House Warming Party
A Surprise to Couple

A house warming party was held
Sunday afternoon at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Roland Horde, who
moved from their farm home to
Ewing this spring. Visiting was
the pastime of the old friends,
relatives ami neighbors. A lunch
was served by the self-invited
guests in late afternoon.
Present were Mr and Mrs. Fred
Sern of Clearwater, Mr. and Mrs.
James Mlnarik, Mr. and Mrs. D.
A. Gunter, Mr and Mrs. Dewitt
Hoke and Clayton, Mr. and Mrs.
Lionel Gunter and Paul, Mr. and

Mr and Mrs. George Montgomery.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Schrad, Mrs.

Mo,, were guests Friday evening
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. M.
Burtwistle.
Mr. and Mrs. Ben Larsen and
Mrs. Ella Zeims took Mrs. Ed
Pruden of Phillipsburg, Mo., to
Norfolk on Saturday where they
spent the day visiting relatives.
On their return home, Mrs. Pru
den stopped at Neligh where she
plans to visit her daughterand hus
band, Mr. and Mrs. Tom Coleman
before returning home this week.
Mrs Ed Bruden of Phillipshurg,
Mo., spent several days in Ewing
visiting her sister-in-law and hus
band, Mr. and Mr*. Ben Larsen
and other relatives.
Mrs, Dora Townsend of Page is
a guest at the home of her sister
and husband, Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Fleming.
Mrs. Waldo Davis and Marie
went to Orchard Friday evening
to attend a shower for her neiee.
Miss Carol Barton, held at the

They remained overnight, guests
at the home of Mrs. Duilse Beal.
Mrs. (iene Zimmerman attended
the miscellaneous shower for Miss
Carol Barton hekl Friday evening

Orchard.

companied by his brother and wife,
Mr. and Mrs. Pierson of Torring
ton. Wyo., were Monday evening
guests at the Waldo Davis home.
Mr. and Mrs. Waldo Davis and
Marie were six o'clock dinner
guests April 21 at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Merle Filkins at Bruns
wick. The occasion was in honor
of the birthday anniversaries of
their son Milan, Mr. Davis and
Mrs. Homer Barton of Orchard.
Mr. and Mrs. Clem Schrad of
Omaha are spending a week's va
cation with his parents, Mr. and
Mrs Frank Schrad.

were Mrs. Charles Rotherham and
Mr. Archie Tuttle, while low score

Mr. and Mrs. R. S. Brion accom
panied by his mother, Mrs. Maud
Brion of Neligh attended the 60th
annual Northeast Nebraska Ban
ker’s meeting held April 22, at the
Hotel Madison at Norfolk. Guest
speakers for the afternoon were
Cecil W. Means, vice-president of
the Stockyards National Bank ot
Omaha and Harris V. Osterberg of
Omaha, state secretary. Senator
Roman L. Hruska spoke at the
6:30 banquet.
Friends and relatives were in
vited to the Frank Noffke home
Thursday evening, Ihe occasion a

noring Mrs. Richard Williamson.
Hostesses were Janet Noffke,
Lois Jean Kaczor and Coralee
Schmiser.
Contest games provided enter
tainment, with prizes going to
bride. Miss Noffke was in charge
of the gift liook and assisted with
the gifts.
Refreshments were served.
Mrs. Mildred Tams was one of
the thirty school teachers in Nebra
ska, w;ho received a scholarship
from the Ak-Sar-Ben for study at
college summer sessions Each
aw'ard was for one hudred fifty

The winners were selected by a
committee headed by Dr. Free
man Decker, State Commissioner
of Education.
Mrs. Tams is a teacher in the
Royal public school this year. Her

age' cast of Ewing known as the
Rene Libby property, which they
purchased a few weeks ago.
They have made their home in
the Clarence Latzel property
since their marriage on January
3.
A food sale by the members and
friends of the First Methodist
Church was held Saturday evening
at I>eota's Hobby Shop. Mesdames
John A. Wood, Robert Pruden and
Earl Pierson were in charge. The
group appreciated the patronage of
the Ewing community in this fund
raising project.
Mr. and Mrs. Ray Magwire and
children of Grand Island spent the
weekend in Ewing with her par
ents, Mr. and Mrs. Victor Cram.
Louis Vandersnick went to Lin
coln on Monday where he will en
ter the Veterans Hospital for
treatment. He was accompanied
by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Leo
Vandersnick.
Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Tomjack
and children accompanied by Mr
and Mrs. Richard Edwards and
family were Sunday guests at the
home of Mr. and Mrs. Everett
t'aylor at Oakdale.

day night pitch club was held

Davis. On Monday afternoon Mrs.
Davis and Marie took her to Plain
view where she will visit her
daughter, Mrs. Walter Austin and
family a few days.
Mr. and Mrs. Max Angus and
son were weekend guests of his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Angus.
Max. who is in the U. S. air force,
returned to the states on April 9th
from Spain w'here he had spent the
past several monts. After his 21
day leave he will be stationed at
the Lincoln air base. The family
will move to Lincoln to make their
home.
