Joan Soukup Weds Gene Carr Saturday At St. Patrick's Church gt Patrick's Catholic church in O’NeiU was the setting for the wed ding of Mas Juana Soukup of O - iNeh and Gene Carr of Amelia. Magr Timothy O'SuMivan per formed the double nng ceremony in a 9 30 service Saturday morn ing, April 30 before an audience of 475 relatives and friends. Pat Carr, brother of the groom and Paul Kamphaus, friend of the couple, served the wedding mass. The brute is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joe Soukup of O’Neill. The groom's parents are Mr. and Mrs. Hugh Carn, also of O’Neill. Leonard Havranek, cousin of the bride and Douglas SpiUler, friend of the couple sang “On This I >ay ’ and "Ave Maria", accompanied by Sister Michael at the organ. The bride, escorted to the altar by her father, appeared in a white gown of nylon and chanully lace over Burmil satin. The portrait neckline of the molded bodice fea tured a narrow ruffle of tulle and was V shaped in back. Long fit ted sleeves ended in bridal points. Wide panels of lace formed the front and back of the floor length bouffant skirt of tulle, and deep lace shaped into points accented the sides. A pearl trimmed crown held in place the briide'g finger tip suk illusion veil. She carried a bridal bouquet of carnations, centered wth an orchid. She wore crystal ear-rings and necklace, a gift from the bridegroom. Matron of honor was Mrs. Donald MarceLlus, Atkinson, sister of the bnde. Bridesmaids were Mrs. Fred McCart, Emmet, sister of the bride and Miss Sharon Carr, sister of the bridegroom. Their dresses were patterned in blue nylon over taf feta with white inserts in the skirt. They carried pink tinted carna tions and wore crystal ear-rings, a gift from the bride. Flower girls were Charlene Me Cart, Emmet, and Donna Mae Mar cellus, Atkinson, both nieces of the bride. Ring bearers were Gary Souk up, nephew of the bride and Bruce Burge, cousin of the bridegroom Their ring bearer pillows were made by the bridegroom’s grand mother, Mrs. Holcomb of Bayside, Calif. Best man was his brother, Lyle Jamies Carr of Bayside. Grooms men were Frank Soukup and Dar rel Carr, Amelia. Paul Nielson of Omaha and Fran cis Havranek served as ushers. Following the reception a din ner for 200 and a reception for 350 guests was given by the bride’s parents. Mrs. Soukup was assisted with the dinner by Mesdames Bes sie Vavek, Julia Fleming, Hugh Carr, John Peter, Joe Peter, and E. J. Hrnicek. Ifne dinner was served by the Legion auxiliary with Mary Jurgensmeier in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. John Peter, Mrs. Charles Kalina and Mary Fiala assisted with the serving arrangements for the reception. Mrs. Bessie Vavak, assisted by Mrs, Joe Kalina mid Mrs. Joe Peter, served the wedding and sheet cakes. Mrs. Clyde Burge of Amelia, aunt of the groom, poured coffee and Mrs. James Havranek Jr. served punch. Mrs. Darrel Carr, cousin of the groom, was in charge of the guest book.
