POOL OPENS
The Bassett municipal swimming
pool opened Monday. Art Nicolar
Valentine track coach is manager
of the pool. The staff consists of
Bonnie Kopperman, Camilla Con
nell and JoAnn Buckendorf.
The reconditioning of the pool
was completed this week. The
pipe which had been rusted out
was replaced and the chlorinating
system renovated.
LIONS CLUB OFFICERS
Gordon Trousdale has been elect
ed president of the Bassett Lions
club. Bob Van Norman was pres
ident the past year.
Other offficers are Warren Mc
Clurg, Rev. Melvin Blognum, Gene

PASTOR RESIGNS
The Rev. Lynn S. Nichols has
resigned as pastor of the Assembly
of God church here. The family
will leave Bassett July 1. They are
on vacation at present to the West
Coast. Rev. Nichols has served this
church six yrs.

Sunday dinner guests at the Carl

Thursday for Ft. Collins, Colo, for
the graduation of their daughter,

annual meeting in Sioux City last

from Portland, Ore where they at-,
tended the National Iris Society
convention and tour which was held
May 18-21.

WSC8 Meeting
The WSCS met Thursday after
noon in the Wesleyan room of the
Methodist church. Mrs. Lowell Mil
ler of Gresham, Ore., Mrs. Emma
Dorr of Milwaukee, Wis., and Mrs.
Lucy Eiekhoff, all former mem
bers, were guests. Mrs. Alton Brad
dock had the devotion and lesson
entitled “Send Ye Forth With Joy.’’
It was illustrated with a playlet
assisted hy Mrs. John Steinberg,
Mrs. Emma Dorr and Mrs. George
Clasey. It was based on the problem
and feelings of parents of children
entering missionary work.
The EIJB church of Orchard
Garden club extended an invitation
to Page to attend their meeting
June 6 to see George B. German
pictures on Hawaii. This will be
followed hy a tea. There will be an
officers training or workshop on
.June 20 at Page at 2 p.m. At the J
June 16 meeting all birthdays from
April to June will be celebrated.

Mrs. Harry Thomson was hos

Honored at Shower
Mothers of the class of 1959 held
a bridal shower for Miss Ruth
Kelly Friday night in the fellow
ship room of the Methodist church.
Joyce Grass and Jeanette Urban
of Chambers and Mrs. Archie
Juracek of O'Neill helped her to
open her many gifts. The table was
decorated in blue and white with
a bridal doll as a centerpiece.
The entertainment, in charge of
Donna Crumly, consisted of games
and two songs. "1 Love You Truly"
and "Wither Thou Goest" sung by
Mrs. Merwyn French jr., accom
panied by Bonnie Crumly.

were Sunday dinner guests of Mr.
and Mrs. Lewis Copple of Norfolk.

breakfast on Monday morning. A
motion was made before the group
to change their by-laws so that they
could ask ladies from the country
to join.
Mrs. Otto Matschullat was a Mon
day overnight guest of Mr. and
Mrs. Edward Sukup of Orchard.
On Tuesday she joined 17 other
ladies from Orchard and went on a
chartered bus to Omaha where they
attended a state convention of the
LWML. They all returned on Tues
day evening.

been at Digan for the past two
weeks.

and Mrs. Joe Luebcke, entertained
four girls at a slumber party on
Saturday night. The guests, Linda
Smith, Bonnie Crumly, Joan
Fisher and Bonnie Heiss attended
a dance in O'Neill and then back i
to Jerilyn’s for lunch, before going
to bed.
