The seven members pre aent answered roll call by giving a good spring tonic Mrs. Edgar Stauffer and Mrs Stella Russell kail the lesson on "Shoes that fit”. Mrs. Frieda Asher and Mrs An ton Nissen were hostesses to the members of the R N. A. lodge when it met at the KX)F Hall on Wednesday night. Mr. and Mrs Kenneth Wettlauf er and family were Wednesday night callers of the George Wett la ii/ers. Miss Luranne Crumly, teacher at District 39 was a Wednesday and Thursday overnight guest of the Duane Sukups. East Side Kountry Klub met on Wednesday afternoon with Mrs. Warren Cronk Present were 13 members and one guest, Mrs,. Keith Kennedy. Roll call was an swered by the members telling something that gave them a good laugh. TTie lesson on “Shoe* that Fit” was given by Mrs. Kenneth Heiss Mrs. Norman Trowbridge won the special prize. On Tuesday night, Mar. 15 Mr and Mrs Norman Trowbridge vis ited at the Darrell Hei&s home. Mrs. Thomas Good art was hos tess on Thursday morning to the following; Mesdames Edd Stewart Jerome Allen, Ron Park( Curtiss Ri&erts, Richard Trowbridge and Verne Linnaus. The ladies enjoyed rolls and coffee. The second lesson of the study of ‘‘Luke’s Portrait of Christ” met on Thursday morning in the Wes leyan room with Mrs. Raymond Heiss giving the lesson. At noon the ten ladies preseat enjoyed a covered dish dinner. In the after noon the regular meeting of the W S. C. S. was held. Mrs. R. V. Crumly was in charge of the lesson entitled, “How Total is my Ste wardship”. Mrs. Harold Kelly was the pianist. It was suggested that the committees from January to June get together to make plans for the athletic banquet which is tentatively to be be Id on the 13 th of April. There was a nominating committee appointed to select the new officers to be voted on later. Mrs. Bernard Cooke left Wednes day to visit some relatives in Chambers and from there she went to Grand Island where she caught a plane for Omaha. At Omaha she changed planes and con tinued to her home in Eugene. Oregon She is the daughter of Mrs. P E. Nissen, who has been a patient in the St. Anthony’s hospital. Another daughter, Mrs Dale Hafen and a son and his wife, Mr. and Mrs. Leland Van Conent, both of Sacramento, Cal. left Thursday afternoon for their homes, from O’Neill. Mr and Mrs. Edd Stewart and Mickie spent Wednesday evening playing cards at the Thomas Good art home. G. G. G. and G. met on Friday aftfrooon with Mrs Otto Matschul lat. Mrs John Steinberg was a guest. Cards was played with Mrs. Frieda winning high score and Mrs. Clarence Stevens winning low Traveling award was won by Mrs John Steinberg. Mrs. Lorenz Riege was hostess to 12 members of the Golden Rule Extension club when it met with her on Friday afternoon. Roll call was answered by naming a favor ite brand of shoes It was voted to send a case of eggs to the Children’s Home at Omaha for Easter. Mrs. Dale Matschullat gave the lesson on “Shoes that Fit", with each member participating in by reading from the booklet they received on shoes. Several games were played with Mrs. R. V. Crum ly winning the guessing game. Mrs. Dale Matschullat will be the April hostess. Mrs. Alton Braddock was hos tess to nine guests when Mrs. Verne Linnaus showed her pro ducts at the Braddock home on Tuesday afternoon, Mar. 15. To the background of Benny Goodman’s music there was a spring fashion show. Mrs. Lee Taylor won the door prize. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Asher and Mrs. Harold Asher accompanied Mrs. Bill Sorensen and Jim to Om aha on Friday. Mrs. Soren Soren sen sr. rode with them as far as Norfolk where she visited with her son and family, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Sorensen. They all returned home that evening. The American Legion Auxiliary met on Friday night at the Legion Cl'Jib with 14 members present. Mrs. Lloyd Cork will act as pop py chairman . There will be a card party Sunday evening. March 27th to celebrate the Legion's birth day. The auxiliary will have their annual Easter egg hunt April 9th for children 10 years old and un der. There will be three cash pri zes and candy bars for all child ren who participate. Plans for Memorial Day were discussed with a committee appointed to bring ideas before the members at the April meeting. The door prize was won by Mrs. Lee Fink and the special prize won by Mrs. William Scheinost. Hostesses were Mrs. Jerome Al len, Mrs. Ben Kornock and Mrs. Don Nissen who served in the ab sense of Mrs. Harold Asher. Mr. and Mrs. N. D. Ickes and Mr. and Mrs. Dan Troshynski were Sunday night guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Asher. Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Asher and family were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Fusselman. Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kornock and family were, Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Art Neu haus. The occasion was the 25th wedding anniversary of the Neu hajses. Mrs. R. F Park and Mrs. El mer Trowbridge was hostesses to members of Chatter Sew at a pay off party Sat. evening. The ladies met at the Improvement Club for a 7 o'clock luncheon. Several games wore played for entertainment. Mesdames J. E. Smith, Anna Thompson. Jessie Cronk. Otto Mat schullat, Alton Braddock, Lyman Park. John Steinberg, and George Clasey took their breakfast and went to s.u'prise Mrs R. F. Park on her birthday Saturday morning To their surprise Mrs. Park was having her walls papered, so the ladies along with honored guest took their rolls and coffee over to Mrs. Thompson’s bouse and ate there. Mr. and Mrs. Alton Braddock Mr. and Mrs. Harold Heiss and Mr, and Mrs. John Steinberg met at the George Clasey borne on Sunday for a no-host dinner. Mr and Mrs. Arnold Tikalsky and boys were afternoon and sup per guests of Mr. and Mrs. Adolph Kruse of Verdigre. Before return ing home they also visited in the T. E. Tikalsky home also of Ver digre. Relatives have received word cf the death of Harry Roznarek of Ash ton. He was a cousin of Dan, Tony and Gene Mudloff. Mr. and Mrs. Lee Fink and boys and Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Fry and family of Ewuig were Sjnday din ner guests of Mrs. Kitty Fry of Ewing. Mrs. Harold Blaine, George and Leonard were Monday through Thursday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ray Harmon. Mrs. Blaine is the teacher of district No. 128. Mrs. H. 0. Hill, Stevie and Leah of Orchard were Saturday over night guests of the Edd Stewarts. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Prill and Mrs Frank Beeleart and Becky were Norfolk visitors on Saturday. Alvin Heese oi u iveiii, iuon Kramer of Atkinson and George Wettlaufer of Page went to Butte and Spencer on Saturday to meet with the Boyd County commanders to make plans for the American Legion Highway which will be ded icated on the 28th of March. Mrs. George Wettlaufer and children visited in the Andy Wett laufer home for a belated birth day celebration. Mrs. Louise Heese was a Sunday dinner guest of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Heese of Orchard Mr. and Mrs. M. L. Harmon of O’Neill were Sunday dinner guests of the Ray Harmons. Mr. and Mrs. Gene Mudloff and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Park, Mrs. Catherine Mudloff and Dan Mudloff were Monday night guests of Mr. and Mrs. Tony Mudloff for ice cream and cake to celebrate Brenda’s 12th birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Roy Boelter and daughter, Lynne moved on to the farm which was formerly owned by Fred Nasland. The Boelters are from Verdigre. Lynne is a fresh man in high school. Mr. and Mrs. Cordes Walker and Larry and Mrs. Evelyn Gray, all of Page, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Ba ber and Bonnie, Robert Baber and Miss Frances Twiss and Mr. and Mrs. Keith Weyer, all of Plain view, were supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Duane Gray of O'Neill. Mr. and Mrs. Rollie Park were Thursday night supper guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ron Park. The oc casion was the birthdays of both Mrs. Park. After supper they all went out to the Norman Trow bridge home for the remainder of the evening. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Harmon and family were Saturday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. A1 Vorce of O’Neill. Mr. and Mrs. William Soren sen and family were Sunday sup per guests of the Lee Finks. Little Jimmy Stevison, son of Mr and Mrs. Bob Stevison of Lincoln, had an unusual first birthday par ty last Saturday night. The party was held in his great-grandmother’s Mrs. Jennie French’s home with her baking the birthday cake. Also present were his grandparents, Mr and Mrs. Alton Braddock of Page and his great aunt, Miss Alice French of O’Neill. