Marcella Dendinger
Anthony Kamphaus
Married Saturday
Miss Marcella Dendinger,
daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ray
Dendinger of O'Neill, and Antho
ny Kampha'js, son of Mrs. Helen
Kamphaus of Petersburg, were
married Saturday at 10 a.m. in
a double ring nuptial mass at
St. Patrick’s Catholic church in
O’Neill.
Msgr. T. O’Sullivan performed
the ceremony. Sister Flores pro
vided organ music and solist was
Douglas Spittler.
The bride" wore a floor length
gown of Chantilly lace over taf
feta, designed with scalloped
neckline, long tapered sleeves and
fitted bodice. Her shoulder length
veil fell from a head circlet. She
carried a prayer book centered
with an arrangement of white
roses.
Miss Rosemary Kamphaus of
Omaha, sister of the bridegroom,
was maid of honor. Mrs. Patrick
Jacques, sister of the bride, serv
er! as bridesmaid. They wore
identical street length dresses of
light blue taffeta with royal blue
velvet cummerbunds and match
ing accessories. They carried
colonial bouquets of pink and
white flowers.
Frank Kamphaus of Peters
burg, brother of the bridegroom,
was best man. Ushers were Pat
rick Jacques, Robert Fritton and
Nicholas Kamphaus of Peters
burg, brother of the bridegroom.
Following the ceremony a din
ner and reception were held for
the 95 guests present at the
Knights of Columbus hall. Miss
Margaret Kamphaus was in
charge of the punch bowl and
Mrs. Ray Pribil cut and served
the five-tier wedding cake which
was baked and decorated by a
sister of the bride, Mrs. Patirck
Jacques. Mrs. Frank Kamphaus
and Miss Bertha Kamphaus were
in charge of gifts and the guest
book.
The bride is a graduate of
Minong, Wis. high school. She
has been employed in the Hard
ing creamery office in O’Neill.
Mr. Kamphaus graduated from
Elgin high school and is present
ly engaged in farming near Pet
ersburg where the couple will
make their home following a
wedding trip.

