St. Mary's Take Holt Tournament St. Mary's Academy hit the cin ders Wednesday afternoon and with 73 and one-third points, defeated eight Holt County teams The track was reasonably at Stuart. O'Neill high ran hard and il it would not have been for a very hot Larry Tomlinson, they might have defeated the Cardinals. O'NedJ placed second with 55. Stuart third with 41. St. Joe fourth with 17, Chambers fifth with 14, w'ith 8, Ewing seventh with 6 and Atkinson eighth w'ith 5. Inman failed to score. Tomlinson won the high hurd les, low hurdles, shot put and dis cus; Jerry Taylor of Stuart tied a Holt county 100-yard dash record in 10.1 seconds. Page Slams Inman 13-6 In Wind The Page baseball nine banged out 17 hits, good for 13 runs while Clair Parks and mates were hold ing Inman to six runs Many of the balls which fell for hits would have lieen routine outs, hut a nasty wind played tricks on the fielders Arnold Hall and Ralph Simmons took hitting honors with 4 for 5 and 3 for 4 respectively. In winning the game the Eagles I sewed up the Western div ision and now will meet the winner of the ; Eastern division for the conference I championship sometime this month. Oakdale Defeats Page Baseball Nine 7-3 The Page baseball nine lost the play-off game to the Oakdale team Friday 7-3. When Larry Liedtke celebrated his fourth birthday Tuesday even ing guests at his home were Mrs. Marie Baker and Donald and Mary Jones. I --Obituaries- | George Cutler CHAMBERS-George Cutler of Id. aho, whose address was Rockford Wash., died April 14. Funeral ser vices were tentatively set for Sat urday. Mrs. Cutler’s brother-in law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Del bert Edwards and son, Zane, and daughter, Arliss, left early Thurs day to attend the funeral. They were accompanied by Charles Ed wards of Park Rapids, Minn Mr. Cuttler is survived by his wife the former Hazel Snelson; two sons, Melvin and Elden and families of Idaho, also eight grand children. Their only daughter. Marian, Mrs. Charles Edwards of Chambers, was killed in a car ac cident a number of years ago. The Cutler family, w'ho formerly re sided at Chambers, left here _t.* Oil __ __ Trln dale batters over the seven inning route and allowed only five hits. Shoddy fielding by the outfield proved his downfall. Jerry Schwarting was effective on the mound for Oakdale, allow ing Page only three hits and fan ning 14 batters. Page will enter the District tournament of May 4, but the site has not yet been selected. O'Neill Locals Carolyn Lindberg, student at | Nebraska Wesleyan University is enjoying spring vacation week ! at home. The Undbergs drove to Linc oln Saturday to get Carolyn. Helping to celebrate the 11th birthday of Paul Younie at the Donald Younie home were Mr. and Mrs. Joe McLeish. Dr. and Mrs. Robert Waters and daughter will leave Saturday for Plattsmouth where they will visit at the home of her sister and family, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Evers. Dr. Waters will attend the Nebra ska State Medical Association mee ting in Omaha next week. Mrs. Bernard Gribble and Mrs. Sylvester Zakrzewski were in Ne ligh Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Strange, Sheridan, Wyoming were guests Monday at the W. W. Waller home. The sale will include 150 yearling \ rattle with a balance of calves and cows and small calves. One consignment includes 40 head of heifer calves weighing 450 pounds (these are Herefords, all one brand, dehorned and vaccinated) and : another, 15 head of yearling steers, 28 head of mixed yearlings and calves. 24 fall calves, 19 yearlig heifers and a number of other good consignments. Putnam's permit was canceled last month by the Aberdeen office of the Indian bureau on the charge that that he overstocked the range.
