uisem High Eagles continued its one-point mastery over North Central conference teams Friday downing Ainsworth for the second time this season, 62-61, and won the conference tournament at Ainsworth. The Eagles gained the finals by beating Valentine by one-point in the closing seconds. O'Neill led most of the way in Friday night’s game with Ainsworth and sported a 5-point margin at halftime. At the close of the first quarter the game was tied at 17 all. The Eagles then poured in 20 points during the second quarter to lead at halftime, 37-32. A cold third quarter enabled Ainsworth to cut the lead to one point, 46-15, but O’Neill matched Ainsworth's fourth quarter total of 16 points to take the win. Bob Eby continued his scoring habits by dumping 28 points in the final game. Bob Micheel had 20 points for Ainsworth. The Cardinals, who led only once during the game, pressed all the way with defensive ball the out standing feature. The third quar ter was the only high-scoring quar ter and txith teams matched their entire first half scoring during this period. The Lions went into control hall for the final period hut St. Mary's managed to cut the lead to two points with 4 seconds remaining Then IJska dropped a charity toss to ice the game. Dick Cleary sparked the fourth quarter drive with 2 quick baskets in the last minute rally. Both teams tk exactly 50 shots Niobrara hit on 19 and O'Neill made 18 of them good. The Lions got 4 of 13 free throws and O'Neill had 3 for 7. The Cardinal reserves won their 10th game in 12 starts by downing the Niobrara second team. Lueken of Lynch completed a one-week tour of border patrol duty Feb. 1 with the 14th Armored Cavalry Regi ment in Germany. Specialist Lweken, a mechanic in Company A of the regiment s 1st Battalion in Fulda, entered the Army in January 1957 and was last stationed at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo.
