reading circle. Mrs. James Grimes
showed samples of material aval
able in folding doors.
The meeting closed with prayer
followed by a special recognitior
of all whose birthday's occurred
in October. November and Decem
ber. The tables for those being
honored were attractively decorat
ed in keeping with each of the
three months and three angle food
cakes. Tea, sandwiches, mints,
cake and coffee were served. A
short program followed with Mrs.
Guais Wintermote telling ol
October's special days. Mrs. John
Wintermote reading a poem on
"Thanksgiving” and a sextette
consisting of Mrs. C. V. Robert
son, Mrs. W. H. Crawford, Mrs
Guais Wintermote, Mrs. Glen
Adams. Mrs. Glen Grimes and
Mrs. Raymond Beed singing "Star
of the East.”
The American Legion Auxiliary
of unit 320 met Friday evening.
Dec. 4 at the home of Mrs. J. W
Walter. Sixteen members answered
roll call. One visitor, Mrs. Roy
Cooke of Bartlett was present.
The meeting in charge of the
president, Mrs Ed Coday, c««n
sisted of routine business with tin
ex ception of p. "Seasons Greet
ing' from the district 11 president,
read by Mrs Coday. There was
an exchange of Christmas gifts a
social hour and lunch served by
the hostess.
Ed Coday entered the Veterans
hospital at Gram! Island Wednes
day, December 9, where he ex
pected to undergo surgery.
Tommy Miller, small son of Mr
and Mrs. Roy Miller, was a
patient in St Anthony’s hospital
in O'Neill Friday, Dec 4, suffer
ing with pneumonia. He was able
to return home Saturday evening
Dick Porter is a patient in the
Atkinson Memorial hospital.
Mrs. Sarah Adams and Mrs
Bert Lybolt departed Saturday
from Grand Island for California
where they will spend the winter.
The former with her daughter and
son-in-law, Mr and Mrs- E. Sal
strom and son at Turlock and the
latter with her sister at Lancaster
and other relatives in California.
Mr. and Mrs. Louis Neilson visi
ted the Misses Edith and Mabel
Kinney near Park Center west of
Elgin Sunday.
Art Walter underwent an ap
pecdectomy at St. Anthony's hospi
tal O'Neill Sunday, December 6.
Connie Werner and her room
mate from Lincoln spent the week
end with her parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Kenneth Werner.
Mr. and Mrs James Gibson and
Mrs. A B Hubbard returned
Wednesday, December 2 from a
visit with relatives at Phoenix,
Ariz.
Mr. and Mrs. Bob Ceams, who
have been employed at the Blaine
Garwood ranch near Amelia,
moved Thursday, Dec. 3 in tothe
Edwards house in the northeast
part of tow-n.
The Junior Garden club met
Saturday afternoon, Dec. 5 at the
home of their sponsor, Mrs. La
Veme Iloerle with 14 present. The
