at our regular weekly sale, Including a lot of good calves.
There'll be about 400 good, top Hereford calves and several
hundred yearlings.
Included Is one consignment of fancy 750-pound yearlings
coming from Elgin; there util be 35 black whlteface steer cal
ves; 12 head of first-calf heavy springer Holstein heifers weigh
ing from 1.000 to 1,100 pounds.

has been ill for several weeks, is
recovering from a low virus pneu

Stauffer had the misfortune to
break the small bone in his right
leg when he slipped on a patch
of snow and fell against the edge
of an 8x8 timber. His leg is in
a cast.

infection in his left eye on which
surgery was performed recently.

storm which last week hit New
ark, N.J., where he is working. A
75-mile-per-hour wind blew a trash
can against the windshield of his
car, breaking the shield. He re
ceived cuts, bruises and broken
ribs and was hospitalized a few
days. He is getting along “satis
factorily”.
EWING—Mrs. S. E. Borden, a
patient at the Antelope Memorial
hospital in Neligh, is expected
home this week. Mrs. Borden had
the misfortune to fall and break
her hip on new year’s day. . . .
Mrs. Max Wanser went to Sioux
City Monday where she entered
St. Vincent's hospital. During her
absence, Mrs. Anna Pollock and
Miss Sharon Johnston will assist
in the Wanser home. . . . Mrs.
Waldo Davis and daughter, Marie,
went to Tilden Wednesday, Janu
ary 7. where both had physical
checkups. . . . Mrs. Wilson Spang
ler became ill at her home Monday

Havebull, 62, of Bartlett, who died
Monday, January 12, of a heart at
tack, will be conducted at 8 a.m.
Friday, January 16, at St. Pat
rick's Catholic church here.
He is survived by his wife and
several sons and daughters.

Family Night—
STAR -The Ash Grove auxiliary
held its first meeting of the year
at the hall Wednesday afternoon,
January 7.
Several topics were discussed,
mainly making plans to hold a
"family night party” at the hall
Sunday night, January 18, for all
members and past members, and
their families.
Each family is asked to bring
cake or sandwiches for lunch.
Next auxiliary meeting will be
Wednesday, February 4, at 1 :.'10

lived in Nebraska, including the

O'Neill and lived there until five
years ago when they moved to
Blue Earth.
All their children attended the
celebration. They are Lowell Hall
of Blue Earth; Marvin Hall of
EstherviUe, la.; Mrs. Jess (Ln
vern) Dobrovoiny of Atkinson;
Mrs. Lawrence (Phyllis) Dobrov
oiny of O'Neill, and Rev. Wayne
Hall of Broken Bow.
They also have nine grandchil
dren and one great-grandchild,
who also were present.

PAGE Members of the Amer
ican Legion auxiliary met Monday
evening at the Legion hall for
their January meeting.
The proceeds from the Saturday
food sale at the Cork cafe netted
$40.
A $5 donation was voted for the
march of climes fund and a $29
assessment to the Kellogg hind
was voted paid. The Kellogg
fund is to la* used for building a
building on the University of Neb
raska campus which may be
used by the lx>y and girl slaters
and the 4-H club groups.