Douglas Auman
Married at Huron
ORCHARD -Word has been re
ceived of the wedding of Miss Wil
la Lu Wells, daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. William H. Wells of Huron,
S. D., and Douglas Auman, son
of Mr. and Mrs. Orval Auman of
Orchard, December 28 at the
Church of Christ in Huron.
The bride was attended by Mrs.
Merle Wiles of Redfield, S. D.,
and Dwayne Auman of Aurora
was best man.
The bride is a graduate of
Huron high school, Norfolk
Junior college and the Nebraska
Christian college. She is the
kindergarten teacher in the Jef
ferson school at Norfolk.
Mr. Auman, an Orchard high
school graduate, is attending Nor
folk Junior college. He is em
ployed at the Montgomery Ward
store in Norfolk, where the
couple is residing following a
wedding trip to Mitchell, S. D.
Beverly Platt Weds
Larry Lieswald at
Chambers Saturday
CHAMBER S— Miss Beverly
Platt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
James Platt, and Larry Lieswald,
son of Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Lies
wald, were married December
31, 1960, in the home of the
bride’s parents.
The Rev. William Roten, pas
tor of the St. Paul Lutheran
church, officiated at the 2 p.m.
double ring ceremony.
A gown of Chantilly lace and
nylon tulle was chosen by the
bride. It was fashioned with a
sculptured lace bodice, long
tapered sleeves and portrait neck
line framed with tulle appliqued
with lace motifs. The bouffant
floor length skirt was tulle, featur
ing a low hipline edged with ap
pliqued lace. Her veil of illusion
was attached to a pearl and
sequin princess crown. She car
ried a cascade bouquet of pink
roses with a removable center
corsage.
Miss Katheryn Rubeck was
bridesmaid and she wore a pink
waltz length dress with a head
dress in matching color. Her
flowers were white mums and
pink carnations formed in a cas
cade arrangement.
Dale Woods of Ewing served as
best man. , , „
A reception was held following
the ceremony in St. Paul’s
Lutheran church. Miss Peggy
Smith cut and served the wedding
cake, baked and decorated by
Mrs. Leonard Peterson. Miss
Smith also took charge of the
guest book. Miss La Rue Weller
and Miss Arliss Edwards as
sisted with the serving.
The bride is employed as a
teacher, while Mr. Lieswald is
serving in the army.
Club Notes
VFW Auxiliary
Receives Award
The VFW auxiliary 926 met Jan
uary 10 at 8 p.m. at the court
house assembly room. Chris Mc
Ginn presented the Carol Lane
award which the group received
for the bicycle safety program.
It was presented in behalf of the
Shell Oil Co.
Initiated were two new mem
bers, Mrs. Norma Steel and Mrs.
A1 Stoffer. Several community
service projects were discussed.
Mrs. Verlin Peterson reported on
the Christmas baskets that were
given. A white elephant auction
was held, proceeds going to the
cancer fund.
Lunch was served by Mrs. Don
Richardson and Mrs. Louis Wray.
Next meeting to be held the sec
ond Tuesday in February.
Auxiliary Plans
Conference at
North Platte
Material has been ordered to
make three hospital screen covers
for an assignment by members of
the American Legion auxiliary,
Simonson Unit No. 93 which met
January 4 at the Legion hall with
20 members present.
Mrs. Dean Streeter, Junior aux
iliary activities chairman, report
ed that the O’Neill unit has four
sets of twins enrolled which is a
state record.
The mid-winter conference will
be held at North Platte Feb
ruary 18 and 19. Anyone wishing
to attend should contact Mrs.
Archie Bright. A check was
received from H. B. Burch in
appreciation of the Use of a walk
er and wheel chair.
The January Holt county meet
ing will be held at Stuart. Hos
tesses were Mrs. Lawrence
Haynes, Mrs. Marvin Johnson and
Mrs. Deraid Graham.
MRS WALKER HONORED
Mrs. Laura E. Walker celebrat
ed her 86th birthday Tuesday and
was guest of honor at “coffees”
this week, given by her daugh
ters, Mrs. L. A. Burgess and Mrs.
E. E. Bright of Orchard.
Many cards and remembrances
were received by the honoree.
Among those honoring Mrs. Walk
er with gifts were four other
daughters, Mrs. W. H. Fowler of
Epid, Okla., Mrs. Howard Miller
oi North Platte, Mrs. M. L. Cran
dall of Lincoln and Mrs. R. W.
Johnson of Hyannis.

Year’s Eve in the ballroom at
the Golden hotel.
CLAUSONS ENTERTAIN
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Clauson
entertained friends at a dinner at
the Town House Saturday eve
ning. Following dinner the group
adjourned to the Clauson home
for an evening of cards.

Presbyterian Women
Install Officers Thursday
Thirty members of the First
Presbyterian Woman’s associa
tion met in the fellowship hall
Thursday afternoon for installa
tion of officers, lesson and pro
gram presentation.
Mrs. Roy Humrich was in
charge of the program, assisted
by Mrs. Roy Shelhamer and
Mrs. William MacKinley. New of
ficers are Mmes. Roy Humrich,
M. G. Trupp, Dtoight Harder,
Robert Forwocd, Christine Will
iams and William Gatz.

