< ornerstone laying ceremonies were held at Lynch Sunday afternoon for the new $.50,000 Assump tion Blessed Mrgin Mary Catholic church. Rev Charles Kamber, pastor, presided at the rites and Msgr. Ttmothy O’Sullivan, St Patrick’* Catroltc church. O’Neill, of fired at the blessing and laying of the corner stone. Priests from Elgin, Emmet. Deiolt, Nellgh, O’Neill and Spencer attended the ceremony. Over 160 (mrishloner* and visiting dignitaries were served lunch following the ceremony. Charlm Ourtrlght Ht'nter 5-32M Sixteen seniors received diplo mas Tuesday evening at Com mencement exercises held in the high school auditorium. Tlhe class colors were pink and charcoal gray. The class flower was the pink carnation and the class motto was “We Build the Ladder On Which We Climb”. Richard Twiss played the Pro cessional and the Rev. Woodrow Elliot of the Methodist church gave the invocation. A saxophone solo was given by Dorothea Yaryan followed by the salutatory address by Dianne Herley. Kenneth Shi bata, Albion, former Clearwater Superintendent gave the Com mencement address, “Education and You". H. D. Mil ler board of education pres, pre sented the eighth grade diplomas. Charlie Kirchner presented the senior class gift to the school. Presentation of honors was given by Superintendent George Flass choen. The valedictory address was given by Jeanne Schnabel. Don ald Dufphey presented the class of 1960 and H. D. Miller present ed the diplomas. Jeanne Schnabel, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Schna bel was valedictorian and Dianne Herley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Herley, was salutatorlan. There was only .06 of a point difference in the average of the two honor students. Each of them was presented a trophy. Graduating Seniors were Sharon Anderson, Dianne Herley, Donald Hoerle, Patty Hoffman, Rosemary Kent, Charles Kirchner, Carol Knapp, Ronnie Loewe, RoDean Rice, Lois Sanne, Jeanne Schna bel, Sharon Snider, Shirley Tins ley, Laura Walter, Karen Wren holt and Dorthea Yaryan. FAREWELL PARTY Mrs. John Johnson was pleasntly surprised Tuesday afternoon when a group of neighbor ladies drop ped in for a farewell party. The group presented Mrs. Johnson with a gift. The Johnson’s are moving, to Albion where they have pur chased a home. They have re sided in Clearwater nineteen years. Carpenter Commencement exercises were 1 held Friday evening, May 20 at the school gymnasium. Judy Beed played the processional and the re cessional. The invocation and benediction was given by Rev. Charles Cox, pastor of the Metho dist church. Valedictorian of the class was Jeri Coday and the salutatorian was LaRue Weller. Giving the class history was Jim Kolm; the class will Arliss Wright and the class prophesy Jeanette Urban. Stanley Lambert sang, “Halls of Ivy,” and Mrs. Harlan Larson sang,, Gradu ation Day." Speaker of the evening was Dr. Donald Olson, member of the faculty of the State University, who used as his subject, “A Life of Decisions.” A citizenship award from the American Legion Auxiliary was presented to LaRue Weller by Mrs. Ernest Thorin. Another guest was the Jornson’s daughter, Mrs. Vern Hickok and baby of Denver. Mrs. Edd Coday drove to Hast ings Thursday, May 19 on business. Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Hoerle and family left Saturday, May 21 for Meridan, Idaho to spend a couple weeks with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Young and other relatives. Mr. and Mrs. Steve Shavlik and Pam, Mrs. Edwin Hubbard and Rickey went to Denver, Thursday, May 19 where they spent the week end visiting the former’s son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Myron Shavrik. Myron has just re cently been separated from the army. He has been stationed at Camp Carson the latter part of his service after having been in Korea about 13 months. They will make their home in Denver where Mrs. Shavlik has been employed during the time her husband was in ser vice. They have purchased a home. Mrs. Joe Koci went to Wisner Friday, May 20 to care for her small granddaughter while the mo ther, Mrs. Robert Brazda and new baby daughter are in the hospital at West Point. Mrs. Anna Albers reported that a box of eye glasses had been mailed for use on those in need. Lunch was served by the hostesses, Mrs. Genevieve Bell and Mrs. Joe Daas. Members of the Woman's Socie ty of Christian Service of the Meth odist church were busy Monday, May 23, painting walls at the par sonage and rtmoving storm win dows on the church basement. Mrs. Jack Beierie and children of Columbus camt Thursday, May 19, to spend a week or more with her mother, Mrs Paul Roth and sister Mrs Elwyn Robertson and family E. H. Medcalf has been tending the Shavlik Hardware the past week while the Shavhk t amity were visiting in Denver. Wayne Row so has purchased a building cm the south side of mam street near the Harley Hardware and has been repairing and re raodeling it the past week for his radio, television and electric busi ness which he has had in the west part of the Shavlik Hardware, Mr and Mrs, Kenneth Weller and family left the last of the week for Warrensburg, Mo. to vis it his parents for a few days. The Chambers high school stu dents accompanied by the teach ers, Mr Weller. Mr Carson and Mr. Gesiriech went to Long Pine Thursday, May 19th, for a picnic at Hidden Panadice Park The group enjoyed various forms of en tertainment while then*. Ronald Whitaker of Indianapolis, Ind , spent from Wednesday, May 18th, to Saturday with his parents, Mr and Mrs. Floyd Whitaker.
