    Breads, Pancakes and Waffles
These breads are most satisfactory for freezing — yeast
white and whole wheat, yeast rolls, baking powder nut
bread and steamed brown bread. All but the brown
bread are baked before freezing. Steam that. All should
be cooled to room temperatures before freezing.
Pancakes and waffles re-heat easily for a quick breakfast.
Small families that like home-made bread will find it han
dy to bake several, and freeze all but one for use.
Ready-cooked Soups
and Vegetables
Vegetable, chicken, lentil
and other dried legume
soups are excellent when
frozen. When making
any of these which re
quire long, slow cooking,
make an extra amount
and freeze the extra por
tion. Cool before freez
ing; Clear broths freeze
satisfactorily but do not
add noodles or rice. Add
these when reheating.
You can pour them when
cold into ice cube trays,
freeze and then package
in polyethylene bags.
Store up to four months.

Use your favorite recipe. Place mixture into'casserole or
oblong dish. Cover dish with rich pastry, pressing it firmly
to edges—or use rich biscuit dough, cut in rounds.
Chicken or turkey pie may be baked before freezing, or
frozen with unbaked topping. If baked first, cool before
wrapping.
Store no longer than four months. Do not thaw before re
heating. Remove aluminum foil or polyethylene wrapping
and heat in 350 degree oven for about an hour,- 400 de
grees if pastry has unbaked topping.
