Amelia News By Mi*** Florence IJmlsey Teacher Breaks Finger While Playing Ball Mrs. Orland Fry rear, teacher in a lower grade room at Amelia, received a broken finger while playing ball at school. Mr. and Mrs. Duane Bly and family were Easter guests at his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Bly. Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Mrs Pierce and Mr. Nis sen went to Atkinson Saturday to visit their brother, Herman Nissen. Joan Fullerton of Lincoln was home with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Fullerton, and sis ter, Beth, for the Easter holiday. Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Waldo and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Wer ner of Chambers and Dennis Wer ner of Omaha were Easter dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Berl Wal do. Asa Watson and daughters, Joyce and Sharon, went to Om aha last weekend to visit at the Bill Cihal home. Mrs. Watson had been at the Cihal home the past weetk to help care for her daugh ter, Mrs. (Beth) Cihal and in fant son, Andrew William. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Skala of FYemont spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Fullerton. On Sunday they went to Atkinson to George’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Fullerton, for Easter dinner. Zane Edwards drove to Omaha March 26 to take his uncle, Bill Edwards, to visit his wife who is a patient in the University hospital there. Arlis Edwards and her pupils of the Swan Lake school gave a program and pie social at their schoolhouse Tlmrsday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Rees visit ed their son, Bob Rees and fam ily at Denver over the Easter weekend. They were accompan ied by Mrs. Will Matthauser of Burwell. Mrs. Matthauser is the mother of Mrs. Bob Rees. Mr. and Mrs. Gale Fix, daugh ter, Sheila and sons, Gaylen, Lar ry, Rodger and Danny of Scotts bluff were here to spend the Eas ter vacation with their respective parents, Mrs. Alice Prewitt and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Fix. Mr. and Mrs. Lew Backbaus attended the funeral of Lew’s brother-in-law at Chambers Thursday afternoon. Many others attended tlie funeral. Among those were Mr. and Mrs. Vem Sageser, Earnie Johnston, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Blackmore, Mr. and Mrs. Berl Waldo, Lloyd Waldo and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pierce. Myra Adamson, K. N., a mis sionary nurse in the Congo was f<JTC«,«l to leave the country and return to the States. She ar rived at McPherson, Kan., last week. She plans to come to the home of her uncle, Glenn White soon. Mr. and Mrs. Tommie Doolittle and family, Mrs. Gertie Adair find Mrs. Stella Sparks were Eas ter dinner guests at the Jim Bil stiens. The Pine Grove Hustlers 4-H club met at the home of Ronnie and Kay Thompson Saturday. The cooking class is studying cooking utensils. The cattle class studied the different parts of a cow. The next meeting will be at the home of Cynthia Deirking April 8. A lunch was served by Mrs. Thompson. Mr. and Mrs. Gale Fix, Sheila, Gaylen, Larry, Rodger and Dan ny of Scottsbluff, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Slaymaker, Donnie and Ricky of Atkinson and Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Fix, Rodney, Scotty and Cathy were Easter dinner guests with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Fix. Dr. and Mrs. Bower Sageser and daughter, Sandra, returned trt their home at Manhattan, Kan. Monday after spending Easter here with relatives. Mrs. Vern Sageser planned to accom pany them to Omaha to visit her father, W. E. Seid, who is in a hospital there. Mrs. Glenn White and Mrs. S.C. Barnett accompanied Bob Bailey to Norfolk Sunday to take Miss Myrtle White there on her re turn trip to Omaha. She spent Easter vacation at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Glenn White. Lana and Janeth Oetter and Debra Waldo were ill last week and missed several days of school. Mrs. Maude Forbes resigned from her work in O’Neill last week. She is visiting her daugh ter, Mrs. Paul Briggs and fam ily at Rose this week and a little later plans to visit rela tives in Washington State and other points along the way. She had been caring for Mrs. Jen nie French, mother of County Superintendent of Schools, Alice French in O’Neill the past two months. Mrs. Gertie Adair is caring for the Ralph Adams children at the Adams home in Chambers while Mrs. Adams works in O’Neill. Mrs. Dwight Kenny is serving the Atkinson-Amelia mail route, beginning the past week, while Dwight is working for Mr. Weller. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Gilman and Harley Lee Everett visited Mr. and Mrs. Joe Stoecker Sunday evening. Brookhouser Injures His Leg Ralph Brookhouser received a painful injury to his right leg when a cable rack he was using pulled against the leg. He was taken to Plainview for medical attention where X-rays were tak en. Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Boelter were March 24 evening visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Miller. F. E. Pierce returned from Lin coln March 28 where he went the previous day on business. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Goiter and family visited with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. Gus Goiter at Osmond March 26.
