WHCS Meet*
Twenty-three members were
present at the regular meeting
of the WSCS which met Thursday
at the Methodist church. Mrs.
G. H. Grimes led the worship
service and Mrs Glen Grimes
the lesson on "This is His Birtli
day." A dramatic dialogue en
titled "The family Celebrates
Christmas," was used to develop
the theme of Christs' birthday
Participating were, Mrs. Lloyd
Gleed. Mrs. E. H. Medcalf, Mrs
Steve Shavlik, Mrs. Raymond
Shoemaker, Mrs. Louis Neilson
and Mrs. LaVem Hoerle.
Mrs Steve Shavlik presided at
the business session. A letter
from Mrs. Esther Harris was
read urging all church women to
join either the Woman's Society
or the Wesleyan Service Guild
which is for business women.
All members whose birthdays
were in October, November and
December were given special
recognition Mrs. Fred Catron
read a piece or Columbus Day
which was followed by
"America.'’ sung by all. Mrs.
Sarah Adams read the first
Thanksgiving A panel on "Early
Thanksgiving" Included Mrs La
Vem Hoerle, Mrs Louis Neilson,
Mrs A B. Hubbard and Mrs.
E R. Carpenter. A quiz contest
followed by a quartette singing
"Silent Night" closed the pro
gram.
Mr and Mrs G. H. Grimes,
Mr. and Mrs. Glen Grimes and
Mrs. Eugene Halsey drove to
Milford Saturday. The latter vi
sited her son-in-law and daugh
ter, Mr. and Mrs Dick Read and
daughters, the others were guests
of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Grimes
and family. While at the Grimes
home in Milford the group were
pleased with a visit from Tommy
Ressell who edits the Milford
paper and who was formerly from
the Chambers and O'Neill com
munities.
Mr. and Mrs. James Grimes re
turned home Sunday from Attum
wa, la., where they had been
visiting her son-in-law and daugh
ter, Dr and Mrs Loran Coppac
and family.
Mrs Joe Koci is caring for her
grandchildren at their home at
Wisner while their mother is in
the hospital in Omaha.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Blair of
Omaha spent the weekend with
his mother, Mrs. Ralph Blair, and
grandmother, Mrs. Whidden.

turned Tuesday from Nakomis,
111., where they had been visiting
their son-in-law and daughter,
