ariz. Mr. and Mrs. Orland Fryrear were in Norfolk Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Gruen berg. Linda and Carol, and Will iam Fryear visited Mrs. Fry rear at Mary Lanning hospital in Hastings Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Burge, Joyce and Bruce wont to Omaha Saturday to visit their son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Nielsen, Rodney and Bradley Martin. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Forbes and family of Whitman, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Briggs and family of Rose and Mr. and Mrs. Hienie Frahm and family visited at the home of Mrs. Maude Forbes Saturday eve ning. Mrs. Forbes returned home with her son, Ray, for a week’s visit. The Altar Society members and their families of the Catholic church met at the Joe Homolka home Sunday and enjoyed a pic nic dinner. Bob Baily was honored at a birthday party April 11 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn White. He teaches at the John Mohr school and makes his home at Glenn Whites. His home is in Mason City la. Mrs. Bob Waldo accompanied Mrs. Lloyd Waldo to Chambers Friday evening to attend the sen ior class play. Little Tamara Clemens, young est daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clif ford Clemens, was in the Atkin son hospital several days last week with pneumonia. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rees were callers at the home of Mrs. Will Matthauser in Burwell Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn White, Mrs. S. C. Barnett and Mrs. Lindsey , attended the funeral of Mrs. Ho mer Davis at O’Neill Monday. Mrs. Davis died Friday at her home in O’Neill. Mr. and Mrs. Davis had been in Amelia the previous Friday to attend the ■ funeral of Mrs. Libby Watson. They formerly lived in the Ame lia community. Blake Ott was an O’Neill call er Friday. Tommie Doolittle and Bus En body were in Chambers Friday to attend the Thomson sale. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Coolidge and Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cool fdge and Kenneth visited at the W. E. Raglands at Page Sunday afternoon. Mrs. Ragland has been ill. Bible Study class meet at the Methodist church April 23. Mr. and Mrs. Billie Claussen, O’Neill visited Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rees Saturday afternoon. Janeth Oetter had chicken pox last week and was absent from school the entire week. Mrs. Delbert Edwards accom panied Mr. and Mrs. Ed Thorin of .O’Neill to Omaha Tuesday of last week to visit Mrs. Bill Ed wards at the University hospital. Mrs. Doris Baker was a dinner and supper guest Sunday at the Lyle Fixs. Revival services began Tues day evening at the Amelia Be thany Free Methodist church and will be held every evening at 8 p.m. for the next two weeks. The Rev. C. V. McCullough is the speaker. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Fisher. The Rev. and Mrs. Ernest Chambers and Darlene attended a prayer conference at Kearney Wednesday and Thursday of last week. Mrs. George Fullerton went to Rapid City, S. D., Wednesday to visit her brother-in-law and sis ter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Moore and Jackie and the new baby. Patricia Marie. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Widman and Mrs. Edith Anderson were dinner guests Sunday at Earnie Johnstons. Mr. and Mrs. Blake Ott and granddaughter. Sally Landrum, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Adams and Don were sight seeing at Picks town, S- D. Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Rusty Adair, Al len and Dick; Mr. and Mrs. Art Doolittle and Mr. and Mrs. Ed gar Peterson visited at Bob Adairs Friday evening. Mr. and Mrs. August Pospichal. Richard and Michael, attended the wedding of Don Dickau at At kinson Saturday morning. Dale Doolittle attended the Dickau-Shaffer wedding in Atkin son Saturday morning. He was one of the attendants. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Everett went to Atkinson Sunday to as sist Mrs. Roliie Everetts at Hickmans Store. Mrs. Everetts has been assisting at the store while the Hickmans are with their son, who is seriously ill. The son of Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Worden is seriously ill in an Om aha hospital following an injury while playing at school. We have been unable to get further par ticulars. Bob Adair entered the hospital at Minneapolis, Minn., Monday morning for a medical checkup. Charlie Sigman accompanied him to Springview. Minn, to visit his son, Cleve Sigman and fam ily. Mr. and Mrs. Dunk Peterson caled at Marvin Doolittles Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Art Doolittle went to O’Neill Monday and were din ner guests of Mrs. Gertie Mar eellus. Dick Bogae of Atkinson was an overnight guest Friday with Dale Doolittle. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Peterson. Mr. and Mrs. Art Doolittle and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Adair and children attended the wedding dance of Mr. and Mrs. Don Dick au at Atkinson Saturday evening. Mrs. Lew Backhaus has been helping Mrs. Dick Jarman for several days. Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Burge took their daughter, Esther, to the doctor Saturday to receive medical treatments. Jerald McClennahan took his pupils to the Valley Center school Wednesday where they competed in a baseball game. Jerry Heyne of Wayne State Teachers college and a room mate, Lanny Bleckner, were weekend guests at the Vernon Heyne home. They returned to college Sunday evening. Monday eve ning callers of Theresa Levi were Mrs. Ann Olberding and Mrs. Cal lista Weichman. A birthday party honoring Shel ly Weber, three year old daugh ter of Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Web er, was held at her home April 12. Attending were Mrs. Carroll Olson and David; Mrs. Max Kunz, Diane and Maxine; Mirs. Mary Frances Vitt, who is vis iting her sister, Mrs. Max Kunz was a guest. Marilyn Goebel, Kathy Schafer, Donna Hamik, Mary Shearer, Ju dy Babl and Carolyn Givens sur prised Diane Olberding on her 14th birthday Tuesday afternoon at her home. Games and records were played. Diane opened the gifts and the group enjoyed a wiener roast and birthday cake served by Diane’s mother, Mrs. Art Olberding. Mrs. James Rador and sons, Steven and Danny, left Tuesday morning for their home in Om aha after having spent the past week with Mr. and Mrs. Mahlon Shearer and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Karl Bernt were pleasantly surprised Sunday evening when their Pitch club brought well filled baskets for the evening meal. The evening was spent playing pitch follow ed by a late lunch and the Ber nts were wished much happiness in their new home. Thirteen boys went to the Carl Katzer home after school Thurs day to help Dennis Katzer cele brate his eighth birthday. After playing several games a lunch was served by his mother.
