Mrs. Allred Napier and Mrs. j Thomas Hutton were presented a carnation corsage tor the most weight loss in 1958 Mrs. Hutton ' was also presented a Top pm for being the tjueen of 1958. The group has lost a total of one hundred pounds since their organi zation in October 1958. An election of officers was held, resulting in the re-election ol all officials for the past months. They are Mrs. Gene Zimmerman, pre sident; Mrs. Thomas Hutton, vice president; Mrs. Elmer Gnm, se cretary; Mrs. Thomas Hutton, tre asurer; Mrs. Allred Napier, news reporter. Weighing recorder is Mrs. Hester Timmons. Mrs. Bertha Urban was made an honorary member and Mrs. Ir ma Cram became a new member. Wright of Great Falls, Mont., were overnight guests at the home of his nephew and wile, Mr and Mrs. Earl Wri ght and family on Thursday. Mr, and Mrs. Earl Wright had as their dinner guests Thursday evening, his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. P. V. Wright of Great Falls, Mont., and Mrs. Hoy Wright of Ewing. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Kropp and family went to Stanton on April 12th, to spend the day with rela tives. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Hutton and family were Sunday guests at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mds. T. D. Hutton at Inman. Mrs. Thomas Hutton chairman of the cancer drive in Ewing will be assisted by Mrs. Gene Zimmer man. The village of Ewing will lie canvassed this week. Friends and neighbors ol Mrs. Daisy Wilson may write to her at the Hilltop Manor Home at Genoa, where she is now staying. A number of ladies were enter tained at a party Wednesday after noon at the home of Mrs. Joe Tom jack. Mrs. Minnie Larson is at Mea dow Grove at the home of her sis ter-in-law, Mrs. Closson Larson, whose husband died at the Veter ans hospital at Grand Island. Mr. Larson had been in poor health for several weeks. Funeral srvices for Mr. Larson were held Tuesday morning at Meadow Grove and burial was j made at Stromsbwrg. Mrs. Jessie Angus was an honor ed guest at the home of her sister and bruther-m-law on Saturday when she celebrated a birthday an niversary. A one o’clock umner was served. Howard Miller of North Platte, brother of Mrs. An gus and Mrs. Hoag, was also a guest. Mr. Herman Schroeder and dau ghter, Gloria moved to their home in Ewing from their larm west of Ewing Mr. and Mrs. William Uoies, who occupied the town resi- | dence, moved to the Schroeder : farm. Mrs. J. L. Pruden and Mrs. John Pruden were Norfolk shoppers on Tuesday. Twelve memtiers ol the Try and Do Home Extension club answered to roll with their pet peeve when they met Thursday evening at the home of Mrs. Gene Zimmerman. Mrs. J. L. Rotherham was a guest. The lesson on "Line and Design in Clothing" was presented by Mrs. Dean Pofahl and Mrs Charles Wright. Mrs. Willis Rockey presided at the business session. Names were drawn for secret sisters. Lunch was served by the hos tess. The heavy wet snow fall dur ing the weekend brought consider able moisture to Ewing and vicin ity. Road conditions as well as dri ving caused several Sunday and weekend visits to be cancelled. Mr and Mrs. Melvin Gunter of Ode bolt, la., were visitors on Sa turday at the home of her mother, Mrs. Anna Pollock and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dewitt Gunter. Mr. and Mrs. Dewitt Gunter spent Sunday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roland Horde. Mrs. Lyle Dierks, who has been hospitalized for some timein St. Joseph’s hospital in Omaha, is now convalescing at her home in Ewing. Mi. and Mrs. Earl Billings at tended the golden wedding anni versary of his brother and sister in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Bil lings at Neligh on Sunday. There was a family dinner at noon and an afternoon reception attended by one hundred friends and rela tives. Mr. and Mrs. William Price and children from Kentucky spent their spring vacation with her mo ther. Mrs. Martha Hill and other relatives in the Ewing vicinity. Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Grim ac companied by his mother, Mrs. Lizzie Grim were Sunday guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Har-. ry Butterfield at Orchard. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Thompson of Page were entertained at a six o’clock dinner Thursday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Grim. The Chambers Farmers and Ranchers Co-op Association has annouced it will open a branch at Ewing which will include tank wa gon service delivery of petroleum products to Co-op customers in the EwinglPage and Orchard territory Francis Heumcsser has been se cured to operate the Ewing branch. He has been working at tbe Ewing Co-op Creamery . Dean Tuttle, who was recently released from ser vice has been hired to take his place at the Creamery. Miss Phyllis Larson 18, of Nor folk who with two other persons, lost her life in a highway crash Sunday night, near Tabor, Iowa, was well known in the Ewing com munity. She had attended the Ew ing high school and later the O' Neill high school from which she was transferred in January 1958 to Norfolk high school whore she was a member of the senior class. Her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ches ter Larson, had made their home in the Ewing and Chambers com munities for several years before moving to Norfolk. She is the grand daughter of Mrs. Minnie Larson of Ewing. Sarvivors are her parents, se ven brothers and sisters and a host of other relatives.
