Verdigre News By V no Kanda Mlady Reunion Held Sunday At Verdigre The decendants of the late John and Agnes Mlady of the Pischel ville community held their third family reunion Sunday, July, 17, at the Verdigre City Park with seventy nine persons present. At noon a picnic dinner was serv ed . The highlight of the day was a concert by the Verdigre Bohemian Band. The oldest person present was Frank Cernousek, sr., ik>. The grandmother with the most grand children was Mrs. Frank Mady of Creighton, and the oldest grand father with the most grandchild ren was John Mlady of Verdel. The youngest grand parents were Mr, and Mrs. Ben Mlady and the parents with the most children were Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Stockholm of Norfolk. The group decided to meet again the third Sunday of July in Verdigre. The Committee in charge for this year were Mr. and Mrs. Art Hrbek, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Mlady, Mr. and Mrs. Or vie Hansen, and Mrs. Lawrence Stockman and Mr. and Mrs. Har ry Noyer. The day was spent pic nicking and visiting. Mrs. Stella Cunningham was the oldest and Robert Hurtig was the youngest present. BIRTHDAY PARTY Eight members of the neigh borhood Birthday club met wiJi Mrs. Blanche Fletcher to help her celebrate her birthday Sat urday. Hie afternoon was spent playing bridge. Mrs. Gordon Drayton, Mrs. Henry Drayton and Mrs. J. W. Mahood won prizes. Mrs. Allen Hill furnished the prizes. Mrs. C. E. Everhart fur nished the birthday cake and ice cream. Henry Meuret jr., a former res ident of Orchard, was killed in a plane crash He operated a crop duster. He moved with his par ents to Oregon in 1933. LEGION AUXILIARY The American Legion Auxiliary met Monday night at the Legion Hail. Nine members were pre sent. Mrs. Gerald Maple was in stalled as president; Mrs. Lester Raff, vice president; Mrs. Lyle Schleusener, treasurer; Mrs. Ed na Liebsack. secretary and Mrs. Bernard Kellog, sergeant-at-arms. It was voted to have a float and sponsor a food stand at Free Day. Mrs. Leonard was installing of ficer and Mrs. Bernard Kellog was sargeant at arms. Lunch was served by Mrs. Ber nard Kellog, Mrs. Lee Bjornsen and Mrs. Dick Knapp. BRIDGETTES CLUB The Bridgettes club met with Mrs. Duard Dempster. Mrs Steve Shavhk presided at the business session. Mrs. H W. Hubbard presented the society with a Memorial gift in remean rance of her father, Ed Porter. A short program in honor of Mrs. Genevieve Bell, a member of long standing who is leaving soon to make her home in Colo rado, was given with Mrs. Ber nard Hoffman. It consisted of a reading by Mrs T. E Alderson a piano solo by Donis Hoffman and a solo "May the good Lord bless and Keep You", by Mrs. Hoffman. Mrs. Lloyd Gleed pre sented a gift from the society to Mrs Bell. Lunch was served by the hos tesses. Mrs H. W. Hubbard. Mrs Bernard Hoffman and Mrs. Lloyd Gleed. FAREWELL PARTY A group of friends and mem bers of the Kellar club and the Valley Center Extension club met at the home of Mrs. Glen Grimes for a farewell party for one of their members, Mrs. Genevieve Bell, who is leaving soon to make her home near her son and daugh ter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs Donald Grimes at Ft. Collins. Colo. The program, in charge of Mrs. Lloyd Gleed, consisted of songs beginning with each letter of the guests first name (Genevieve). There was a reading by Mrs. L. Harley and a closing prayer by Mrs. Clyde Kiltz. Gifts were presented to the guest of honor by Mrs. T S. Al derson from each of the clubs. Dennis Werner returned to his work in Omaha Sunday following a two week vacation with his parents, Mr and Mrs Kenneth Werner. Sunday dinner guests of Mr and Mrs William Hubei and fam ily were her mother, Mrs Celia Christiansen and brother and sis ter-in-law, Mr and Mrs. Jack Christiansen and family. After noon callers were Mr and Mrs Melvin Mortenson and Merlin cf Ptainview and Maurice, Darlene and Jake Shindler of Omaha. Mr and Mrs Clyde Ki'ts ami Phyllis returned recently from a trip to Everett. Wash , where they visited Dr. and' Mrs. Richard Kiltz and family. Th y also drove to Van Couver. Friends at Chambers have just learned of the recent death of a former Chambers business man, Walt Einkoph, at his home in Gibbon, Mr. Einkopf operated the drug store here for a number of years. He is survived by Ins wife and one son. Mr and Mrs. Lee Howler of Vivian. S D . came Saturday and visited until Sunday afternoon with her brother-in-law and sis ter.
