Junior Finch went to Creighton for medical attention on Wednes day He received a mashed finger at the Finch farm two weeks ago. He is getting a long very well. Mr. and Mrs. Ora Caskey made a business trip to Omaha Thurs day, May 21. _I EMMET SCHOOL NEWS I'pprr Grade Room The last meeting of the Golden Keys Club was held Friday morn ing with Derold Perry, president calling the meeting to order. We answered roll call with something about our field trip. Our program was our hike. Monday, the Emmet School spent the day in O’Neill where they spent a very enjoyable day. Students from the upper grade room wrote the letters of request and thank you to the various places that we visited. The places included M & M Bakery, The First National Bank. The Courthouse. St. Anthony’s Hospital, The Police Station, The Firehouse. The Harding Creamery., Radio KBRX and Merri Beverage. We had our picnic dinner at the Park. Those providing transporta tion were Mrs. Bud Cole. Mrs. Wayne Fox. Elmer Schaaf, Duane Miller, Merlyn Shaw, Miss Murray and Helen Martens. We wish to thank all of those who helped make our field trip a very enjoyable and educational experience. Those of the upper grade room with perfect attendance the last sLx weeks were Dwaine Skopec, Merlyn Shaw , Dennis Alder. Linda I Bates, and Sandra Alder. Those on ! the Honor Roll are Jean Foreman. Edward Pettinger, Madeline Ri chards. Dwaine Skopec, Ruth Schaaf. Linda Bates, Jim Newton, Bernard Schaaf and Dixie Shaw. Gregory Tenborg entered the sixth grade this week. Rex Fox, Mrs McGinnis, and Dennis Ri chards visited the upper grade room. -- i 1 Leadership Conference In Bassett Today; Holt Is Represented The annual 4-H Junior Leader ship Conference is being held in Bassett May 27-28 M e m bers of 4-H enrolled in Junior Lea der projects are eligible to attend the conference. This is a district event including Holt, Boyd, Keya Paha, Brown, Rock. Wheeler, Gar field, Loup, CheiTy and Thomas, Blaine, Grant, and Hooker coun ,ies. The program will include work shops on careers, personality, de velopment, recreation and other Junior Leadership activies. In ad dition, the District Timely Topic Public Speaking contest will be at 10 a m. Wednesday. Kathy Brady of O Neill and Gary Fick of Inman will represent Holt County in the contest. The two day activity begins with registration from 9:00 to 11:00 a. m. at the Bassett Hotel on Wed nesday. The program closes Thurs day afternoon with a summary of activities. Junior leaders who are interested in the conference are asked to con tact the county agents office. Mr. and Mrs. George Montgo mery attended the school picnic at the Wilmer Mosel school district Tuesday evening, May 11. The Harold Mlinar family, O'Neil, May 19. and Mr. and Mrs. Z. H. Fry were supper guests last Sunday at the Wayne Fry home. Raymond Turner and Miss Su sie Sheets of Blair were weekend guests at the Ivan Turner home. Raymond plans to go to San Fran cisco Thursday to study about nu clear power. Mi-s. Dave Anson accompanied the Bill Butterfields to Valentine Friday to visit her sister-in-law, Mrs. Duane Stevens, who is recu perating from bruises recieved in a car accident.
