Emmet And Community Dolores Tunender Wildlife Assn. Meets Tuesday The members of the Eagle Creeik Wildlife association attend ed a meeting Tuesday night at the <KC hall with John Kitchens, president, conducting the meeting. It was followed by a showing of two wildlife films by Ivan Gilg, chief of the local fire department. The next meeting of the the as sociation will be in April. Mr. and Mrs. George Ramold and family of Inman were Sun day dinner guests of Mrs. Joe Ramold sr., Hubert and John. Mr. and Mrs. George Ramold and family were surprised by a group of friends on their seventh wedding anniversary Sunday eve ning. Present were. Mrs. Joe Ramold sr., Hubert and John were Tuesday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Tun ender and family in honor of Gene’s 15th birthday. The South Side club met at the home of Mis. Kenny Rugg less March 14 for a luncheon. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Steskal, Randy, Cathy and Roddy were Thursday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Tunender. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Havranek jr., Francis and Leonard and Mr. and Mrs. Anton Jirak of O’ Neill were Tuesday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Marcel las and family. The evening cal lers were Mr. and Mrs. Louis Havranek and Larry. Circle 3 is having a card party Sunday at St. Michael hall at Emmet. Pinochle and pitch will be played. Prizes will be given ami lunch will be served. Sherry Naoma and Robert Bour were dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Steskal and family Tuesday night in honor of Serry Steskal’s birthday. Victory Homemakers club met at the l»me of Mrs. Ray Conway March 15 for a noon luncheon. Nine members were present. Mrs. John Babl led the group singing and Mrs. Bob Gallagher gave a reading. Prizes were won by Mrs. Joe Ramold jr. and Mrs. Al Hav ranek. The club will give $5 to the Red Cross. Mrs. Joe Ramold jr. and Mrs. Joe Babl received “mystery” gifts. Next meeting will be April 12 at the home of Mrs. John Babl. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Pon gratz visited Mrs. Arthur Givens Sunday and Tuesday in the At kinson Memorial hospital. Donald Schaaf, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Schaaf, left Friday for Korea where he will be sta tioned. He spent a 30-day leave here with his parents. Helen and Emily Dusatko were Thursday guests of the Richard girls of Emmet. Mr. and Mrs. John Janzing and family of O’Neill called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. George Babl Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Al Havranek and Ellen called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Clifford and family of Atkinson Wednesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Al Havranek and Ellen called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Bob Clifford and family last Sunday. The Young Homemakers club met at the home of Mrs. Albert Henning March 15. Twelve members were present and one guest, Mrs. Asher. The club had a dinner and card party for their husbands Sunday night at Dorotliys cafe. At the next meeting there will be a “Chi nese Auction”. The next meet ing will be at the home of Mrs. I)on Rzeszotarski of Emmet April 12. Mr. and Mrs. J. Pongratz were dinner guests of Mrs. Agnes Heeb Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Pon gratz also visited Mr. and Mrs. George Pongratz and Mr. and Mrs. Duane Pongratz and Dewey. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Pon gratz, Dick, Carlene and Bernel da were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Jim McNulty. Mrs. Ruth Barnes left Califor nia Saturday where she will visit relatives. Mike Schaaf and Mr. and Mrs. Bob Barnes and family of Omaha were Friday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Schaaf and fam ily. They left Friday night to go to Omaha. Frank Weber of Lincoln was a dinner gueests of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Winkler Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Perry and family of O’Neill called at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dean Per ry and family last Sunday. Bernard Pongratz attended the funeral of Mrs. Sophie Hoppe Fri day at Atkinson. Live and Learn Extension club met at the home of Mrs. Paul Roth Thursday. The lesson was giving by Pearl Kaiser and Mrs. Ray. Grof. The St. Patrick games were in charge of Mrs. William Wilkison. Next meeting will be held at the home of Pearl Kaiser April 20. Rosine Ramold of Nebraska City was the weekend guest of Mrs. Joe Ramold sr. Hubert and John. She visited other relatives here and returned home Sunday afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Donald Marcellus and family were Friday night callers at Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Rauterkus and family of O’Neill. Fullerton Will Return To Teach Next Year Mrs. Harold Fullerton will teach in the John Mohr jr. school district next term. We under stand that Jerald McClenahan and Mrs. Orland Fryrear will re turn to the Aemlia school for their term. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Hiatt vis ited at Frank Pierces’ Saturday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Thompson recently purchased 80 acres of land, including the buildings, from Arthur Hiatts. This is the land known as the Will Mulligan place about a mile south of Ame lia. Mrs. nosa Robyler, a former resident of the Amelia Communi ty, died during the week of March 12 at Elgin. She had made her home at the rest home in El gin for the past three years. Her husband, the late Jay Robyler, died several years ago. Mrs. Robyler was 78. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Gilman en tertained several couples at a card party Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Skala of Fremont were here to spend the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Fullerton and the Marvin Doo little family. