daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eugene
Schmeichel, and Janies Larson,

son, were married Friday eve
ning at the United Presbyterian
church iwirsonage in Ewing.
Or. William H. Ross performed
the ceremony.
The bride chose a white lace
street length dress, styled with
f ill skirt, fitted bodice and chif
fon brimmed neckline. Her short
veil was caught by a head band.
She wore an orchid corsage.
Her attendants, Miss Susan Bur
ney and Miss B. Morrow, wore
similar full skirted dresses in la
vendar and aqua shades, respec
tively, and small hats. Their cor
sages were of white carnations.
Dean Larson, brother of the
bridegroom, and Stanley Schmei
chel, brother of the bride, attend
ed the bridegroom.
The bride is a graduate of O'
Neill public high school and is
presently employed as secretary
in the offices of Superintendent
Milton Baack.
Mr. Larsen graduated from O’
Neill public high school and is
attending Norfolk Junior college.
.After a wedding trip to Kansas
City, Kan., the couple returned
to O’Neill where they will make
their home this summer, follow
ing the close of the school season.

Mr. and Mrs. Harry Ressel
plan to leave Thursday for Park
Rapids, Minn., where they will
spend the summer in their cabin
enjoying the fishing and relaxa
tion.
The Ressels plan to return in
the fall to take up residence
again. They have sold the home
in which they reside to Mr. and
Mrs. Dean Halltxtk and two child
ren of Ord. Mr. Hallock will as
sume his duties Monday as Con
servation Aid with the Soil Con
servation Service. They moved to
O’Neill Wednesday evening.
Mr. Hallock replaces Willis
Sanders who has been transferred
to Ord. Mr. Sanders left for Ord
this week and his wife and four
children will remain here as Mrs.
Sanders is teaching in O'Neill
public school. She has accepted
a contract to teach here next
year and at the present tame,
plans to honor her contract.
Family Reunion Held
All members of Mrs. Elroy
Lieb's family were present for a
get-together Sunday at a dinner
in the Lieb home. There were 42
present for the occasion as fol
lows: Mr. and Mrs. William Der
ickson and family, Mr. and Mrs.
Albert Derickson and family, Mr.
and Mrs. Merle Spangier afcd
family, Mr. and Mrs. Sammy
Derickson and family and Mrs.

Arden Laursen and daughter of

Boyd of Omaha. The latter guests
have spent the past week visit
ing here.
Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Moore re
turned Saturday from a three
weeks visit in California and
Arizona where they visited with
relatives and friends. In Arizona
they were guests of Mrs. F. Dish
ner at Sun City.
Mr. and Mrs. D. D. DeBolt
spent 9unday at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Vere Butler in Bassett.
Phoenix Livewires Meet
The Phoenix Livewires 4-H club
met with Burt Fauser at District
14 schoolhouse March 29 at which
time roll call was answered with
original poems about Easter or
spring. The girl’s baking class
demonstrated kneading of dough
and showed different shapes of
rolls. The gardening class is to
make markers for each row in
their gardens. For recreation the
group enjoyed square and folk
dancing led toy Harold and Aud
rey Coburn. Mrs. Fauser served
lunch at the close of the evening.
Next meeting will be with Clint
Hipke. Enid Johnson, reporter.

family spent Sunday in Meadow
Grove at the home of his mo
ther, Mrs. Maude McIntosh.

Mrs. John Binkerd and children
of Bloomfield spent the weekend
at the Melvin Spangler home. The
Binkerds are moving to North
Platte where Mr. Binkerd is em
ployed on the daily paper.

Mr. and Mrs. Glen Tomlinson of
Spencer were Sunday visitors in
the Ray Hill home at Orchard.

Joan Wilson, who has been
spending Easter vacation in O’

resume her studies at Christian
college at Columbia, Mo. Her par

day to Regis college in Denver
following a few days with his

Ladies Aid Meets
Christ Lutheran Ladies aid met
Tuesday evening. Pastor A. S.
Gedwillio opened the meeting
with prayer, followed by the
LWWL topic, “Chosen to Bear
Fruit” presented by Mrs. Dallas
Behrens. Sixteen members and
one guest, Mrs. Melvin FiscUs,
answered roll call by naming a
Bible personality. Discussion was
held of a Mother and Daughter
banquet which will be held May
7 with Mrs. Behrens as general
chairman. Consideration was giv
en to a church reference library
perhaps to be established at a
later date. Mrs. Don Kellner and
Mrs. Duane McKay were hos
tesses.
Mr. and Mrs. Richard Eller
broek and son, Allen, of Bellvue
visited over Saturday and Sunday
with Mr. and Mrs. Norbert Uhl.
Also home for the Easter holi
days were their daughter, Mary
Lou, and son, John Joe, both of
Omaha. John Joe has been work
ing as a CPA in 9heldon, la., for
several months.
Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Parker re
turned Saturday after spending
the winter months in Florida and
the southern states.

THE CIGAR STORE INDIAN shown above (left) will be Uie
symbol of the J. C. Penney Company’s fifty-ninth anniversary. Stores
across the nation will observe the event April 6-22, tying the cigar
store Indian into their advertising and store decorations. The O’
Neill Penney store will open festivities Thursday morning with a
breakfast for employees and a contest for the most “Indian-like”
costume, Manager J. E. Enke said. The miss at the right in the photo
was not identified, but she does add interest to the picture. Now a
relic of by-gone days the wooden Indian was common when J. C.
Penney founded the company in 1902 in Kemmerer, Wyo.

day at the Wesleyan Methodist

They are Brian Dwaine, 10
month-old son of Mr. and Mrs.
Wayne Root of Atkinson, and Gar
ry Dean, 5-month-old son of Mr.
and Mrs. Lawrence Thurlow.
New Home
CELIA—Mr. and Mrs. Omer
Poynts have returned from Con
cord, Calif., and will move into
their new home on the fox farm
northwest of Atkinson on the Stu
art-Naper road.
Mr. Poynts will be employed by
Ed Webber and Terry Wilson.
They were accompanied here
by their grandson, Johnny House,
who assisted them with the dri
ving. He plans to make an in
definite stay here. Mr. and Mrs.
Poynts and Johnny are staying
in the Mark Hendricks home at
the present time.

O'Neill High Wins First
In Class A Competition
O’Neill High copped first place
in the class A competition in the
Wrangler’s Relay track meet held
Wednesday. The O’Neill track
sters gathered 46 Vi points. Second
place was won by Broken Bow
with 26Vi and Ord placed third
with 23 3/7.
In class B competition Ravenna
won first with 52Vi, Loup City
was second with 24 and Fuller
ton was third with 15.
O’Neill St. Mary’s earned only
4 3/7 points.
Jack McGinn placed first in the
pole vault with a winning jump
of 10’ 6”.
Havranek, Kilcoin and Dexter
placed first in the sprint medley
with a winning time of 3:56.2
