St. Mary’s Quint Gets Tough; Downs Two Touted Teams The St. Mary's Cardinals caught fire during the week as they upset two tough opponents in a three out of four day game schedule. Inman and St. Francis Mission fell to the court speed and savvy of the Cards. Highly touted Inman was defeat ed 62-17 at the hands of the Cards and St. Francis fell 64 to 44. The Cards dropped one of the last three games to Niobrara 39 to 44. Tomlinson continued to pour on tile punts as he has during the season and hit the nets for 27 points during the St. Francis game and 17 points during the Liman game. Arnold, with a 12-1 record has won 11 in a row since dropping an early season game to the strong Hasting St Cecilia team Arnold is presently rated No. 8 in the Lincoln papers in Class C, j and has lost only five games in j iliree years. St. Mary’s w'ill meet Burwell in the 7:00 opener, while Bassett and Old play the 2nd game, on Tues day night. Ewing Club Wins, Loses During Week EWING The Ewing Tigers de feated the Clearwater Cardinals, 44-36. Tuesday night, February 3, as Harold Parks hit 20 points for i the victors. Tom Patras connected with 21 for Ewing. Ewing was in front, 21-19. at halftime. Throe Cards were chas ed via the foul route and all of Coach Tom Hutton’s Ewing kids were carrying at least three fouls. A total of 43 violations were whis tled. Friday night the Tigers lost to Battle Creek. 42-45, at Battle Creek I Jerry Hahlback was Ewing's best | pointgetter wih 14. Nannan log I ged 20 for Battle Creek.
