The Page 1-egion Auxiliary served dinner for the Sorensen families attending the funeral of Anna Sorensen. Tlie northeast district meeting of the WSCS was held at Page Methodist Church April 3. Over 217 registered making and record at tendance. The district officers presented a fine program. Guest speakers were Miss Elizabeth Johannber, a mis sionary home from the Philippine Islands. Harold Grume from Om aha City mission and Miss Unioia Adams of Atkinson a returned mis sionary who gave a short talk. New officers were elected and in stalled as following: Mrs. Roy Nor man of Wausa, presdent; Mrs. A. E. Palmer of Pierce, vice-presi dent; Mrs. M. Chambus of Homer, recording secretary and Mrs. C. E. Spence of Atkinson, treasurer. Mrs. C. Whitney of Carroll, pro mation secretary; Mrs. A. Went worth of Springview, missionary education; Mrs Clem of Wausa. supply work; Mrs. M. Wendler of Ainsworth, student secretary; Mrs. F. Swanson of Randolph, spiritual life; Mrs. R. Embree of O'Neill, missionary personell; Mrs. Wood row of Elliot, childrens work; Mrs. D. Roach of Elliot status of women. The rural schools around Page held their annual arithmetic con tests March 31. The winners will go to the Holt County arithmetic contest April 11 at the O'Neill Public school. The N.O.K. club will meet April 9th at the home of Miss Dura Grass. The Eagle Hustlers Dairy Divi sion met at the home of Joe Bee laert Wednesday with Dennis Ickes as co-host. The Page Band director, Mr. L. Sawyer, will present the annual spring concert Thursday, April 9. The public is invited to attend. Pie and coffee will be served by the band mothers. The Page fire department was called out Friday to the Methodist Church where the WSCS women were burning paper and the trash barrel blew over, starting the grass a fire. The Lyndley Crumly family were dinner guests Sunday at the Verne Reed home north of O'Neill. The junior class of Page pre sented a three act play, "Me and My Shadow", Friday' Mr. Harrington (Ronnie Parks) saved the life of a Hindu slave girl (Connie Riege) after he took his wife to the train station to go visi ting. Then he finds himself in real trouble as he tries to conceal her from his motherlinllaw (Kay Nis sen) and his snoopy neighbor (Mar lene Frahm). Even with the help of his friend, Dr. Douglas (Dennis Cork) and the family maid (Ver nona Frerichs), his secret is soon found out. The mystery deepens as the mo ther-in- law is kidnapped by a Hin du mystic who is later captured by the local sheriff (Jim Miller). After Mrs. Harrington return the mystery slowly unravels. The Page Nine Clubs Orchard The Page baseball team jour neyed to Orchard Friday where they dealt Orchard a 13-2 setback. Both teams have had little practice and it was evident in all aspects of the game. Clair Parks was on the mound for Page and turned in a commen dable job, allowing only four scratch singles over the 7 inning route. The Eagles gave him good support with the bats as they bang ed out 13 hits including two boom ing triples by Ralph Simmons, plus fine hard smashes by Fred Cronk, uennis uoik anu v_iair t'aras. jun Cork turned in the fielding gem of the game, making a fine one handed running catch of a fly ball. Coach Park played all 13 boys. The lineup included Rod Kennedy, catching; Clair Parks, pitching: Arnold Hall, first; Dennis Cork se cond; Ralph Simmons, short; Fred Cronk, third; Gene Harvey, left fiell; Norman Wettlaufer, center and Jon Cork right field. Capable reserves were Pat O'Brian, Ronald Asher, James Melcher and Loren Boeder. The next game will be with Inman. Chambers News By Mrs. E. B. Carpenter The annual meeting of the Cham bers Rural Fire District was held April 2 at the Chambers Metho dist church. Dinner was served by members of the woman's Society of Christian Service. Present were board directors, volenteer firemen, village board members and their wives, about 50 in all. William Berens, Chief Fire Engineering Instructor, was the guest speaker. He also showed a film. The American legion post no. 320 met Friday evening at the le gion hall with Commander, Ed Co day presiding. Routine business was handled and a committee ap pointed to meet with the commer cial club to make plans for July 4 celebration. Mrs. Eddie Walter and Mrs. Donald Green were hos tesses. The President, Mrs. J. W. Walter, was in charge of the bus mess meeting. There was a discus sion on scholarship and community service awards.
