Glenn Rundquist and Nolan left 9unday morning on a fishing trip into Minnesota at West Lake, northwest of Min neapolis. Mr. and M-s. R H Nelson and three children of Bennington were Tuesday guests of Mr. and Mrs E. A R/indquist. Mr Nelson, a former superintendent here. Dodd’s Oil Company held their grand opening Saturday. The station, located on Highway 20, has been completely remod eled. Approximately 2,500 gal lon* of gas were sold during the day. Mr and Mrs. Russell Burch and has sisters, Mrs Roy Frahm, Mrs Darrell Anson of Royal and Mrs Lau rence Fryer of Norfolk Mr Burch, a captain in the Palo Al ta Fire Department, has a va cation of three weeks William Relieke of Snider, a former resident here, sold his house located across the street from the pump house, to Mr LfUis Waterman who has been living in Rundquist's Apartments. Mr Waterman expects to make improvements by enclosing the front porch and adding a bath room. Mr Relieke bought a home in Snider. Guests at the home of Mr and Mrs Harry Hagedorn Sunday in cluded Mr. and Mrs. Leon Jack son, Marcia and Jim of Memphis; Mr and Mrs. Bruce Rebberg and children of O’Neill, Mr. and Mrs. Leo Miller and Mrs. Hazel Reh berg. Mrs. Rehberg, who had been in Royal and vicinity the past four months left Monday for Lin coln. Mrs Mabel Meyer, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Bartsch, Mrs. Fre mont Curtis and Mrs. Jan Cur tis attended the funeral of Bert Moser at Creighton Wednesday. Lenard was seriously injured a number of weeks ago and is still unable to work. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Tomjack and Florence Butler of Ewing had supper in Clearwater Satur day. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Tomjack returned Wecinesday evening from their trip to Salt Lake City and Dead Wood, S. D. Mrs. Tomjack has sisters in both cities. Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Hupp, Mrs Joe Hupp and Rose Hupp of Norfolk attended the funeral for Stanley Bartak Tuesday. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Schindler of Omaha were there also. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Reimer were Sioux City visitors Wednes day. Several families attended the Wheeler Co. fair at Bartlett last weekend. We received half an inch of very welcome rain Wednesday morning. Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Larson returned Wednesday evening from a trip through the Black Hills. They attended the “Passion Play” at Spearfish, S. D. Sunday eve ning. Don Larson and two friends from O’Neill called at the Leonard Larson home Friday evening. A number from here enjoyed Clearwater’s jubilee on Sunday and Monday. Mrs. Mary Marish of Spalding is spending a few days at the home of her sister, Mrs. Minnie Miller. Mrs. Watson McDonald made a trip to the doctor at Tilden last week. Mrs. Mary Marish and Mrs. Minnie Miller spent Sunday eve ning at the Watson McDonald home. James and Robert Miller spent a few days last week in th Ozarks. The Howard Temples atended a family picnic in Kansas Sun day. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Harpster visited Anita Lee and family in Ewing Sunday. Amelia News By Miss Florence Lindsey Mr. and Mrs. Frank Pierce were visiting at Tom Doolittles Monday evening. Don Adams returned Thursday from the tour of the southern states. He accompanied a group of teachers. Mrs. Floyd Adams and Mrs. Blake Ott met him in Nor folk Thursday. While he was in Flordia he sent a Mango fruit to his parents. Mrs. Adams shared it with several of us Ame lia folks. We thought it very de licious. Mr. and Mrs. Orland Fryrear were Spencer callers Thursday. Almost everyone in the commun ity attended the Chambers fair last week. The evenings were very cold, and some folks froze cut and came home early. Mrs. Delia Ernst visited at Mrs. Maude Forbes Wednesday after noon. Farewell Party Rev. and Mrs. Ivan Turner were honored with a farewell party Wednesday by the members and friends of the Free Methodist church. Rev. Turner has been resident pastor of the Ewing Free Methodist church and also served the Bethany church near Amelia. He will move to the Ringold, parish soon. Robert Burge, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Burge has been hav ing a seige of blood poison in his hand. He stayed with his aunt Mrs. Hugh Carr in O’Neill sev eral days to receive medical at tention everyday. Mr. and Mrs. Chester Kaiser, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Kaiser, and Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kaiser, Tommie and Jerry, all of Hardin, Mont., returned to their home Saturday after being here to at tend funeral services for their father, Richard Kaiser who died Tuesday, Aug 16. Mr. and Mrs. George Fullerton observed their twenty-fifth wed ding anniversary recently. A num ber of friends and relatives ga thered Sunday at their home for a dinner. Those present were their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Skala and Mr. and Mrs. L. Mrs. Marvin Doolittle baked and decor ated a lovely three tier cake. Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Smith of North Platte have been visiting at the home of his brother, Hamp Smith. Mrs. Leslie Smith and Mrs. Hamp Smith drove to North Platte Friday and on their return their nephew, Billie Smith re turned with them. Timmy Jean Doolittle, son of [ Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Dolittle, was baptized Sunday morning by Rev. ! Charles Cox, Methodist pastor at Amelia. Duane Sammons left Monday for his home at Kimberly, Ida., after spending the summer here with his grandmother, Mrs. Ber tha Sammons. He helped in the hayfield at Ed Jungmans. Mr. and Mrs. Orland Fryrear spent Sunday evening at Vernon Berrys. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Widman and Marcia and Bower Sageser and Sandra visited at Mrs. Fancher’s at Ainsworth Sunday. Mrs. Bow er Sageser returned to Amelia with them and they exipect to leave for their home at Manhat tan, Kan. Tuesday. Mrs. E. Andersen went to Lin coln Sunday to attend a meeting of the Women’s Society of Christian Service as a delegate from Ame lia. She accompanied Rev. and Mrs. Charles Gates of Atkinson. Mrs. Ernest Johnston is in charge of the switchboard during her absense. Mr. and Mrs. Frank Jungman, parents of Mrs Milton Clemens of Amelia, will observe their fif tieth wedding anniversary with open house from 2 to 5 Sunday. Aug 28 at the home of their son Leeward Jungman in Atkinson Mr and Mrs Roy Wehland and family of Holdrege visited from Thursday to Sunday at the Ernest Johnston home. Chi Sunday the two families were sight-seeing at Fort Randall. The Wehland's son Richard, who had spent the sum mer here with the Johnston’s re turned with them Sunday evening. Rev Ernest Chambers and fam ily are now located in the Free Methodist parsonage south of Amelia. Mrs. Harold Claussen, Debra, Linda and Harold Lynn left Tues day' for their new' home in Den ver, Colo. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Gilman, took them to Grand Island.
