The group was invited to return next Thurs day evening for an ice cream feed. Mrs. Howard Rouse and Lloyd called on Mrs. Carrie Borg Thurs day afternoon. Carpenter The Chambers Garden Club was hostess to the District num ber 6 Federated Garden Clubs Friday. The meeting was held in the Methodist church basement with 27 attending. Represented was the Bartlett Garden club, the Stuart Garden club, the Goi denrod club of Atkinson, the beau tiful Valley cluib and the Cham bers Garden club, both of Cham bers. Mrs. Stanley Lambert and three of her home economics class, Judy Smith, Kathy Rubeck and Danlo Waldo also attended. The fifteenth annual Flower show will be held in Norfolk September 16 from 2 to 9 p.m. Darrell Thorin of Imperial Beach, Calif., who has spent much of the summer with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Tlujr.in at Bartlett and has vis ited at the Lloyd Wintermotos in Chambers, left Sunday for home. Darfell is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Thorin formerly of Chambers. Mrs. Donald Grubb and Judy left Thursday, Sept. 1 for their home at Bremerton, Wash., after visiting her mother, Mrs. Mae Hubbard and other relatives for the past two weeks. Mr. and Mrs. Don Huston of Sedro Wooley, Wash., were re cent guests of his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Adams. Mr. and Mrs. James Platt en tertained the following members of his high school graduating class at a party at their home Tues day evening, Aug 30. Montgomery Funeral Held At Orchard Funeral services for George Walter Montgomery of near Royal were held last week in the Orch ard Lutheran church. Mr. Mont gomery had been in failing health for the past 10 years but suffered a stroke recently and died in the Tilden Community hospital on August 27. Honorary pallbearers were T. R. Dodds, C. E. Rundquist, Tru man Kirby, Fred Kuhne, Waldo Rodgers and Clyde Van Ostrand. Active pallbearers at the funer al were Wayne Montgomery, Her mit Montgomery, Don Montgom ery, Stanley Montgomery, Gaylen Montgomery and Alfred Suhr. Mr. Montgomery was born on May 8, 1897 at Newman Grove, the son of Henry and Susan Mont gomery. He spent the first 32 years of his life in PaiK Center community near Elgin. He and his family moved to a farm west of Royal in 1929 and there he re sided until his death. He was united in marriage to Mary Suhr on June 26, 1917, and to this union five sons were born. Survivors include: His wife; five sons, Wayne of Seattle, Ker mit of Orchard, Donald of Madi son, Stanley of Royal and Gaylen who is at home. Nine grandchild ren also survive as does his sister, Mrs. A. Fern Ellison of Ne ligh One brother, Albert of Jeri cho Springs. Mo., preceded him in death. Flower girls at the funeral were Mrs. Herman Ennen, Mrs. Clay ton Meisner and Mrs. C. E. Rund quist. Miss Donlin is a graduate of St. Mary’s Academy, class of ’56, and from St. Elizabeth’s School of Nursing at Lincoln. She is presently a member of the nursing staff at St. Elizabeth's Hospital. Mr. Linebaugh graduated from Lincoln high school, class of ’54, attended the University of Ne braska and is now employed by Pegler and Co. in Lincoln. The couple plan an October 29th wedding.