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Johnston were Sunday evening luncheon guests with Mrs. Edith Andersen. A group of friends and neig bors, gathered at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Milton Clemens Saturday evening to help Don Clemens celebrate his birthday. Florence Lindsey and Mrs. Gertie Adair were O’Neill visitors Monday. Mrs. Adair stopped off in Chambers on the way home to visit her sister, Mrs. Stella Sparks, who was quite “ under the weather” with a bad cold. Mrs. Sparks entered the Atkin son hospital Friday. Mrs. Lloyd Waldo took her mo ther, Mrs. Frank Searles of Den ver, Colo., to Omaha Monday where they visited Mr. and Mrs. Harold Sinclair and family and Mr. and Mrs. Ed Vescio and family. Waldo accompanied her daughter, Mrs. Ken Werner of Chambers, to Grand Island Tuesday. Progressive Club The Amelia Progressive Club met Wednesday at the home of Mrs. Milton Clemens. There were six members and one visitor pre sen. Mrs. Clyde Widman pre sented the lesson on arthritis. The next meeting will be on senior citizenship and will meet with Florence Lindsey. Merry Matrons The Merry Matrons ckib met Thursday with Mrs. Harlan Dierk ing. Mrs. Gertie Adair accompan ied Mrs. Blake Ott to the club as one of the guests. Rev. and Mrs. Ernest Green, David, Rodger and Patty of At kinson were supper guests Thurs day evening with Mr. and Mrs. Glenn White. The Green family, who recently returned home from the Congo, visited with Glenn’s sister and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Adamson just before leaving Africa. They re ported the Adamsons were in safe territory of that time, but had no assurance for how long. A nice crowd was present at the Bethany Free Methodist church Thursday evening to hear Rev. and Mrs. Green and their family in the special service. They also showed slides from the Congo. Rev. Green explained that the pictures shown were reprints he had made since coming home as all of their belongings with the exception of what could be packed in three suit cases had to be left in the Congo. Mr. and Mrs. Link Sageser very quietly observed there 3rd wedding anniversary March 17, at their home in Amelia. Mr. and Mrs. Glenn White were dinner guests Tuesday with Mr. and Mrs. S. C. Barnett. Mr. and Mrs. Asa Watson went to Omaha Wednesday to see their new gradnson. Mrs. Watson stay ed with her daughter, Mrs. Bill (Beth) Cihal to help care for the little one a few days. Mrs. Edith Andersen received a letter from her daughter, Mrs. Bert (Ardene Newkirk, stating they had reached their new home in California and Bert had start ed his work. Ardene was enjoy ing the climate but was ready to return to Nebraska. She thought she' would like it better when they were really settled in their own home. As it was they were waiting for their furniture to ar rive by way of truck and were staying at a motel. Mrs. Delbert Edwards was a patient a few days last week in the Atkinson hospital. She came home Friday and was feeling quite well. She reported that her mother, Mrs. Rosa Snelson of Atkinson, was not so well. Mrs. Vem Sageser and Mrs. Ernest Johnston attended the an nual conference guild of the WSCS of the Methodist church at Grand Island from Wednesday to Friday. Mrs. Bernard Blackmore visit ed Mrs. Link Sageser Friday. Mrs. Ernest Johnston received word Saturday that her mother, Mrs. Tressa Wagner, had broken her leg in a fall. Mrs. Wagner’s home is at Mackey, Ida., but she had been visiting here with the Johnstons and at Holdrege with another daughter this win ter. The daughter at Holdredge had recently undergone surgery and Mrs. Wagner was at her home when she received the bro ken leg. Mr. and Mrs. Blake Ott went to Atkinson Saturday to help their daughter, Mrs. Gloria Landrum, get ready to leave Sunday for St. Louis, Mo., where she will attend a medical school. Sally Landrum started to school in Amelia Monday morning. Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Waldo, and Mr. and Mrs. William Fryrear observed their 47th wedding anni versaries March 18. Robert Embree of O’Neill officiat ing, was held Friday at the home of Mrs. Edith Andersen. Clifford Clemenns has been suf fering with a slipped disk in his back. He was placed in a brace for a time but is better now. Neighbors helped with the farm chores. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Peterson and Mr. and Mrs. Art Doolittle were supper guests Sunday eve ning at the Fred Tesch home near Atkinson. They spent the evening playing cards. Mr. and Mrs. George Fuller ton, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Skala and Mr. and Mrs. Leon Skala were dinner guests Sunday at Marvin Doolittles. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Young, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Young and family of Chambers and Mr. and Mrs. Calvin Coolidge, Steve, Ter ry, Gary and Cynthia were din ner guests Sunday at Elmer Coolidges. Venus News By Mrs. Ralph Brookliouser Annett Uhlir Honored With Birthday Party The senior girls of the Verdigre high school held a surprise birth day party in honor of Annett Uhlir’s birthday Thursday eve ning at the home of Patty Dit trick. Games were played and refreshments served. The host esses were Patty Dittrick and Beverly Cihlar. The group pre sented Annett with a gift. The Help U club members held their St. Patrick’s card party at the Page Improvement Building Friday. Ten point pitch was played at five tables. The awards were recieved by William Bux ton, Mrs. George Jeffrey, Ralph Brookhouser and Mrs. Ora Cas key. The traveling prize was re ceived byWi Uiam Buxton and "special” prize by Ralph Brook houser. Lunch was served at the close of the evening. A March 13 dinner was attend ed by Mr. and Mrs. Max Le Masters and daughters and Wil liam, Frank and Otto Grosse in honor of Cathy Dorr's 11th birth day. Mrs. Vernon Boelter held a party at' her home March 14. Twelve women were present. Several games were played and prize winners were Mrs. Gerald Waring, Mrs. Ora Caskey and Mrs. Ralph Brookhouser. Mrs. Albert Boelter received the door prize. The hostess served lunch at the close of the afternoon. Mrs. Archie Moser went to Creighton March 14 to be with her niece, Jolene Jacot, who underwent a tonsillectomy at the hospital that morning. Mr. and Mrs. Harry casKey accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Joe Jacot and Teddy to Omaha the fore part of the week. The Help U club met with Mrs. Clarence Finch sr. March 15. Mrs. Finch served dinner at noon. Eleven members and one visitor, Mrs. Finch jr., were pres ent. The afternoon was spent in sewing carpet rags for the host ess. Mrs. Ora Caskey received the door prize. Mrs. George Jeff rey will have the next meeting April 5. Elsworth Pedersen was grind ing feed at the Ralph Brookhous er place Thursday. Dennis Von Seggem helped.
