Mrs Mary Neimand returned tc her home Saturday. After a week; visit with her grandson and wife Mr. and Mrs. Gene Neimand ir Omaha. Gene is stationed at the air base there. Mrs. Neimand con suited a doctor while in Omaha Mrs. and Mm. Robert Brazda and daughter of Winner were weekend guests of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Root. Mrs. Koel accompanied them hack to Winner and also went to Schuyler to visit her sister. Mr. andMrs. Andrew Gilbert were overnight guests of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs Dale Gilbert and family at Stuart April 9. Mr. ami Mrs. Dave Holcomb ol Aurora came April 10 and visited until Sunday afternoon with Mr and Mrs. L. V. Cooper. E V. Seventeen children were invi ted to a joint birthday party in honor of Norma Wintermote, age 7 and her sister Janet, who is 3 years old, at the home of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. IJoyd Wintermote Monday afternoon. Norma’s birthday was Monday and Janets will be April 19. A group of legionaires met Mon day evening to do some masonary rapair work at the Legion hall A training meeting for Extension Club leaders was held April 10 at the home of Mrs. S.H. Grimes with the home agent, Mrs Katheryn Indra presenting the lesson. The Chambers Firemen held their regular meeting Monday ev ening at the fire house. Sunday dinner guests of Mr and Mrs. T. E. Newhouse were Mr. and Mrs. James Grimes and Mr. anti Mrs. G. H. Grimes. The Woman's Society of Chris tian Service met Apirl 9 at the Methodist Church with Mrs. E. H. Medcalf and Mrs. Fred Catron as hostesses. Twenty members were present. Mrs. IJoyd Gleed gave the se cond study lesson on Isaiah assis ted by Mrs. T. E. Newhouse and Mrs. James Grimes. A report on the state meeting was given by the delegates, Mrs. Glen Grimes and Mrs Raymond Beed an a report of the District meeting by Mrs. Darrel Gillette. A Corsage to Missions w’as pre sented to the pastor’s wife, Mrs Charles Cox, to the president of the woman's society, Mrs. T. E. Newhouse, and to Mrs. R. K. Platt, who is unable to attend because of ill health. There was a report of the no minating commuttee and the elec tion of officers. All officers were re-elected with the exception of secretary of missions which will be Mrs. James Grimes and secre tary of spiritual life, Mrs. Erwin Carpenter. Lunch was served by the hos tesses. ' Ewing News By Mrs. Harold Harris Mrs. Dora Townsend, a fifty year member of the Jephthah chapter, Order of the Eastern Star was honored Tuesday evening at the regular meeting. She was pre sented a golden fifty year pin by John A. Wood, worthy patron and a jeweled brooch by Mrs. S. M. Burtwistle, worthy matron. Mrs. Townsend was worthy ma tron in 1945 and has held other of fices as well as having been organ ist. The luncheon table was centered with a three tier cake decorated in gold and white topped with a golden "50" and flanked by golden candles in crystal holders. Miss Vina Wood and Mrs John A. Wood were hostesses. The regular business session was held followed by the exemplifying mitatory work. Mrs. Lee Wood of Lingle, Wyo. was a guest.