O’Neill Cycle cluib January 4,

dinner Thursday evening given
at the home of Mrs. William
Koch in Norfolk for members of
Madison County Salon 410, Eight
and Forty, American Legion.
Reports were made concerning
Christmas gifts sent to children
in the Nebraska State Tubercu
losis hospital at Kearney and
birthday gifts to three girls in the
National Jewish hospital in Den
ver.
School of Missions
Planned Sunday
A school of missions will begin
at the O’Neill Methodist church
Sunday evening with a fellowship
dinner at 6 p.m. followed by mis
sion study classes for all ages
at 7:15 p.m.
Everyone is welcome to attend
the school. Those planning to at
tend are requested to bring a
covered dish and table service for
the family.
Theme for the mission is “Into
All the World”. A special feature
will be technicolor pictures show
ing the panorama of the Bible
as distributed and used in today’s
world. The school will continue
for six Sunday sessions.
Mrs. Herley Entertains
Members of the What Not ex
tension club met Thursday eve
ning at the home of Mrs. Reed
Herley. Year books were filled
out and each member was given
the name of a new “secret
pal”. Mrs. James Sanford be
came a member of the club. The
next meeting will be February
2 at the home of Mrs. Glenn
Kennicott.
Phoenix 4-H Club Meets
All members of the Phoenix
Livestock 4-H club met at the
Lyle Damero home December
2& for a regular meeting. Roll
call was answered by the tailing
of a joke. A Christmas gift ex
change was held and following
this a skating party enjoyed. The
next meeting will be at the
George Syfie home January 27.

Mr. and Mrs. Dean Streeter
were hosts at a card party at
their home Monday evening. The
occasion was in celebration of
their wedding anniversary.
Miss McKenzie Wins
Jean McKenzie was awarded
the attendance prize at the re
gular meeting of the Junior Aux
iliary Simonson Unit 93 Saturday
in the Legion hall. Eighteen mem
bers were present. Tray favors
for the hospital were completed
and following this a bingo party
was held. Pat McKenzie, scribe.
Barbara Miller of ^O'Neill ha*,
completed a specialized*course of
training at Personnel Training
Institute in Omaha and is now
employed as a steno-typist at
Travelers Insurance company in
Omaha. She started her employ
ment December 5.
Joan Wilson, daughter of Dr.
and Mrs. Rex W. Wilson, has
been elected secretary of the
Drama Guild at Christian college
in Columbia, Mo. She is assist
ing with preparations for the
Guild’s forthcoming Production,
“Blithe Spirit,” to be staged
January 19-21 at Christian.

Repeat Marriage Vows
A wedding ceremony was per
formed at 10:30 a.m. Saturday
at the Church of the Magdalen in
Wichita, Kan., uniting Miss Ger
aldine Sullivan, daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. James M. Sullivan of
Wichita, and Dr. Robert William
Wallace, son of Mrs. M. J. Wal
lace and the late Dr. Wallace of
O'Neill in marriage.
Msgr. George N. Schmidt of
I ficiated at the nuptial mass. Mus
ic was provided by Miss Jeane
Park Gans, vocalist, accompan
ied by Miss Myrth Culp.
A princess styled gown of petal
white duchesse satin brocade was
worn by the bride. It was fashion
ed with a portrait neckline, brace
let length sleeves, fitted bodice
and a voluminous hoop skirt
lengthened to an aisle-wide train.
Her headpiece was a Chantilly
lace mantilla. The bride carried a
French cascade bouquet of white
rosebuds and stephanotis center
ed with a lavender orchid.
Matron of honor, Mrs. David
D. Leahy, and bridesmaid, Mrs.
Eldon F. Johnson, sisters of the
bride, were attired in identical
ballerina gowns styled with scoop
necklines, basque bodices, short
cap sleeves and slim skirts trim
med with tulip-shaped over skirts.
Mrs. Leahy’s gown was in a ro
mantique purple shade and Mrs.
Johnson’s was lilac haze. They
carried crescent bouquets of pur
ple and lilac flowers and their
accessories were in similar
shades.
Dr. Stephen Wallace of Wahoo,
brother of the bridegroom, served
as best man. Ushers were El
don F. Johnson, Dr. David D.
Leahy, Dr. Courtney Clark, all of
Wichita, and Dr. James Ryan of
Des Moines.
A reception was held in the Co
lonial room at the Lassen Hotel.
Mrs. Melvin H. Snyder jr. pre
