Center dropped the Page Eagles
from the ranks of the undefeated
68-61 in a game played Tuesday
night at Page. The game was
marred by 45 fouls. Both Cronk
and Ickes were ousted from the
Page lineup via the foul route.
Cronk was high point man for
Page with 23 while Sealer led
Center with 32.
The Page reserves won their
eighth straight tilt 35-23.
In games played last week Page
downed Clearwater 43-30 and Oak-J
dale, 66-31.

desired the honor of taking them]

Cleve Walstrom of Verdigre, son of I)r. and Mrs. V. A. Walstrom,
is shown here with a six legged calf which was recently purchased
by Dr. Walstrom from a rancher In Oklahoma. The Angus Hereford
cross steer has two extra legs which are attached by cartilage from
the steer’s left shoulder. The legs are 24 inches long and each have
hooves. The steer, however, can make no use of these logs.

St. Mary's Squeaks by St. Joe
53-49 with Final Quarter Drive

St. Joseph’s of Atkinson travel
ed to O’Neill last Friday night
to receive a 53-49 loss in a close
game with St. Mary's. The
Card’s gathered steam with the
much improved shooting and re
bounding of Jerry Gokie and Cal
Peter’s and took a 14 to 8 lead
in the first quarter. Mudloff loft
ed a long shot from the middle of
the floor as the buzzer .sounded
for the end of the first quarter.
The second quarter found the
Bluejays pulling up to within 2
points, behind the shooting of
Mark McKay wno scored 9 of
his 17 points in the second stan
za. Half time score was 25-23 with
St. Mary’s in the lead.
The third quarter opened at a
hot pace. Mike McKay and Larry
J.idge combined for 14 points in
a 20 point third quarter to shove
Atkinson ahead at the end of the
third quarter 43-38. In the final
period St. Mary’s, paced by N r
man Mudloff, came from behind
and held the load for their third
victory.
G >kie led both departments with
16 points and 20 rebounds. He
was followed by Mudloff with 14,
Peter, 13; Donohoe, 6 and Spitzen
berger, 4 points.
Most of Atkinson’s scoring was
based around three men. Mark
McKay had 17 p lints, Mike Me

Kay was next with 16 followed
by Judge with 12
RESERVES
The St. Mary's reserve team
upped their record to 3-1 with a
44-35 win over the St. Joe re
serve’s. The game was a close
one most of the way but the young
Cardinals pulled it out in the
fourth quarter behind the shoot
ing of Pr.iss, Oetter and Tomjack,
who had 14. !) and 8 points respec
tively. St. Joe’s reserves wore
paced by Valley with 7, Keating,
6, and Krysl, 6.
Chambers Suffers
52-54 Defeat by
Bartlett Friday
Chambers suffered a 52-54 de
feat Friday night at the hands of
Bartlett. Bob Crosby and Bill Day
each contributed 17 points for
Bartlett while Larry Swanson was
high point man for Chamber* with
24.
This was the second loss of the
week for the Chambers crew.
Tuesday night they were handed
a 59-56 defeat by Elgin. Rick
Johnson led the E'gin scoring
with 13 points while Swanson was
high for Chambers with 19. Dale
Adams was second high with 14.
