had collected over 600 coffee stnpa
to be *ent to help the children
get Christmas presents. They de
cided to send a box to Albert Stof
ferr Mrs Wn*. Sorensen will be
the January hoatesa.
The American Legion met on,
Tuesday sight with JO members j
prwmt The hat was panned for
a collection to pay for stamps
received from the welfare com
mittee. They collected over $13 00
and the legion added the rest to
send $27.30 It was decided to have
a New Year’s eve party.
Mr and Mrs Jesse Kelly and
Mr and Mrs. Lyle Abney of In
man were supper guests of Mr.
and Mrs Tommy Kelly of Wisner
on Thursday. After supper the
group attended the school Christ
mas program of Gene and Janet,
children of the Tommy Kellys.
Page Extension club met with
Mrs Merwyn French sr., on Tues
day afternoon with 9 members
and one guest, Mrs. William Rag
land present. They packed boxes to
be sent to the shut-ins in Page.
Mrs Edgar Stauffer gave a les
son on covering Christmas boxes.
Roll call was answered by nam
ing someone you would like to
send a box of cookies. Lunch was
served by the hostess. Next meet
ing will be an all day meeting with
Mrs. Harry Harper and the hqs
bands are invited as guests.
Wednesday night supper guests
of Mr and Mrs. Milo Landreth
were Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Schei
ndeler of Broken Bow, William
Pike of Ord and Don Anderson of
Norfolk.
N. O. K. club met with Mrs.
Ren Asher on Thursday for a
covered dish dinner. There was
a Christmas gift exchange and
revealing. Mrs. Oate Wiseman
was the only one guessed. It was
also election of officiers with Mrs.
Glenn Stewart as the new presi
dent and Mrs. Ray Harmon, sec
retary and treasurer, Mrs. Hester
Edminsten, who had been a mem
ber for years decided to drop out
Mrs. Oate Wiseman will be the
January 14th hostess.
Help-U-club had their Christmas
party on Wednesday afternoon
with Mrs. Ralph Broukhouser
There were 12 members present
They had a gift exchange They
kept an attendance record ail
year and the members who at
tended the most meetings were
entertained by the one who at
tended the 1 east Cards were
played fur The afternoon's enter
tainment. Each of the winners
i were presented a little gift by the
losers The club will serve at the

and instead of birthday cake each
guest received a cupcake decorated
in red and white with a red candle
in the middle. Mrs. Bob Nissen
had the Christmas lesson and read
a mission story. Mrs. Cordes Wal
ker sang “Silent Night," Mrs. Har
old Kelly accompanied her on
the piano. The group signed a
birthday card to be sent to Mrs
Nina Stauffer at I^amberton, Minn
Elmer Trowbridge and Bob Nis
sen put the finishing touches on
the Opportunity consolidated school
house on Friday. It is located
4 milea west of Nels Linquist cor
ner.
Mr. and Mrs Ross Rakow, Lori
and L. C. Rakow arrived here
Wednesday from Goldendale.
Wash They expect to be here
until the 4th of January. The Robs
Rakows are visiting Mrs Haxel
Kimes of Neligh and L. C Rakow
visited the Alfred Connors and
will stay for a few days with the

Royal Neighbor! met for their
Christmas party on Wednesday
night with 21 members present
They had a gab bag and a covered
dish lunch.
Lt. and Mrs Richard Buxton
and family arrived here on "Fri
day to spend the Christmas holi
days with Mr. and Mrs. William
Buxton. Lt Buxton just returned
from attending an instrument
school at Camp Gordon. Ga. After
the holidays he and his family
will go to Camp Campbell, Ky.
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Heese and
family of O'Neill were Thursday
evening visitors in the Ben Asher
home.
Mrs. Frieda Asher received the
mystery prize gift Tuesday even
ing when Mrs. Hester Edminsten
entertained at a postponed meet
ing of the SOS club. Mrs. Alta
Finch will be the hostess for the

Mr and Mrs. Otto Matsehullat
left Thursday for San Diego, Calif ,
where they will visit Mr and Mi's
Sid Stulier and Mrs. Alice Clark
and families and Mr. and Mrs
Memon Chase at Portersville.
They expect to be gone for awhile.
There was a free show held on
Saturday afternoon “Gypsy Colt"
and after the show Santa Claus
arrived to give out treats to all
the kids. This was sponsored by

Andrea and Mi's Louise lleese
went to Sioux City on Friday.
Andrea went to have a treatment
on her face and Mrs. Heese went
to have her eyes examined.

broke her hip After weeks of
being in the hospital and then
learning to walk again she was
getting along just fine and could
walk fairly well with the help of
one crutch. On Friday night she

ter. Mrs, Vivian Steinberg when
she fell urtd broke her other hip |
She was taken to O'Neill and on
Saturday was taken by ambulance
to Omaha Her son, Lloyd Cork
accompanied her there.
