The Chambers Fire Department
was called to the George Sladek

rooming because erf smoke in their
house. No fire damage was done
and the cause of the smoke was
not determined.
On Friday evening the South Fork
Quarter Horae Show Committee
met at the home of Mr. and Mrs
J.H. Gibson Members are, JH.
Gibson, Stanley Lambert, Kenneth
Adams, and Stan Huffman and
daughters and Lyle Bartak.
Sunday, Mar 20 dinner gjests in
the Darrell Gillette home included
Mr and Mrs. Lloyd Gibson of

man" magazine
The lesson 'Shoes that Fit" was
presented by Mrs. Melvin Bell and
Shirley Svatos Lunch was served
by the hostess. Next meeting will
be at the home of Mrs G.H
Grimes on April 15th.
Mr and Mrs. L.V. Cooper left
Wednesday, March 16th foe Wich
ita, Kan, where Mrs. Coooer at
tended a postmasters' school. They
returned Monday.
Dinner guests in the Raymond
Beed home Sunday, March 20th,
were Mr and Mrs. Dennis Kaup
and three children of Stuart, Mr
and Mrs Glen Grimes, Mr and
Mrs Bob Beed and three children
and Mr, and Mrs. Ralph Adams
and son. Larry, all of Chambers.
Mrs. Hattie’ Tibbets and Mrs.
Genevieve Bell arrived home Sun
day, from Tucson, Arizona
where they had spent the winter.

LJoyd Jutte of Omaha, son of
Mr and Mrs. William Jutte, of
Chambers has recently been pro
moted from Major to Lieutenant
Colonel m the U S. Army Reserves.
Jutte is a graduate of the Cham
bers high school.

DeWitt visited his father, John Wal
ter sr and sister, Mrs Rena Derk
ing Sunday. March 13th. Grandpa
Walter has been in poor health for
the past several weeks His son,
Alfred and daughter Mrs. Deirking
have been caring for him.
Sunday evening. March 20th, was
‘‘Family Night” at the Methodist
church A colored film “Mission in
Bolivia" was shown. Also presented
was the last two chapters of the
mission study Due to road con
ditions many were unable to at
tend There were 25 present.
Mrs, Joe Daas returned Saturday.
Mar. 19 from Omaha where she
had spent a week with her son-in
law- and daughter, Mr. and Mrs
Herbert Feriner and children and
getting acquainted with her new
grand son.

reach her school for several days

Howard Graham opened their
road Thursday so they could get
out and for the Mashino family
Also so their teacher Mrs. Frank
Gehlsen could get to her school.
Miss Jo Anne Aim missed several
days of school because the road
was snow blocked.
Mrs Felix Hendricks, who had
spent some time with her daugh
ter, Mrs. A. W. Aim, and family,
returned to O'Neill Wednesday.
Miss Marlyn Graham caught a
ride from Norfolk to O'Neill Fri
day and her parents met her there
Friday evening so she could spend
the weekend at home.
Miss Ruth Oslxun spent the
weekend in Lynch due to the road j
conditions in this community.
Laurence Hoy has been carrying
the mail the past few days, but '
didn’t make tin' complete route.
John Derickson called for andj
delivered the mail to several of
the families as John is the only one
around here that still has trusty,
old dobbin to wade the snow.
Mrs. ''Harold Osborn has been
busy making cornbread to feed the I
flock of Phoebe birds that are at |
their place. The Osborns made it
to town Saturday so they were
given some suet to help feed them.
