Hospital Auxiliary
Members of St. Anthony’s hospi
tal Auxiliary met Monday night
for their regular meeting. The
group will sponsor a dance recital
by Sirs. W. D. Melina's dance
I classes and the date was set for
May 10.
The auxiliary also voted to spon
sor a blood-typing day and any
club or church group interested in
having members' blood typed
should contact the Auxiliary. The
next meeting will feature a discus
sion and explanation of blood typing
by a laboratory technician.
Plans were made for Hospital
Week which will be May 8th. Lunch
was served by Mrs. Leonard
j Dusatko and Mrs. Bernard Pon
gratz.
Delta Dck
Mrs. C. J. Gatz entertained mem
bers of Delta Dek bridge club last
Thursday with Martez bridge club
members as guests. Winners were
Mrs. Pat Harty and Mrs. Gatz. To
day’s meeting will be with Mrs.
Homer Mullen.
WCTT
WCTU members met for their
regular meeting Tuesday at the
home of Mrs, Claude Bates with
Mrs. Dave Loy presiding. Hostess
was Mrs. Ira Summers. The May
meeting will be at the home of
Mrs. Hazel Boatman.

Country Club Bridge
Almost 50 people turned out Sun
day night for the Country Cluh
Ladies Bridge at the Golden Hotel.
Husbands were guests. There were
11 tables of bridge and winners
were Bob Roberts, Mrs. Ed Glea
son and George Janousek.

At State WSCS Meet
Mrs Robert Embree, Mrs Wood
row Elliot, Ewing, Mrs. C. E.
Spence, Atkinson and Mrs. Aubrey
Wentworth. Springview, were
among the 900 women attending the
state WSCS Conference meeting in
Fremont last week.
Mrs. Embree holds a district of
fice, that of missionary personnel
'secretary for the northeast WCSC
district. She reported that new
conference officers elected included
Mrs. Sam McClung, Big Springs,
elected to the state vice presidency.
The president of the conference is
Mrs. Edgar Cobb, Ogallala. This
is the second year of her term.
One of the highlights of the meet
ing was the annual membership
march, the proceeds of which go
to missions.
According to Mrs. Embree, the
spring meeting for the northeast
WSCS district will be April 19 in
Wayne. This will include O'Neill
I and surrounding tow ns belonging
to the district.
Sick and Injured
O’NEILL—Danny Putnam, son of
Mr. and Mrs. L. D. Putnam became
entangled in the winch of a trac
tor while trying to pull Stanly Pe
ters out of the mud Sunday down
at the Putnam home ranch. The
end of the middle finger on his
right hand was severed complete
ly. He was in surgery for replace
ment of the dismembered finger
and it is expected that it will make
a satisfactory rejoining. Work is
forbidden for several weeks whilt
the healing process is in progress. . .
Billy Putnam, a senior in high
school, is at home with the mumps.
. . .Elaine Krugman, daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. Paul Krugman sub
mitted to an emergency appendec
tomy at midnight Monday, Mar.
28 at Immanuel Lutheran hospital
Omaha, where she is a student in
the Hospital School of Nursing.
Her mother went to Omaha Tues
day. They came home Sunday by
plane where Elaine will be a guest
in her parent’s home until after
Easter. . .LeRoy Cunningham was
released Sunday from St. Anthony’s
hospital and is recuperating at his |
home. Mrs. Cunningham’s aunt, |
Miss Maude Martin of Page, is!

ing his canvalescence.

CHAMBERS—Mr. and Mrs. Ralph
Maas took their small daughter to
a doctor in Tilden on Sunday
Rev. fand Mrs. Earl Schwenk took
their son, Steven to a Norfolk phy
sician on Monday. The boy has
mumps with a high fever and com
plications.
ATKINSON—Ray Carlisle is some
improved after suffering a heart
attack. He is in the veterans hos
pital in Omaha. . Robert Thomas
of North Platte, who has been hos
pitalized for several weeks m the
veterans hospital in Lincoln, was
released Friday and returned to
his home in North Platte.
NAPER—Joe Schmitz went to
Burke, S. D. on Sunday and
brought Mrs. Schmitz from the
Burke hospital where she had been
a pneumonia patient since Wednes
day.
EWING—Mrs. Alex Thramer, a
recent surgical patient at the An
telope Memorial hospital in Neligh,
is now convalescing at her home
. .Mrs. Lyle Dierks. who has been
a patient for sometime at St Ca
therine’s hospital in Omaha, went
to the home of her son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Wa
ters on Saturday. On Monday she
accompanied Mr. Dierks to their
home in Ewing. They were ac
companied by Mrs. John Blummel
and daughter, Janet of Omaha,
who will be guests at the home of
her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Kermit
Jefferies. . .Jerry Rotherham went
to Lincoln on Saturday and returned
home Sunday bringing Mrs. Rother
ham and Tamme. Tamme had
been a patient in a Lincoln hos
pital for about ten days.Mrs. Ro
therham was a guest at the home
of Mr. and Mrs. Lester W'ood dur
ing her stay in Lincoln. . .Mrs.
R. B. Krachie shows improvement
