ACP-NEBRASKA Mr. Ressel. Chairman of the Holt county ASC committee said today that questions frequently arise concerning a comparison of the expenditure of Federal ACP cost-sharing funds between various types of practices. The (following) (above) chart portrays the expendi tures for various groups of prac tices for each of the last five years. "You will note," says Mr. Ressel, "that a very high percentage of the total net assistance has been spent for conservation practices which return long-range benefits. For example, from 32.5 to 40 per cent of the total assistance was spent for mechanical practices for erosion control, such as erosion control dams, terraces, diversions, drainage practices, etc.; from 7.5 to 15 percent of the total assistance was spent for irrigation practices to retard soil and water loss; from 12.5 lo 47.5 percent was spent for establishing vegetative cover in j eluding a large amount of assis tance for the retirement of crop land to permanent grass and es tablishing sod in waterways.” “Federal funds under the ACP are available to aid farmers in ap plying many different approved conservation practices on their farms,” says Mr. Ressel. “All far mers are eligible to receive ACP cost-sharing and can qualify by making their request at the Agri j cultural Stablization and Conser j vation Office at O’Neill, Nebraska I before carrying out the practice.” CITY COUNCIL PROCEEDINGS Council met at regulad session; Present Mayor Schaffer, Council- J men Hiatt, Moore, Heermann, Reynoldson.
