Robert H. Eilers in
Catholic Ceremony
St. Patrick’s Catholic church
was the scene for the wedding
Saturday of Miss Sharon Han
cock, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
J. Ed Hancock, and Robert H.
Eilers, son of Mr. and Mrs.
August Eilers of Neligh.
The double ring ceremony was
performed by the Rt. Rev.
Timothy J. O’Sullivan at 11:30
a.m. Appropriate wedding music
was played by Sister Flores at
the organ.
The bride chose a floor length
gown of silk organza. The basque
bodice front was detailed with in
tricate embroidery, sprinkled
with sequins and pearls. Em
broidery enhanced the bracelet
sleeves, skirt front and the
sweeping chapel train. The
double French illusion veil was
held by a sparkling crystal
crown. She carried a white
prayer book centered with an
arrangement of white roses and
carnations.
Mrs. Robert Edwin, sister of
the bride, was matron of honor.
Junior bridesmaid was Miss
Susan Abart. They wore identical
dresses of pink and aqua, re
spectively, which were styled in
nylon organza ballerina length.
Schiffle embroidery trimmed the
bouffant skirts and the fitted V
neck bodices ended in Schiffle
trimmed cummerbunds. Match
ing crown shaped headpieces
completed the outfits. They car
ried colonial bouquets of white
pom pons with streamers.
James Hamill of Norfolk
served as best man and Thomas
Roth of Neligh was groomsman.
Ushers were Francis Ruter
bories of Oakdale and Robert Er
win.
Following the ceremony a wed
ding breakfast was served at the
L & R cafe for the immediate
family. In the afternoon a recep
tion was attended by 92 guests
at the cafe. A three-tier wedding
, cake centered the bride’s table
and it was cut and served by
Mrs. Duane Booth. Mrs.
Dwayne DeVall presided at the
coffee service. Miss Mary Ann
Eilers of Neligh was in charge
of the guest book. Mrs. John Lee
Farrier and Mrs. Owen Davis
took care of the gifts. Assisting
with the serving were Mrs. Fran
cis Ruterbories and Mrs. Keith
Abart.
After returning April 23 from
their wedding trip to New Mexico
the couple will be at home east of
Neligh.
The bride is a graduate of O’
Neill high school and has been
employed as bookkeeper in the
National Bank of Norfolk.
Mr. Eilers attended Neligh
high school and is engaged in
farming with his father.
Bernadette Shaffer
Weds Donald Dickau
At Atkinson Saturday
ATKINSON—A 10 a.m. cere
mony in St. Joseph’s Catholic
church in Atkinson was held Sat
urday for the marriage of Miss
Bernadette Shaffer, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Shaffer of
Atkinson, and Donald Dickau,
of Valley, son of Mr. and Mrs.
Lou Dickau of Atkinson.
The Rev. R. Morocco per
formed the ceremony in the pre
sence of over 100 guests.
A white lace and net over taf
feta gown was chosen by the
bride and it was designed with
high neckline, long sleeves and
a chapel train. Her bouquet was
formed with an orchid and step
h{M?ssS Joan Shaffer of Atkinson,
sister of the bride, was maid of
honor, and Miss Jan Gans of Lin
coln was bridesmaid. They wore
identical gowns of orchid nylon
and lace over taffeta. They car
ried bouquets of carnations.
Raymond Shaffer of Atkinson,
brother of the bride, served as
best man. and Dale Doolittle of
Amelia was groomsman. Mick
Kerts of Omaha and Dick Bogue
of Atkinson were ushers.

Pospichal of Atkinson and ring
bearer was Tommy Kohle of
Stuart.
A wedding dinner was served
at the Knights of Columbus hall
at noon and at 2-4 p.m. a recep
tion was held.
The couple will reside at Val
ley.
The bride was employed as
receptionist at St. Anthony’s hos
pital in O’Neill before her mar
riage.

Honored on
Anniversary
ROYAL—An estimated 200 per
sons were present at the open
house celebration of the golden
wedding observance of Mr. and
Mrs. Clarence D. Curtis Sunday
afternoon.
A dinner was served at the
American Legion hall in Orchard
after which the open house was
held in the new auditorium at
Royal. The day’s activities were
planned by their children, Wilson
of Minneapolis, Fremont of
Royal, Mrs. William Redenbo of
Stapleton and Keith of Omaha.
All of the grandchildren, 14 in
number, were present and they
were among the following who
took part in a program: Mrs.
Ervin Sawyer, Mary Lou Reden
bo, Mrs. Dale Weber, Kathy
Redenbo, Mrs. R. E. Trautman,
Clarence Curtis, Mrs. R. J. Her
ing and Jan Curtis.

ding 50 years ago, were present.

