Ewing News By Mr*. Harold Harris Last Week News Mr and Mrs James Mlnarik celebrated their 25th wedding ad versary Sunday. A 1130 dinner was served to the immediate members of the family. The three tiered white anniversary cake with pink and silver decora tions and topped with an orna mental immature bride and groom, flanked with candielabra was an attractive centerpiece. Present were the parents of the couple, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Ml narik and Mr. and Mrs. Fred Serr. Others were Mr. and Mrs. Dwight Schroeder and family, Mr. and Mrs. Dan Market, Karen and Lar ry Mlnarik and Mr. and Mrs Le land Finley and children. Mrs. Finley, a sister of the groom, was one of the attendants at the wed ding twenty five yeans ago. Open house from 2 to 5 p m at the Mlnarik house was attended by relatives and friends from Atkinson Neligh, Elgin, Ewing, Clearwater, Page and Gregory, S. D. Mrs Serr mid children of the Mlnariks were hosts Mr. and Mrs. Mlnarik have made Ewing their home since 1947. Mr. Mlnank has been employed at the Ewing Co-Operative Creamery for several years. Mr and Mrs Grover Shaw and daughter took her sister Aim Don ohue, to her home in O’Neill Sun day. She had been a guest at their home for the past week. Several members of the Christian Mothen of St Peters church are making plans to attend the Dean ery meeting to be held at Atkin son, May Kith. Mrs Butterfield also attended a shower for his sister, Miss Kay Butterfield, who will be a June bride Tihe Thursday Night Pitch club met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Davis with Mr. and Mrs. William Spence of O'Neill, the co hosts. Ail members were present. High score was won by Mr. and Mrs. G. D. Ryan. Low score went to Mrs. Elmer Bergstrom and Charles Rotherham. Miss Kay Rotherham attended the alumni banquet at St. Mary's Academy at O’Neill Sunday eve ning. All members {dan to attend a dinner m O'Neill Saturday evening and later play cards at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Spence. This will be the closing entertain ment for the Thursday Night Pitch club until later in the year. The Methodist Youth Fellowship were entertained Friday evening at a parity at the annex of the United Presbyterian church by the Youth Fellowship. Preceding the party, a devotional period was held, with Miss Diana Shrader leading the group smging. Miss Sharon Johnston was pianist. A film “The High Calling” was shown at this time. Games were played, in charge, Sharon Johnston. The boys and girls also enjoyed the new rec reational games of ping pong and shuffle board. Lunch was served to the twenty two members present. Mrs. Floyd Butterfield was spon sor of the party. She returned to her home in Ewing on Thursday. The American Legion auxiliary announce that Saturday, May 1-1 will be Poppy Day for Ewing and community. Plans will be complet ed at the regular meeting of the auxiliary to be held Thursday eve ning. May 12 at the Legion Club Mrs. H. R. Harris is Poppy chair man. The Annual fireman’s banquet was held Tuesday evening at the Legion Club served by the Amer ican Legion auxiliary'. Mrs. R. H Sham was in charge. Table decorations were carried out in a theme appropriate for the occasion. In attendance were the members of the Ewing Fire De partment and members of the Rur al Fire Department and their wives. Frank Noffke is fire chief for the Ewing dapartment and Melvin Rexine is chairman of the rural department.
