Ott left Wednesday for Beemer to attend the funeral of Mrs. Ott’s niece, Mrs. Delmar Nitzsche. Pvt. Michael Liddy, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Liddy is spending a few days leave with his par ents, Mr. and Mrs. T. L. Liddy enroute to Ft. Gordon, Ga. Liddy I took his basic training at Ft. Ri I ley, Kansas. He will report for his new assignment April 22. His sister, Mrs. Dan Farrington of Alliance is also visiting her par ents and will make an indefinite stay while waiting to join her husband who is now stationed at Quantico, Va. while attending Mar ine officer’s training school. Mrs. Farrington will join him in June. Mrs. Leo Schneider was a Thursday and Friday guest in the home of her sister, Mrs. Albert Anderson at Neligh. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Sauser en tertained at a pre-Easter dinnerj on Sunday. Guests were their son in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Sylvester Venteicher and children. An afternoon guest was Mrs. Eliz abeth Venteicher. Mrs. E. J. Eby accompanied her son in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Bennett Gillespie and Dianne to Omaha where they visited in the home of their son and brother Robert Eby. Dianne took part in a piano contest sponsored by the Nebraska Federation of Music clubs at Joeelyn Memorial on Sat urday. She chose as selections, "Ballade” by Brahms and “Little j Elf” by Rudolph Ganz. She re ceived a superior rating. Mr. and Mrs. Paul Shierk were in Naper Sunday to visit Mr. and Mrs. John Qtahlecker. TO OREGON FOR FUNERAL Mrs. Ernest Richter died at her home in Oregon. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Richter, Mrs. Joe Schollmeyer jr. and Frank | Reynolds went to Oregon to attend the funeral services. SERVICES FOR INFANT Mrs. Mary Dusatko accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Jerome Allen to Grand Island Friday to attend the funeral of Patrick Alien, infant son of Mr. and Mrs. John Allen. Patrick was bom April 5, 1960 and died April 6 at the St. Fran cis hospital. He is survived by his parents Mr. and Mrs. John j Allen: two sisters—Julia and Eliz abeth; brother—(Michael and grand parents; Mrs. Mary Dusatko of O’Neill and Mr. and Mrs. Dale j Skinner of Grand Island. Area Men to Conference The general conference of the Methodist churches will convene at Denver in a ten day session, ^pril 27 to May 7. Harvey Tompkins, of Inman, chairman of the executive secretary of Board of Trustees, and Floyd Root, of Belden, district lay j lender, expect to attend the c«nfer-! encp. Holt County Track Meet Here Tuesday The Holt county' track meet will be held in O’Neill next Tuesday and many Holt county boys will be shooting for new track records. Both O'Neill track teams have shown well in recent meets, but O'Neill high gets the nod as the probable winner of the meet. Cardinals Second Eagles Place Fourth At Sandhills Meet St. Mary’s Academy took second place for Class B schools at the Sandhills relays held Tuesday at Bassett, while the O'Neill Eagles finished fourth among the Class A schools. Coach Don Templemeyer’S Acad emy boys scored 18 1/6 points in the second place win. Rock county high school at Bassett finished first with 34 1/6 points. Ewing Smothers Page In Dual Harold Parks and Fred Wright each scored 9 Mi points in leading Ewing to a 64 1/3 to 32 2/3 dual track meet victory over Page on Thursday at Ewing. Dennis Ikes was the Page workhorse scoring 15 points. The meet was run on the 220 yard track at the football field. On the track, Harold Parks, Ewing, scooted the 100 in 10.6 and barely nipped teammate Ron Cloyd. Ron Rrion, Ewing, copped the 100 yard low hurdle in 11.9. Dennis Ikes, Page, was the only double winner, taking the 220 in 25.4 and the 440 in 56.5. Richard Mlnarik, Ewing, took the 880 in 2:24. The mile and high hurdles were not run because Page did not have men entered. In the field. Cronk and Hall tied for first in the pole vault at 8’ 6”. Funeral in Colorado For Former Page Lady Funeral services were held Wed nesday at Ft. Collins. Cblo., for Mrs. Clarissa McIntosh, who, be fore her marriage was Mrs. Ed Goodall. Burial was made at Ft Collins. The Goodall family came to Page from Tilden in the early twenties and lived on the farm now tenanted by Mr. and Mrs. Orville Kemper. They moved from there to Merri man where Mr. Goodall died in 1932. Among the survivors are. daugh ters: Bernice Finley, Wellington, Colo., Mrs. Eileen Lynn, Cheyenne, Wyo.; Mrs. Alice Lowery of Lara mie, Wyo.; Mrs. Ruth Krupela of Omaha; two sons, Joe of Van Nuys, Calif., and Gene Goodall of Ft. Collins, Colo. Mr. McIntosh died several years ago. Her children were all at her bedside during the last days of | her illness. Mrs. McIntosh was a cousin of the Mallood family of Orchard. Dr. Ickes To Texas Horse Show PAGE—Dr. M. W. Ickes, D.V.M. of Nampa. Ida., visited his bro ther, Lionel Ickes, a student in his senior year in the division of Veterinary Medicine at the Colo rado University at Ft. Collins. He was enroute to Amarillo. Tex. where he attended a directors meeting of the American Quarter Horse Association. Lionel Ickes is serving as pres ident of the junior American Med ical Association. Both men are sons of Mr. and Mrs. N. D. Ickes. Two From O'Neill In Orchestra Two O'Neill freshmen at Ne braska Wesleyan university, Betty Rodman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Rodman, and Perry Dawes, son of Mr. and MrS. Neil Dawes, are members of the orchestra which will present a public con cert in Lincoln April 24. The 25-piece orchestra, the first in recent years as a continous year-around organization, present ed the program at the last Wes leyan student convocation before Easter vacation. Until this year, the group’s activities had usually . been limited to playing for the an nual fall opera production. ————————— j Former O'Neillite Dies in Oregon Funeral services were held Sat urday in Forest Grove, Oregon for Ulinord it;. l nomson, a rarmer longtime resident of the O’Neill area. Mr. Thomson died April 5 in Portland. Ore., at the age of 77. He had been ill for a month. Clifford Thomson was bom at Niobrara on April 17, 1882, the son if Jess and Evelyn Thomson. He jvas orphaned as a child and grew up in O'Neill where he lived with bis grandparents. He farmed for many years in this area before moving to Oregon in 1938. Survivors include his wife, the former Blanche Hodgett, six child ren, Mrs. Ted (Mildred) Pike, Dmaha, Clayton, Lynch, Clyde, Easton, Ore., Walter, Lester and ( Elmo, all of Seattle, Wash; 20 grandchildren and 17 great grand jhildren. May Extension Teas To Feature Salads ; Dates have been set for Home ; Demonstration Day Teas to be held in May at the Holt County exten sion club centers.
