returned Friday from Ottumwa,
la., where they had been visiting
with Dr and Mrs Loran Coppoc
and family since June 15. While
there Mr. Coolidge underwent
major surgery.
The Coppoc's and the Coolidge's
spent Sunday, June 19 with Mr.
and Mrs Joe Hamilton, (cousins
of the two families» at Monmouth,
III.
Rev. and Mrs. Charles F. Cox
called at the Howard Pitzer home
north of Ericson Saturday after
noon of last week.
Fifty friends and relatives of
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Grimes
surprised them at their home
Sunday night, July 3 with a
charivari. The crowd went to the
John Lee Farrier home after vi
siting the Grime's and insisted on
"treats'' there too. The following
Wednesday night another group
from Page charivaried the
Grimes a second time.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben W. Medcalf
and family of Minneapolis, Minn ,
arrived in Chambers Sunday for a
few days visit in the E. H Med
calf and E. R. Carpenter homes.
Bob and Kathy Medcalf will re
main here for a months visit.
Rev. and Mrs. Cox called at the
Bumgardner ranch north of
Encson after the wedding in
Ericson on lust Sunday afternoon.
Harry Bergman of Omaha was
a guest in the Louis Neilson home
from Wednesday, July 6 to Fri
day.
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Howe and
family of Fremont were guests
over the holiday weekend of her
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Wood and Dale.

from Lincoln Saturday, July 2 to
get their daughter, Patty, who had
spent the past two weeks with
her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs.
K H. Medcalf.
Rev. and Mrs. Cox were supper
guests at the home of their son
and daughter-in-law, Mr and
Mrs. Billy Cox of O'Neill Saturday
evening.
Mrs. Rena Derking came home
Friday, July 8 from Ontario,
Calif., where she had spent a
month with her son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Osro Dean
and family. Her daughter, Mrs.
William Pfiel of Wayne accom
panied her to California and back
and brought her to Chambers af
ter two day* at their home to
Wayne.
Rev and Mrs. Cox were dinner
guests at the home of Mr and
Mrs. James Grimes Friday of last
week.
The Martha community south
east of Chambers held their an
nual Fourth of July celebration
with a good attendance and a well
planned program. A childrens
parade, races and contests oc
cupied the forenoon. A picm ■ din
ner at noon was followed by a
very interesting and informative
talk by the guest speaker, Rev.
Charles Tyler.

Brotherton and Mrs. Lawrence
Barnett md their husband and
families, before going on to Mont
erey, Calif., where he will enroll
for a two year post graduate
course at the Naval College. Lt.
Alderson is a son of Col. Donald
Alderson. presently stationed in
Spain.
Mrs. Emerson Smock and three
daughters of I«a Grande, Ore.,
left Thursday after a two weeks
visit with her parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Henry Wood and Dale. They
also visited her brother-in-law
and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Harlan
Larson and children of Chambers
and her brother-in-law and sister,
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Howe and
family of Fremont.

Hastings visiting Mrs. Ramsey's
