Verdigre News By Vac Randa Frank Kurkas Observe Their 44th Anniversary On March 5 Mr. and Mrs. Frank Kurda, long time settlers in the Verdigre community, quiet ly observed their 44th wedding anniversary at their home in the southwest part of Verdigre. Their guests were Mr. and Mrs. Early Crosley and daughter, Doris, of Niobrara; Mrs. Marie Bauman, Mrs. Frank Roubal, Mrs. Ann Farnhem and Mrs. Roland Peter son, all of North Bend; and Er nest Kurka f Verdigre. Mr. and Mrs. Wenzel Kurka of West Ver digre and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Jones and family of Niobrara were not able to be present due to impassable reads. Mrs. Della Best, science in structor in the Verdigre public school, had charge of a display of science projects in the Verdi gre high school gymn March 15 from 4 to 4:30 p.m. and from 7 to 8:30 pm. The science Fair consisted of 45 projects prepared by the stu dents irom the ninth, tenth and eleventh grades. Local chairman of the March of Dimes, who is Adolph Kotrous, announced that the donations to the 1961 March of Dimes in Ver digre totals $94.90. The different methods that helped in this drive are: local coin continers, $6.96; house to house drive, 67.89 and the business sections, $20.95. Ver digre’s quota was $250. The Verdigre Volunteer Fire Department is having Hs annual benefit dance March 17 in the Verdigre ZCBJ hall where the firemen have been having R on this date for a number of years.
