Chambers News By Mm. E. R. CWpenter Charles Cox jr of Ord spent the week-end in Chambers Mr and Mrs Billy M. Co* of O'Neill attended church at the Methodist church in Chambers Sun day. They were dinner guests of his parents Ln the afternoon they ■were supper guests oi her parents. Mr and Mrs Alvin Tangeman. Mr. Owen Long of Bartlett and Marraine Kaiser of Kricson were Sunday callers at the home of Rev and Mrs. Cox in Chambers Gale Holcomb is spending his scanmer vacation with his parents, Mr and Mrs. LeRoy Holcomb, at Chambers He has completed his second year at the University of Nebraska Mr. and Mrs. T. E. Newhouse i drove to Juanita Sunday. Their j son ami daughter-in-law, Mr ; and Mrs Jim Newhouse and fatn ; ily of Wichita, Kan , met them there for a visit. Mr. and Mrs Everette Jarman returned last Wednesday from a weeks vacation which took them to St. Louis and Kansas City. They went by train from Omaha While there they took a 10 hour ride on the S S. Admiral on the Mississip pi and watched the baseball game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the 9t. Louis Cardinals. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Fluckey and boys of Hastings, Mrs Arthur Fluckey and Mr. and Mrs. Vern Wilkinson of Chambers were supper guests Sunday evening in the Loy Fluckey home. Mr and Mrs. F S. Carpenter of Omaha attended the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Park Center church of Elgin Sunday They also visited his sister and brother-in law, Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Whitaker iiim uruuwr miu siMur-ui-idw, Mr, and Mrs. E R Carpenter They were over night guests in the Carpenter home. Mr, and Mrs. Earl Hoerle and daughter, Bonnie, of Seattle, Wash are visiting his mother, Mrs. Jake Hoerle ami other relatives .and frionds. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Bernhart came Friday from South Gate, Calif., where lie had been employed. They will make their home on the Ed win Trenne<pohl ranch where he ■will be working Enroute home they visited a short time with Mrs Donald Grimes at Ft Collins and Bonnie Grimes at Eaton, Colo. Mrs. Bernhart is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Fr. Tracy of Cham bers. Mrs. Genevieve Bell left Friday for Ft. Collins, Colo, for a visit with her son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs Donald Grimes. Mrs. Jolvn Wintermote accompan ied Rev.' ami Mrs. Charles Cox to Burweil Saturday where they vis ited Mr Edd Cook .at the hospital. Mr. Cook is the father of Herman Cook of Meridan, Idaho, formerly of Chambers. The group also vis ited friends at Spalding. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Kiltz were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Neilson. Mr and Mrs LeRoy Holcomb quietly observed their silver wed ding anniversary May 30. Their son, Gary and Gale were home from the University between sem ester tests to spend the day with them. Mr and Mrs. Les Gossard and Charlene visited her mother, Mrs. Irene Boyens ami brother, Marvin at Atkinson 9mday. Mr and Mrs. Gordon Fluckey and sons of Hastings brought their mother. Mrs. Arthur Fluckey home Sunday after a two weeks visit with them and the Marvin Fluckey fam ily. (Mr. and Mrs Joe Kutcher and sons of Sedro Woolley. Wash., are visiting her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Blair and other relatives and friends. This years theme was “The Church". The officers were Mrs D K Mil ler, president, and Mrs. R. F. Miller, secretary-treasurer. Dorine Gleed was in charge of the music with Judy Beed, pianist. Teachers were Mrs Earl David, Kathy Ru beck, Karen Ermer, Ruthie Smith. Mrs. Elwyn Robertson, Danelia Whitaker, Mrs. E. R. Baker, Mrs. Lavem Hoerle, Madaline Cook and Mrs Wayne Gesiriech. At the high school rt>deo held re- 1 cently at Harrison a Chambers girl. Danni Whitaker. 16, won the barrel race in 40.1; the pole bending in 17.8; which was the best time and the breakaway-roping in 27.3. She j returned with several trophies and prizes. Clearwater New?
