Clark-McNary Trees To
Be Available in 1960
The County Extension office an
nounced this week that there will
be a good supply of Clark-McNary
trees available for I960 windbreak
and woodlot planting These should
be ordered early to avoid last
minute shortages.
Christmas trees will also he
available for 1960 planting These
trees are Scotch and White Pine
anil Douglas and Concolor Fir
County Extension agent A. J
Snyder also said that farmers
should take seed and soil samples
early and send to latioratories for
analysts. He noted that the best
time to get the samples is now
before the heavy winter frost sets
in. This would give ample time to
make plans for next year’s fertiliz
ation program.
Profit Clinic
Set At Norfolk
Neil Dawes. Holt county exten
sion agent, announced this week
that a "Farm Profit Clinic” will
1k> hold at Norfolk, February 10.
Farmers and ranchers from 11
Northeastern Nebraska counties 1
are invited.
Dawes stated that a full day of
activity for those attending will j
include discussion in the general
areas of minimum tillage, increas
ing pasture profits, new develop
ments in irrigation and new de
velopments in erbps and fertiliz
ers.
A free lunch will be served at
the meeting.

Dunk Peterson bought a build
ing from Sam Gilman recently.
The building formerly housed the
Atkinson cream station Mrs.
Stella Sparks moved her cabin
which joined the building to her
farm Sunday Bill Sammons worked
on it the early part of the week" to
join it to Mrs. Sparks house for
a bedroom. Mrs Spark s place
is tenated by the Bob Adair fami
ly.
Gene Thompson has been spend
ing the past two weekends here
with his family. On the weekend
of Nov. 30, he was here for the
funeral of Mrs. Thompson's grand
mother. Mrs. Marie Boettcher and
served as one of the pallbearers.
Mrs. Kieth Barthel returned
home Saturday from the hospital
where she had an appendictomy.
Mrs. Lyle Fix has been ill with
a gallbladder attack and planned
to enter the Atkinson hospital the
first part of the week.
Patty Frahm, daughter of Mr
and Mrs Hienie Frahm, observed
her 7th birthday Friday, Nov. 27
and in honor of the occasion
treated all of her schoolmates to
ice cream.
Mr. and Mrs. Newel Gapter of
Boulder, Colo., stopped at the
home of his aunt, Mrs. Effie With
ers on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 29
for a brief visit.
Mrs. Lela Ernst and her sister.
Mrs. Ruth Alstadt of Salina, Kan.,
spent a few days with Mi's. Delia
Ernst. They returned to Salina on
Saturday. Mrs. Lela Ernst, wife
of the late Charlie Ernst, has been
attending a business school and
will be employed with an insur
ance company in Wichita, Kan.,
after the first of the year.
The Chambers Garden club met
Tuesday, Dec. 1, at the home of
Mrs. Vern Sageser. It was an all
day meeting and Christmas party.
A covered dish luncheon was
served at noon. There were 15
members, three visitors and four
children present. Mrs. Jim Salem,
Mrs. Ralph Rees and Mrs. Elmer
Coolidge w'ere the visitors.
The Amelia Women’s Society of
Christian Service met Wednesday.
Dec. 2 at the home of Rev. and
Mrs. Cox in Chambers. There
were 12 members and one visitor
present. Mrs. Vern Sageser and
Mrs. Blake Ott assisted by Mrs.
Ralph Rees, Mrs. S. C. Barnett.
Mrs. Blossom Butler and Mrs.
Emma Lindsey presented the les
son. Mrs. Clyde Widman provided
Christmas music w'ith her record
player. Mrs. Cox and Mrs. Earnie
Johnston served lunch.
Mrs. Jerry Cuddy and son, Tim
my and Mrs. Julia Kamphaus of
O’Neill were Friday visitors with
Mrs. Lewie Burgett.
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Herrington,
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Herrington,
Joan, Billie and Tommie of Bas
sett and Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Cud
dy and Timmie of O’Neill were
Sunday dinner anil lunch guests ol

Mr. and Mrs. Glenn White en

supper Monday evening.

mission work in Mexico at the
Paul Fisher home Wednesday eve
ning.
Beth Fullerton was ill last week
with sore throat and infection and
unable to attend school.

day at the Glee Grimes home in

Mrs. Dunk Peterson took her
little granddaughter, Kay Johns
ton to the doctor Monday morning
for eczema on her face. Mrs.
Gertie Adair accompanied them
to Atkinson.
Father Hour of Randolph was
speaker at the Catholic church
Sunday morning.
B. W. Waldo, John Zinkon, Sam
Gilman and Art Waldman were
Atkinson callers Saturday.
Mrs. Elmer Coolidge spent Mon
day with S. C. Barnett making
Christmas gifts.
Mr and Mrs. Orland Fryrear
were Sunday dinner guests at Del
bert Edwards.
Mr. and Mrs. Darrel Carr, and
Mr. and Mrs Ray Walnofer were
in Lincoln and Omaha Friday. Mr.
Walnofer consulted an eye doctor
in Lincoln and all visited Mr. and
Mrs. Paul (Carol Burge) Nielsen
in Omaha.
Art Waldman is a patient in the
Atkinson hospital. He did not at
tend church Sunday morning which
was his usual custom, so his
niece, Mrs. Art Doolittle went to
his home to investigate and found

Sunday, Dec. 20, in the evening
the Christmas program will be
