Page Newt No Permanent Peace By Yielding to Demands By Alvin C'rumly Memorial day services were held at the Page School auditorium on Saturday morning, Pat Patterson of Stuart, gave the address Mr. Patterson said "There would be no permanent peace by yeilding to the demands of dictators; that to a communist anything that advances commun ism is legal. "In Flanders Field" was mad as a memorial to all the soldiers killed in action. Memorial services were also held at the cemetery. lr=— v ■= The Amercan Legion was in charge of the services. Caramel Spice Cake (Two 9-inch layers) X cup butter 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed M: cup granulated sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla 2 egg yolks 2X cups sifted cake flour \Vi teaspoons baking powder 1 teaspoon soda 1 teaspoon cinnamon V\ teaspoon cloves Ms teaspoon salt IV4 cups buttermilk 2 egg whites, beaten stiff Vz cup brown sugar, firmly packed. Cream together butter and sugars until light and fluffy. Beat In vanil la and egg yolks. Add sifted dry ingredients alternately with but termilk; mix until smooth. Grad ually heat Vi cup brown sugar In to egg whites: continue beating until mixture is stiff and glossy. Fold into batter. Pour into 2 greased and floured 9-inch cake pans.