Mr. and Mrs. Henry Kloppen
borg of Emmet have moved to
the Harnish home which they re
cently purchased.

of Creighton were guests Thurs
day of Mrs. Rosa Bowers.
Lee Brady jr. has resigned from
Cudahy, Packing company after
12 years service as salesman,
and has accepted a position with
the Johnson Allendorfer Food
Brokers at Omaha.
He left last week to start his
new duties and his family will
join him as soon as school term
is completed. A daughter, Sher
ry, is in the eighth grade in O’
Neill high school, and another
daughter, Kathy, will complete
her freshman year at Hastings
college this spring.
Mrs. Brady has been employ
ed at the Virgil A. Laursen ag
ency for six years.

placing Mr. Brady as the Cuda
hy representative in this terri
tory.

creation room of the Methodist
church with Mrs. Harold Piersol
and Mrs. Andrew Jensen as hos
tesses. Mrs. Dale Weber presid

dames Everett Johnston, Clay
ton Meisner, Archie Brandt and
Walter Neutler. Assisting at the

Mrs. Robert Clements was
elected president of Friends of
St. Mary’s at the final meeting
of the season which was held
Monday evening in St. Mary’s
gym. Other officers for the com

Cimfels are Hosts
Couples club met Sunday eve
ning at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Rynold Cimfel. Cards furnished
the entertainment for the evening
and the prizes were won by Mr.
and Mrs. Robert Clements and
Mrs. Dale Kersenbrock. Mr. and
Mrs. Kersenbrock were guests.
The hostess served refreshments
at the close of the evening.
Honored at Shower
O’Neill high school faculty
wives entertained at a “pink and
blue” shower Tuesday afternoon
for Mrs. Ed Rech and Mrs.
James Luft. The group went to
the Luft home with gifts, where
they surprised the two guests of
honor.

Members of Hunt’s bowling
team met with their husbands

Vacationers Return
Dr. and Mrs. J. P. Brown re
turned April 8 from spending the
winter months in Phoenix, Ariz.;

returned to their home on South
Morton from Palmetto. Fla.
where they have been since
Christmas: Mrs. Vannie Newman,
who went to visit her daughter,
Mrs. Gerry Babl and family at
Kimball in November and has
spent the past six weeks at San
Jose, Calif, with a son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs, Jim Mor
ris and family returned Tuesday
to her home here.
To Clean Up Park

Fifty Members Attend
There were 50 World War I
Veterans and Auxiliary members
for the regular meeting Monday
evening at the Legion hall. Plans
were made for a covered dish
supper to be held May 15. Re

dames Harden Anspach, Archie
Bowen, E. Clark and Mabel
Shobe.
Move To California
Mr. and Mrs. Don Borg and
children have moved to Califor
nia where they will make their
future home. They were accom
panied by her mother, Mrs. Lor
etta Hynes, who will visit for an
indefinite time with her son, Ed,
at Los Angeles.
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Beha re
turned Friday after visiting
three weeks with relatives in Os
kosh, Wise., and with their daugh
ter, Mrs. A. P. Rinzel and Mr.
Rinzel at St. Paul, Minn.
Mr. and Mrs. John Baker of
Omaha were in O’Neill over the
weekend visiting his mother, Mrs.
H. J. Lohaus and Mr. Lohaus.

Enters Hospital
Mrs. Bill McIntosh was admitt
ed to the Methodist hospital in
Omaha last week for medical at
tention. Mr. McIntosh expects to
bring her home the latter part
of this week.
Surprised at Party
Carroll Grenier of Grand Is
land visited relatives here over
the weekend and was given a sur
prise party at the Garland
Schoenrock home by employees
of the Lee store after work Sat
urday evening. Mr. Grenier, for
mer assistant manager at the O’-'
Neill store, was recently promot
ed to the same position at Grand
Island. The group presented him
with a gift. Cards and refresh
ments offered the diversion for
the evening.

Catholic Daughters held their
regular social meeting Tuesday
evening in the KC hall. Cards
furnished entertainment and Mrs.
Tess Protovinsky won a prize in
pinochle, and Mrs. Gertrude Mar
cellus in pitch. Mrs. Zella Cook
was chairman and Mrs. Joe
Ramold was co-chairman. Lunch
was served.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Clauson
were hosts at a fish dinner Sat
urday at the Town House. The
party adjourned to the Clauson
home following dinner and cards
furnished the entertainment.
Sharon Is Hostess
The Midway Ranchers and
Ranchettes 4-H club met at the
home of Sharon Anson Friday
evening April 14 with all mem
bers present. Roll call was an
swered by the girls trying on their
spring hats that they had made
and the boys wore neck ties they
made. The girls taking the baking
project gave a demonstration on
forming and baking bread. Mrs.
George Nelson had charge of the
recreation. Next meeting will be
at the home of Sharleen and Fred
Johring May 12. Mrs. Anson serv

“Our Senior Citizens” was the
theme of the lesson given by Mrs.
Carl Hubei and Mrs. Jim Koenig.
A quiz and discussion was held.

