O’Neill High Band
to Ainsworth Clinic
The North-Central Nebraska
conference band clinic will be held
Monday, January 26, at Ainsworth
with high school bands from Val
entine, Ainsworth, Springview,
Bassett, Stuart, Atkinson and O’
Neill participating.
Forty-seven members of the
O’Neill puplic school band will
depart at 6:30 a m., Monday by
bus and four cars.
The combined bands will be
divided into two units with ap
proximately 190 members to each
band. Frank Piersol of Iowa
State university and Darwin Sny
der of West Side high school,
Omaha, will be the guest conduc
tors. Each band will play six
numbers.
Rehearsal will be held all day
with a concert, open to the public
beginning at 8 o’clock that even
ing.

6:30 p m.
A porch light aglow will convey
the word to mothers that a dona
tion awaits.
Captains of the mothers’ march
will be Mrs. Robert Kurtz. Mrs
P. C. Shaffer, Mrs. Leigh Revn
oldson. Mrs. William Kelly, Mrs.
James Early, jr.. and Mrs. Don
Wecker. They will recruit moth
ers to participate in the march.
The captains of the business
section will be Mrs. William Mc
Intosh. Mrs. John Donahoe and
Mrs. Roy Shelhamer.
The march of dimes will in
clude a four-proneed attack on
disease. The specific targets, in
addition to polio are arthritis,
birth defects and disorders of the
central nervous system.

tendent and H. L. Lindberg, board

attend the state school board as
sociation meeting.
Gov. Ralph Brooks (D) addres
sed the board members and said
there was misconception regard
ing federal aid to schools. He told
the audience: "Many of you trav
eled federal aid highways to Lin
coln for this meeting without any
federal intervention or interfer
ence”.
His remarks Inter were chal
lenged by Lt.-Gov. 1 Hvight Burney
(R) of liartington. Brooks former
ly was superintendent of schools
at liartington.
