Lenz of Lincoln visi ted her son-in-law and daughte; Mr. and Mrs. Don Dankert an: family and other relatives and friends several days last week. Mr. Lenz came for her Saturday, lie was accompanied by Caroi Tracy and Patty Grubb, who visi ted until Sunday, when all re turned to Lincoln. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Burge left Wednesday. Nov. 11 for Miam. Beach, Fla., for a weeks vacation They were to go by plane from Omaha. Mrs. Celia Christionson i: caring for the Burge children. Chuck Foster, missionaiy from Algeria, West Africa and Mr. and Mrs. Leo Adams of Atkinson were Sunday, Nov. 8 dinner guests in the William Turner home. Mr. Foster is conducting a mission panorama at the Memorial Baptist church. He is a house gue^t in the James Platt home. The American Legion auxiliary met Thursday evening Nov. 5 at the home of Mrs. Esther Wood with 13 members present. The president Mrs. Ed Coday con ducted the meeting. The song "My Faith Looks up to Thee," was sung with Mrs. John Honeywell as pianist. The chaplin Mrs. Steve Shavlik led in prayer. Plans were discussed for the Veterans Day dinner to be held Nov. 11 at the Legion Hall and for the lunch the auxiliary will serve at the Louis Walter sale. It was voted to give $3.00 for second place and $2.00 for 3rd place winners in the essay contest. The Legion voted to give $5.00 to the 1st place winner This is for the test essay on county government day. Lunch was served by Mrs. Wood, Mrs. Ruben Peltzer and Mrs. L. V. Cooper. Next meeting will be at the home of Mrs. J W. Walter Dec. 4. Mrs. F. E. Newhouse returned Thursday, Nov. 5 from Wichita, Kans., where she had spent over a week assisting her son and daughter-in-law during the illness and after the death of the latter’s mother. Mrs. Newhouse’s mother, Mrs. Johnson who died in Wichita of a heart attack was taken to Axtell for burial. Her home was in Holdredge. She was 66 years of age. Jim Newhouse and boys brought his mother home.
