It was on February 22, 1934 that Mrs. Ted Morton. Mrs. Henry Mar tin. Mrs. Clarence Wrede and Ri ta Knapp met at the home of Mrs. George C. Robertson. Oth ers had !>een invited but a farm sale was being held in the com munity and they thought it more fun to attend the sale. Mrs. Ro bertson reviewed the book. "Spring Came on Forever” by Bess Street er Aldrich. It was decided at this meeting to meet with Mrs. Henry Martin in March. Miss Rita Knapp gave a review on "The Mohandas Gandhi,” at this meeting We had a larger attendance. In April we met in the home of Mrs. Art Auker where the Alpha Club was officially organized as a literary club and it has carried on continously since. Mrs. Aaron Boshart is the only member, who has never missed a meeting. At one meeting she had to go on horseback. Mrs. Boshart was presented with a miniature horse with mounted rider. We have tried to live up to the aim of the club. "Betterment of the Community. Mr. and Mrs. Bennett Sanders opened up their spacious home for this picnic dinner, seventy were present, all connected with the club. Those from a distance pre sent were: Mr. and Mrs. Donald Boshart and son of Kearney, Mrs. Mona Behrens of Kearney, Mr. and Mrs. Ted Morton or Bassett, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Morton and daughter, Ann of Bassett, Mr. and Mrs. George Rector of Marysville, Wash., Mr. and Mrs. Vinton Si monson, Mr. and Mrs Tom Simon son and son, Mr. and Mrs. Gene Uryasz and daughter, all of Omaha and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Hahimer lunn of Norfolk. "Do You Remember and Did You Know through the Twen ty Five Years" was read by' Mrs. Aaron Boshart. She also read a sum may of the club year 1936. An amusing club forecast, written in 1936 by Mrs. Art Auker entitled. • Fifty Years in the Future" was read. M r s. Dobrovolny interviewed Mrs. George C. Robertson, found er and first president of the club; Mrs. Aaron Boshart, who never missed a meeting Mrs George Rec tor, who came the farthest dis tance and Mrs. Bennett Sanders, hostess for the day'. The afternoon drew to a close with plans for another twenty five years of the “Doings of the Alpha Club." Ewing News The neighbors of Wilbur Bennett came again to his assistance on July 13 when they arrived with the necessary equipment and culti- ■ vated 170 acres of corn. Mr. Bennett continues to improve from his injury which occured June 18, while doing field work. He is able to do light chores about his home. The home of Mr. and Mrs Au brey Woods was the scene of a reunion of the graduating class of 1923 from Ewing High School. Tables were placed on the spac ious lawn in the shade of trees. A prefect setting for the bountiful picnic dinner served. The weather too, was delightful for such a gath ering. During the informal after noon many memories of school days were recalled.
