George Jefferies Thursday af ernoon. “The Church” was the theme of he Daily Vacation Bible school of he Ewing Methodist and the Unit ed Presbyterian churches in Ew ng which closed with a program Sunday evening at the Methodist .■hurch and an exhibition of handi craft in the basement. The church was filled to capac ity. The evening’s entertainment op ?ned with a worship service planned and prepared by the Junior high class. Miss Sandra Shrader and Mrs. Robert Hobbs were in charge of this class. The pre-kindergarten was in charge of Mrs. Wayne Shrader as sisted by Bonnie Welke and the nursery class was in charge of Sharon Johnston. The kindergar U>n group was led by Mrs. Ray Sedivy assisted by Marie Davis and the primary teachers were Mrs. Dale Napier and Key Berg strom. The ten third graders were led by Mrs. William H. Ross and Bet ty Wright. The junior class of 24 fourth, fifth and sixth graders were in charge of Mrs. W. W. Elliott as sisted by Judy Tinsley, Myra Pru den and Sandra Elliott. The first and second graders gave a dram atization with Mrs. Dale Napier, narrator. Dr. William H. Ross pastor of the United Presbyterian church gave a report on the work of the Vacation Bible school and its ac complishments. Miss Bertha. Harris, secretary gave a report on enrollment which totaled 93 boys and girls an aver age attendance of 88. Collections amounted to $32.32 to be equally divided between the two churches, the Methodist sending theirs to the Gerald Summers Memorial at Bor neo and the United Presbyterians to the Navajo Missions at Oljato, Utah. The Sunday evening offerings goes to pay expenses of the Bible School. Rev. W. W. Elliot of the Methodist church gave the bene diction. Mrs. Willie Shrader and Mrs. Willis Rockey were superinten dents during the week. Miss Diana Shrader assisted as secretary and treasurer. Pianists for different groups were Sandra Elliott, Joan Spangler, Marie Davis and Shar on Johnston. * The group enjoyed a picnic din ner on Friday at noon. Hie real hero for Ewing was Dennis lekes who got on with an error in the eighth toning, stole two bases ami scored the winning on an overthrow. The last half of the 8th, lekes also started the double play to end the ball game. Bruce hail a single and a dou ble for Orchard. On Sunday afternoon, Ewing played h st to Buttle Creek and once again was the victor by a 5-1 score. Belina pitched for Ewing and gave up only three hits. Means led the Battle Creek team with a double Patras led tile Ewing batters with three singles. Ewing’s next home game will be against Valentine, July 3rd. Ewing previously boat Valentine in an 8-6 thriller. Mr. and Mrs. A.
