Nine members were there and Mrs. Ma rie Baker was a guest. The lesson, "Bread Making,' was given by Mrs. Schimdt. Airs. Don Wecker, and Mrs. Edward McManus. White and whole wheat bread were made. Mrs. Joe Menish gave the re port on the home demonstration week program by Jane Scott from the Simplicity Pattern Co. Plans were made to have a float in the rodeo parade. A bread auction was held among the mem tiers and the proceeds will go the the 4-H camp at Halsey. Luncheon was served. Next meet- ; ing will be with Mrs. Bud Tibbets. | MNO MNO extension club met May 26 at the home of Mrs. Duane Gray. Fourteen members and one j new member, Mrs. Dean Horner, ■ answered roll call. O'Neill Women's Club The annual membership tea of the O’Neill Women's Club was held Tuesday evening at the home of Mrs. H. L. Lindberg. Tea hostes ses were Mrs. Vernon Lorenz, Mrs. i Miss Ruth Novak Weds Mr. Herman Meyer In Pender Ceremony The Assembly of God church in Pender Was the setting for the May 23rd wedding of Ruth Novak, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Frank Novak of Pender, to Herman Mey er, jr.t son of Mr. and Mrs. Her man Meyer, sr., of Atkinson. Rev. Ernest Rosenkrans solemn ized the double ring ceremony be fore an altar decorated with bas kets of blue majestic daisies and white gladioli and miniature palms Mrs. J. S. Rihanek of Thurston, pianist, played traditional wedding music and accompanied the solo ists, Leon Ilammack of Minne apolis. Minn., who sang "Because,’’ and Mrs. Gene Novak of Thurston as she sang ‘‘I Love You Truly,’ and "Wedding Prayer.” The bride, given in marriage by her father, designed her own gown of traditional white satin. The Waist was satin overlaid with Chantilly type lace, had a sweet heart neckline, a lace collar, and long lace sleeves pointed at the wrist. The floor-length Satin skirt with overskirt of tulle had wide inserts of Chantilly type lace from the waist to the floor. Her fingertip veil of tulle was edged with match ing face. She carried a lavender orchid with lily-of-the-valley on a white Bible. Miss Delores Novak, sister of ttx bride, was maid of honor. Her flooi length dress, also designed by tlx bride, featured a blue taffeta waist overlaid with blue lace. Ttx blue taffeta skirt had an overskir of net ruffles overlaid with a gorec skirt of blue lace which was seal loped in the back showing the ne ruffles. She carried a satin and lacs May basket of blue and whiti daisies. . _. „ Miss Bette Novak, sister of ttx bride, was bridesmaid. Her dres! and bouquet were identical to tha of the maid of honor. Little La Jean Novak, niece o the bride, was flower girl. She wore a white taffeta dress with a lace bodice. Her floor length taffeta skirt overlaid with net was trim med with white satin bows. Her miniature basket of flowers was similar to that of the maid of hon or. Master Gary Rihanek served as ring bearer wearing formal attire identical to that of the men in the bridal party. Kenneth Meyer, brother of the bridgroom, served as best man and Donald Novak, brother of the bride, as groomsman. Ushers were Kenneth Novak of Leigh and Rev. Ivan Meyer of Wayne. For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Novak chose a navy crepe dress with white accessories. The bride groom’s mother wore a turquoise crepe dress with white accessories. Their corsages were blue and white carnations. Following the ceremony, a recep tion was held for 135 guests at the Presbyterian church. The beautiful cake was baked and served by Mrs Harry Neiman of Wakefield, sister of the bridegroom. Mrs. Ivan Mey er poured and Mrs. Kenneth Novak served the punch. Mrs. Stan Rihanek, hostess, was assisted by Mesdames Cal Stueve and Webb Hyde. Waitresses were Misses Ruth Adams, Marilyn Les lie and Mary Louise Plants, all of Minneapolis, and Beverly Meyer of Atkinson. At the gift table were Misses La Cinda and La Donna Stueve of Nor folk. Miss Barbara Rihanek had charge of the guest book. Rev. Nolan Christian was master of ceremonies at the reception pro gram. Others contributing were Mr. and Mrs. Leon Hammack, Rev. Robert Paul of O’Neill, and Rev. I Ivan Meyer. For going away the bride wore a blue linen tailored suit with white accessories and the orchid from her , bouquet. Spence, Atkinson Lamb Services Held Funeral services for Mrs. George Lamb, formerly Ethel White, of the Dorsey community were held at