Tuesday nights second game saw St. Mary’s scoring a fairly easy

The first seeded O’Neill High Eagles picked up a 62-37 win over
the Ewing Tigers Monday evening in a game that saw the entire
O’Neill squad in action during the game. John Kurtz, led the Eagles
with 11 points followed by Rich Hill (52) with 10. Jerry Dexter (34)
and Darold Ermer each had 8 points for the Eagles. Larry Noffke
and Ron Brion shared scoring honors for the losers with 9 points
each. /

The Chambers Coyotes upset the Inman Tigers in the second
game of the evening Monday, 47-46 as they came from behind in the
closing minutes of the game. Dale Adams (24) led the Chambers
scoring with 20 points and Larry Swanson (30) had 13. Bob Pribil
(25) connected on long one-handers and driving lay-ups for a total of
18 points for the losers. Keith Kivett (35) hit for 15 points for the
Tigers.

First round action in the Holt County Basketball Tournament
saw the Atkinson Balers taking a 46 35 win over the Stuart Bronchos
Monday night. Jim Johnson( number 35) led the Balers’ scoring
with 21 points while G. I. Medcal! (number 23) connected for 13.
Tom Brewster had 12 points for the losers, followed by George Bige
low with 10.
The Page Eagles took an easy 65-48 win over St. Josepli of Atkin
son Tuesday night. In a game marred by fouls and technicals. Page
came back after a slow first quarter to win the game going away.
I1 red Gronk (30) led the Eagles with 29 points, high so far in tourna
ment play. Rod Kennedy, Ron Asher and Dennis Ickes scored 10, 8
and 7 points respectively for Page. Mark McKay led St. Joe with
23 and Garry Judge (24) was second high with 12.
Jack McGinn, flashy O’Neill fighter, had little trouble as he won
a unanimous decision over BUI Miller of South Sioux City Wednesday
night in pre-golden gloves action here. McGinn, who weighs in at 118
pounds, will be fighting in the Golden Gloves at Norfolk January S4
and 25.