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Frahm, Ke vin and Marlin, Mr. and Mrs. Sid Frahm of O’Neill were Sunday din ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Rabbass of Neligh to celebrate Mr. Rabbasses birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Norman Trow bridge and girls were Sunday din ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dar rell Heiss. Mr. and Mrs. A1 Anthony and family were Sunday afternoon call ers at the Otto Matschullat home. Mr. Bob Sorensen of Omaha was a weekend guest of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Soren Sorensen, sr. Connie Nissen was an all day Sunday and overnight guest of Peg gy Crumly to help Peggy cele brate her 15th birthday. In the afternoon Ronald and Lura Grass called on the Crumlys to wish Peggy a happy birthday. In the evening Jim Hartman came over with ice cream. So Peggy had a real nice day. Eighteen were at MYF when it met on Sunday night at the Metho dist Church Kay Nissen and Al vin Crumly had the lesson and de votion. Joan Fisher and Sharon Hansen served refreshments. Young Adults met on Sunday eve ning with nine couples present. Mr and Mrs. Darrell Heiss had the lesson and devotion on John Wes ley. Mr and Mrs Emmitt Thomp son were coffee hosts. Mr. and Mrs. Bob Harvey and Mrs. Hester Edminsten were Sun day dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs Calvin Harvey. Mr. and Mrs. Merwyn French sr. of Page received word that their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Carroll French of Kapan ga, Belguim Congo in Africa are the parents of a daughter. Kirsten Marie born on the Hth of March. The Frenchs are Missionaries in Africa. Mr. and Mrs. Verne Linnaus and family had dinner with Mrs. Alida Hall of Oakland to celebrate Gigi Hall's 4th birthday. Darrell and his family will be here on leave until the 1st of April visiting his parents, the Art Grasses and her parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Heggemeyer and fam ily of Orchard. Mrs. Williard Frerich, Lyle and Vida helped Mr. and Mrs. Archie Juracek move from their apart ment in O’Neill to their ranch near Lynch. Mr. and Mrs. N. D Ickes were Thursday evening guests of Mr. and Mrs. Merwyn French sr. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Hall were in Phoenix, Ariz. two weeks at tending the Faith Missionary As sociation annual missionary con vention. They accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Howard of Mitchell S.D. Although Rev. Dale Hornback has been unable to conduct ser vices the two Sundays previous to Sunday, March 20 the services were very well attended. Prayer servi ces have been held weekly in homes of the parishioners. The Alumni association held a meeting on Monday afternoon at the home of Mrs. Cordes Walker, president. Those who attended were Mrs. Tony Mudloff, vice-president and Mrs. John Steinberg, secretary treasurer. Also, Mesdames Harold Heiss, Earl Parks, and Calvin Harvey. It was decided that the banquet will be held on Saturday night the 2»th of May. The group will meet next Monday at Mrs. Walker’s home. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Fick and family of Inman were Sunday din ner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Dick Trowbridge. Afternoon callers were Mr. and Mrs. Marion Parks. Those from the Page unit who attended the Holt County Legion and Auxiliary meeting at O’Neill on Monday night were Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Cork, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Harmon, service officer and Mrs. Alvin Heese of O’Neill, and and District Commander and Mrs. George Wettlaufer. A1 Sommers of Norfolk addressed the joint group. Mr. Sommers is the Madison Coun ty service officer as well as a member of the rehabilitation board. Needlers Receive Books TheNifty Needlers 4-H club met at the home of Carolyn and Mar ilyn Max on Saturday, March 12th We filled out our year books and received our project and record books. Our next meeting will be on March 26th at the home of Linda Linnaus with Peggy O’Brein as co-hostess. There are 22 members in our club. Carolyn and Marilyn Max served a delicious lunch.
