Letters
to the
Editor
Dear Sir:
In March three boys were ar
rested and fined for having two
bottles of beer. Their names ap
peared in both papers and were
put on the air for two days as pos
sessing alcoholic beverages. Their
parents hated the unfavorable
publicity but felt, at the time, that
ii it taught the boys respect fur
the law and stopped minors from
drinking it was worth it.
However, since then officers in
a St. Patrick’s night raid, found
almost a dozen minors’ cars to
contain beer, they have had their
“keg party” where participants
were both trespassing and disturb
ing the peace, several boys were
caught destroying school property
and private farm property and last
week two adults and a minor were
arrested by a local officer for
procuring and possessing beer, yet
not one of these names were ever
publicized.
Perhaps some fine point of the
law makes it necessary to arrest
some and not others, but I think
if these otherwise law-abiding
boys are to be taught respect and
not resentment for the law, all
should be treated the same.
Sincerely,
A Reader