In California
Miss Beverly Ann McKee and
Larry Gene McConnell were mar
ried April 1 at the Frist Presby
terian church in Woodlake, Calif.
The Rev. Melvin Pederson of
ficiated at the 8 p.m. ceremony
in the presence of 200 guests.
Earl McKee was soloist.
Miss McKee is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Norman McKee of
Woodlake* Calif. Mr. McConnell
is the son of Mrs. Howard Mc
Connell of O’Neill.
The bride appeared in a white
Chantilly lace gown with a fitted
bodice and long tapered sleeves.
The skirt was fashioned with a
midriff of appliqued sequined
rose lace. The back gave the ef
fect of a train having alternating
layers of ruffled tulle and lace.
Her fingertip hand rolled veii
was held in place with a high
crown of pearls lighted by crys
tal points. She carried a bouquet
of an orchid and carnations.
Miss Karen Verboon of Yuba
City, Calif., and Miss Beverly
Britton of Three Rivers, Calif.,
were bridesmaids. They were at
tired in dresses of blue satin fea
turing swirling skirts and criss
cross cummerbunds. They carried
nosegays of white and sprayed
blue carnations.

Calif., acted as best man. Seat
ing the guests were Robert N.
Marlin of Visalia, Calif., and Pat
McConnell of O’Neill, brother of
the bridegroom.
Following the ceremony a re
ception for 200 guests was given
by the Church for the honored
couple. The wedding table was
centered with a four-tier cake
with blue trim, flanked by white
lilacs and candelabra.
Miss McKee is a graduate of
the Woodlake high school and is
employed by the Bank of Amer
ica at Tujuna, Calif.
Mr. McConnell is a graduate of
the O’Neill high school and is em
ployed by Randall Nurseries in
California.
The couple is making their
home in Visalia, Calif., following
a wedding trip.

Miss Mary Gatz, accompanied by
Miss Alvara Ramm, provided ap
propriate wedding music.
The bride wore a floor length
gown of Chanailly lace designed
with lace bodice, tapered sleeves
and Sabrina neckline which had
been re-emoroidered with iride
scent sequins and seed pearls.
The skirt of lace, with a diagonal
panel of nylon tulle across the
front, was embroidered with
matching lace flowers and alter
nate ruffles of lace and nylon tul
le down the back. Her fingertip
French illusion veil was held in
place by a double crown. She car
ried a bouquet of white roses.
Miss Harriett^ Zimmerman of
Bartlett was maid of honor, and
bridesmaids were Miss Gerlyn Ita
of Bartlett, Miss Beverly Jack
son of Norfolk and Miss Rita
Boyle. They wore identical dress
es of lavender taffeta with over
skirts of lavender chiffon with
rhinestone trim at the neckline.
Silver hats and matching acces
sories competed the ensembles.
They carried bouquets of laven
der and white pom pons.
Virgil Holz served as best man,
and attendants to the bridegroom
were Walter and Kenneth Gros
se, and Rolland Closson of Ced
ar Rapids.
Susie Kasik of Madison was
flower girl and Billy Jackson,
brother of the bride, was ring
bearer. Larry Burival, brother of
the bridegroom was an acolyte.
A reception was given by the
bride’s parents following a wed
ding dinner at the Town House.
Assisting at the reception were
Miss Mary Stairs of Norfolk and
Miss Janice Atkinson of Bartlett,
who cut and served the wedding
cake. Punch was served by Miss
Clair Holz and Miss Janice Stein
berg. Miss Neva 9obotka of In
man and Miss Joanne Lansworth
presided at the coffee service.
The gift table was arranged by
Miss Nina Sorenson of Omaha
and Miss LaDonna McNulty, and
Miss Helen Sofootka of Inman took
charge of the guest book.
The bride graduated from
Wheeler county high school and
has been employed as a tele
phone operator by the Northwest
ern Bell Telephone company in
O’Neill.
Mr . Burival attended O’Neill
high school and is engaged in
farming with his father.
Following a week’s wedding
trip to Arizona, the couple will
be at home at 129 E. Clay street
in O’Neill.