St. Patrick’s church , in Fremont on May 31. She passed J away Wednesday, May 27. Rela tives from O'Neill who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. I Chris McGinn, Mr. and Mrs. Boh : White and Frank McDonald. Miss Shirley De Hart And Mr. G. Van Gerpen Exchange Vows In a church decorated with bouquets of bridal wreath and pink carnation. Miss Shirley De Hart, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar De Hart, Chambers, became the bride of Gene Van Gerpen, son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter Van Gerpen, Fremont. The double ring ceremony was performed by the Rev. C. Cox at the Methodist Church in Chambers at 2 p.m. May 23. The bride, given in marriage by her father, appeared in a floor length gown of silk organza and embroidered lace. The bodice fea tured a scalloped pearl trimmed scoop neckline and long sleeves tapering to bridal points. The full skirt was fashioned with deep insertions of lace and a large streamered bow. The bride carried a bouquet of red roses. Mrs. Bob Leiswald, Fairmont, was matron of honor, wearing a pink sheath cotton dress with a net over-skirt. She wore a white hat and carried a bouquet of white and pink carnations. Best man was Gary Van Ger pen, Fremont. Ushers were Bob Leiswald, Fairmont, and Bob Ki ger, Fremont. Mrs. E. Robertson provided or gan music and Mrs. Letha Cook sang “Because,” and "The Wed ding Prayer." Following the ceremony a re ception for 115 was held at the church. Dona Lee Van Gerpen at tended the guest book, Mrs. Lar ry Strong served punch and Alice Frerichs served coffee. The cake was cut by Mrs. Bayne Grubb. For her traveling attire, the bride wore a blue flowered nylon dress with white accessories. They traveled to Salt Lake City, Utah, and Denver, Col. Mrs. Van Gerpen graduated from Chambers High school and Wayne State Teachers College. She has been employed as .a school teach er in a rural school. Mr. Van Gerpen graduated from Fremont High School and is now employed by the Muse Construction Co. in Fremont, Mr. and Mrs. Roy Rotherham of Ewing announce the engage ment and approaching marriage of their daughter, Bernadine, to Clarence E. Cook, jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Cleamce E. Cook, Sr., of McCook. A late summer wedding is planned. Miss McCarthy will graduate from St. Catherine's hospital school of nursing in August. Mr. | Pruss has attended Creighton University and the University of Nebraska and is presently em ployed in Omaha. The couple plan a July wed ding. Happy Helpers Ituihl Float The Happy Helpers 4-H club met May 18 at the court house annex. Thirty-five of the forty members were absent. Three meml>ers have dropped out. Leann Jackson gave a demonstration on sandwich fill ings. Neil Dawes was a guest at the meeting and suggested that the club be thinking of ways of mak ing money for the state 4-H club camp. The members approved the building of a float for the rodeo parade. Connie Johnson, reporter Mr. and Mrs. Kichnrd Allen Young were married at the Cham l>ers Methodist church May ‘it. She is the former Klalne Worden from Amelia. The couple will live on a ranch near Bassett. Charles Cox officiated at the 2 p m. ceremony at the Cham bers Methodist Church with mem bers of the immediate family pre sent The bride wore a blue street length dress of net over taffeta and her bouquet was of carnations on a white Bible. She was given away by her father. Beverly Dimmitt, Burwell, was bridesmaid. She wore a light blue dress and carried carnation Itou quet. Lee DeGroff. Following the ceremony, a reception was given by Mrs. Lavern Hoerle at her home in Chambers. The couple planned a wedding trip to Wyoming. They will be at home on a ranch near Bassett. Mrs. Wordon is a 1959 graduate of Burwell High School and Mr. Wordon is a 1957 graduate of Chambers High School. Ed McCarthy of Columbus spent the weekend here at the George McCarthy home. Mr. and Mrs. Don Maw were in Harlan, Iowa, for the weekend with her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Charles J. Klein. Mr. and Mrs. Ed Thomas of O’Neill announce the engage ment of their daughter, Helen Fern to Chirk 0. Rager of Gor don. Miss Thomas attended Wayne State Teachers college and has been teaching at the Cordon grade school. Mr. Rager is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Otis R. Rager. He is a graduate of Chadron State.
